Visited for lunch and I was the only person in the place for the hour I was there. The one server working was the only person in the front of the restaurant. He did his best, and may have been taking phone orders or something, since he was gone more than he was out front and one person did come to pick up an order. With one person working lunch, it seems as if they are not expecting much of a crowd. My main issue is that it was super overpriced for a pretty ordinary experience. First, the very ordinary hamburger was 18.00. Then I was charged an extra 2.00 for fries. I had originally asked it included a choice of sides and I was told I could choose chips, salad, or fries. I had a glass of Grenache because I happened to notice the bottle at the bar. I buy this bottle of Grenache often for about 13.00 retail. Turns out it was 13.00 a glass here. So about 35.00 for lunch plus a decent tip is just too much to dine alone in an empty space in the heart of downtown for just an ordinary experience. It just feels abandoned and as if they have thrown in the towel. Maybe the more positive reviews are from those who dined in the evening, but lunch just doesn't seem to be happening here.

The good news: lovely restaurant. Good wines by the glass. Nice servers. Good garlic bread.
But.
The food was not that good and way overpriced for the quality. For example, my Osso Bucco was tough with more gristle than meat. We ordered scalloped potatoes as a side, but they didn't come with the entree. We assumed they would be right out -- the server could only carry so much. But they didn't. When we asked about them, the server seemed confused. She came back and said they were on the way; they came after we finished our entrees, so they were basically dessert. Clearly, they forgot to place the order. That's fine -- it happens. But don't lie; offer to cancel the dish or at least remove it from the bill.
I hate leaving bad reviews, but it's the only way a restaurant knows what's going on. I do hope they work on the quality control as I hate to see restaurants fail.

We went here for a Valentine dinner before a theater event and tried the themes menu. We enjoyed all the dishes and had a few cocktails. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We also took a visit to the Library downstairs lounge which had an fun ambience. Look forward to visiting again to check out other parts of the menu.

Mercy was a great experience. the Red Snapper was amazing. the combinations for fish and papaya and the right amount of salt was almost perfect. My wife had the strawberry salad (Valentines special) it was very good, very well put together. I went with the Lobster ravioli, this was very good, the added peanuts to the dish blended well with all the other flavors. Mercy was a great experience.

My husband and I went for brunch on Valentine’s Day. A couple things about our brunch: The hostess was also the waitress and the only staff we saw, she was very sweet and tried her best. I wanted a cocktail but there was no bartender, so I settled on a glass of rosé. The food was okay but I think it would have been great had they been staffed better. My salad was wilted from what I imagine was sitting under the heat lamps...which may have cooked my poached eggs on my eggs Benedict...or the eggs were just over-cooked. Despite my over cooked eggs and slightly wilted salad, the flavors were fantastic. I can only imagine how much better they could have been. The fries were awesome and my husband’s sandwich was good. The atmosphere and architecture are really cool. I was just underwhelmed on Valentine’s Day. Will we be back?! maybe.

The beer can chicken, the item I came in for, was a bit burnt, not as moist as I would have like it. The cocktails and service were great. Oysters, very fresh.

My Limousin Hangar Steak was so tough I couldn't eat almost half of it, to make it worse for $39 it didn't come with any sides and it cost another $10 for a plate of beans?
My wife got the Lobster ravioli and took 2 bits and couldn't finish the rest, I ate a couple and they were dry and tasteless.
The waiter was friendly and explained the menu, but didn't offer any compensation for the poor quality of the food.

We had a wonderful dining experience. Bella was a terrific, fun server, and I appreciated the Host stopping by to see how things were going.

The lobster ravioli dish was fabulous! And the Norwegian salmon was outstanding. One thing, though: my guest has a sensitivity to items with heat, and the food underneath the salmon was too spicy. So Bella had to scramble and bring in another warm salad item (we did not want to waste the salmon by sending it back).

So here’s a suggestion to the owner & management (and the people next to us said that the owner has turned the spice heat way up on a lot of his dishes): Notify your customers on the menu items when the spice is discernible. In our case, this issue sure did interrupt the flow of my guest’s dinner, and our conversation. Maybe you’ll want to rate the spicyness from 1 to 3 or something, so fair warning to folks is given. Who knew that the Norwegian Salmon dish was going to be so hot (my guest is full Norwegian and was not very happy with the kick).

Overall, great food and really nice vibe!

Although food was tasty, the portions were small for the price. My husband had the Mercy burger and thought it was delicious and the portion was good. A friend had the lobster ravioli and it was thick and tough - undercooked. We got the bread pudding dessert. Nothing about it was "pudding" it was dry croutons baked in a small square with some spices added to it. the sauce could have been much more plentiful to make up for the dryness. Our friend got the ice cream Sunday and cookie - which is pretty hard to do wrong.

Mercy is a great place to grab a bite to eat and have a cocktail before the theater. We sat in the back dining room this time rather than the bar.
The food was wonderful and out server, Bruce, was just the sweetest! He made great suggestions for food from the menu and made sure we had adequate time to enjoy our meal and get to the show on time.
The food is a bit overpriced but it is downtown Mpls.

Excellent place for Orpheum pre Theatre dinner. We had the hangar steak/beluga lentils and the druoc pork chop/risotto dishes along with beef tar tar with pickled mushrooms and Asian pear for an appetizer. The tar tar was excellent as are the fancy cocktails. I recommend the Alright, Alright, Alright bourbon cocktail. Mod vibe of Mercy and being seated next to the fireplace offered us the perfect ambiance. The sound level made talking to each other at a normal level possible. Bjorn, our server, was attentive and welcoming. We also ended the night with champagne and some candles in our cobbler, which was a lovely touch for a midweek celebration on a cold January night. Will definitely return.

My husband and I were not pleased with our meals. My husband questioned our waiter about weight and portion sizes of the lobster and salmon. He couldn't give us a size or weight but he did say they were a "decent" size. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The lobster was the size of an extra-large shrimp. My sea bass was not much bigger and it was swimming in sauce. Not a great value for the amount of money we spent.

We went to Mercy for Christmas Eve. It was our first time eating out on Christmas. I chose Mercy because they were open and they advertised themselves as "comfort food." It is a lovely place, but there was really nothing I would describe as "comfort food." They were accommodating, though. My uncle and husband asked for cheeseburgers, which weren't on the menu and they did serve them, so they were happy. My son had duck with mofongo, which he enjoyed, though the mofongo was nothing like traditional mofongo. I had squash with quinoa. I liked the squash and the quinoa was a bit vinegary. We did enjoy ourselves and the service and ambiance were excellent. Pretty expensive burgers and food in general, but okay for Christmas. Just definitely not anyone's comfort food that I know.

Oh my and not in a good way

Things went downhill fast. We arrived for our 6;30 pre-show reservation and were promptly seated at a booth in the mid-section. The manage quickly approached and apologized that they missed our request for a window table and handed us a gift card. Quite decent of them and quite unexpected. Thought that bode well of what was to come but it was not to be.

We ordered drinks, the crab cake and entrees with both the server and the host being made aware that we were going to an 8:00PM performance.

At 7:25 the host comes over and tells us that they are out of the Beer Can Chicken. We point out the time and ask what can be served quickly and settled on the Ratatouille. About 5 minutes pass by and out comes my duck and the ratatouille. The duck was dry and over done as the ghost of Christmas past consisting of two smallish strips and a dark blob of something equally dry and overdone. The ratatouille was deemed just ok. One dinner just ok and certainly not what was expected to be enjoyed and the second total disrespect of the poor Wild Acres duck. They did not charge us for anything which was very decent but again unexpected as I would have much rather has something to eat and paid for it. A bit hungry heading into an 8PM show…

Service and responsible management were a pleasant surprise. The overall experience-not so much. Hope the kitchen can somehow step up to the same.

Very disappointed.
Fish entre came barely luke warm....and was extremly small. Vegetable side came after entrees were eaten.
Offered only one kind of brandy.
Had to ask twice for a second cocktail.

Beef Tarttar was very good.
Will never go again.

Great location for a pre-theater dinner. The food and service were inconsistent. Had the scallops, preparation was very nice but the scallops were cold. Another diner had the squash and quinoa entree, that was delicious. The warm garlic bread was a spongy loaf of white bread and not very appealing. Dessert cobbler was good, but the coffee was lukewarm. Server was nice but we rarely saw them, felt like we were eating in a fast food restaurant. Expected a better experience given the prices.

From the moment I made my reservation I felt they didn’t want us to come in. I received a phone call asking us to come sooner. When I explained we couldn’t, they would not assure us we could finish our meal and would have to move to the bar promptly at 10. I decided to move our reservation earlier by 15 mins just to make sure we could enjoy. When we arrived they said they had been waiting for us (as if they were annoyed) and sat us at the bar anyway. The server informed us that the kitchen had a “hard close” at 10. It was 9... we ordered drinks and when he returned he told us again that the kitchen was closing ... it was 9:15. We ordered appetizers to accommodate his pushiness. He said “is that all? Can I tell the kitchen that’s all you’re eating?” I said no we were hoping for dinner as well. He looked at his watch and ROLLED HIS EYES. We just got our check from the manager, who was pretty apathetic about the whole situation. What a disappointment. If they don’t want business they should just close early rather than call to passive aggressively ask us to come earlier and treating us with annoyance and disinterest from the moment we arrived. We went down the street to the Newsroom that had a single waitress/bartender working and the difference was outstanding. They were welcoming, friendly, accommodating and the food was delicious. THAT’s what good hospitality is. Mercy does not offer that. They just want to go home. I hope the General Manger would be horrified by the behavior of their staff in a Sunday night.
