Comfort Food
Mercy Bar and Dining Room is a new concept in downtown Minneapolis featuring modern American comfort food. We have created a space that is fun, inviting and above all else, comfortable. Chef Mike Rakun and his team bring you casual and delicious food. The menu is designed to please all the senses and desires one will have when dining out, utilizing only the highest quality ingredients. We have everything from delicious salads and sandwiches to seafood, steaks and oysters that are flown in daily. We also believe we have one of the best priced wine lists you can find, as we sell wine close to retail pricing!
Remember to check out our lower level Library Lounge for a cocktail or a game of chess. Mercy boasts a beautiful patio that is wrapped in ivy and other foliage. A great escape in the heart of downtown!
Rick Nelson, from the Star Tribune, named us Top 5 Burgers in Minneapolis!

Great food. The chicken wild rice soup was some of the best I have ever had. Almost a meal in itself. My wife and I shared the beer can chicken. More than enough for 2. The only complaint was they didn't split the meal onto 2 plates. They did bring us another plate immediately after they noticed it. The side dish of carrots was cooked just right. Not too soft and not too hard. The butter sauce was exquisite.

Mercy's dinners paired with the plays at the Orpheum Theater are wonderful! I would recommend doing this to any theater goer who also loves good food. It adds another dimension to enjoying a play.

Took my sister there for a birthday celebration and we sat in the library lounge. So cute and cozy down there. We did several small plate and a few cocktails. The oysters Rockefeller were the best we have ever eaten! We ended up getting a second round of them they were soooo good! Can’t wait to go again

3/5/20 Made Bar seating reservation for pre theater dining. Sat at the bar. Cocktails were very good. We decided to enjoy a couple of appetizers for our dinner. The lobster poutine was a great take on the traditional dish. On the other hand, the calamari was awful. The rings were small and over fried. When we told the bartender about the calamari, he took it off the bill without question. The food was slow in coming. Overall, a good experience and we’d recommend Mercy as a great place to go before attending any Orpheum performance.

Food was average quality and incredibly overpriced. $33 for 3 scallops? Also, I don't understand being intentionally vague with the beer list. Why only list the brewery and not the type of beer? Seems like something your guests would like to know. Service was pretty good, but I knew within a 1/2 hour of being there that I'll go somewhere else next time I'm attending an Orpheum or State Theatre show.

Conveniently located in the downtown theater district and close to Brave New Workshop. The shrimp and grits were the best I've ever had. Rich and flavorful. Husband's duck breast dish was meh. Service and drinks were great though.

Visited for lunch and I was the only person in the place for the hour I was there. The one server working was the only person in the front of the restaurant. He did his best, and may have been taking phone orders or something, since he was gone more than he was out front and one person did come to pick up an order. With one person working lunch, it seems as if they are not expecting much of a crowd. My main issue is that it was super overpriced for a pretty ordinary experience. First, the very ordinary hamburger was 18.00. Then I was charged an extra 2.00 for fries. I had originally asked it included a choice of sides and I was told I could choose chips, salad, or fries. I had a glass of Grenache because I happened to notice the bottle at the bar. I buy this bottle of Grenache often for about 13.00 retail. Turns out it was 13.00 a glass here. So about 35.00 for lunch plus a decent tip is just too much to dine alone in an empty space in the heart of downtown for just an ordinary experience. It just feels abandoned and as if they have thrown in the towel. Maybe the more positive reviews are from those who dined in the evening, but lunch just doesn't seem to be happening here.

The good news: lovely restaurant. Good wines by the glass. Nice servers. Good garlic bread. But. The food was not that good and way overpriced for the quality. For example, my Osso Bucco was tough with more gristle than meat. We ordered scalloped potatoes as a side, but they didn't come with the entree. We assumed they would be right out -- the server could only carry so much. But they didn't. When we asked about them, the server seemed confused. She came back and said they were on the way; they came after we finished our entrees, so they were basically dessert. Clearly, they forgot to place the order. That's fine -- it happens. But don't lie; offer to cancel the dish or at least remove it from the bill. I hate leaving bad reviews, but it's the only way a restaurant knows what's going on. I do hope they work on the quality control as I hate to see restaurants fail.

We also took a visit to the Library downstairs lounge which had an fun ambience. Look forward to visiting again to check out other parts of the menu.

Mercy was a great experience. the Red Snapper was amazing. the combinations for fish and papaya and the right amount of salt was almost perfect. My wife had the strawberry salad (Valentines special) it was very good, very well put together. I went with the Lobster ravioli, this was very good, the added peanuts to the dish blended well with all the other flavors. Mercy was a great experience.

My husband and I went for brunch on Valentine’s Day. A couple things about our brunch: The hostess was also the waitress and the only staff we saw, she was very sweet and tried her best. I wanted a cocktail but there was no bartender, so I settled on a glass of rosé. The food was okay but I think it would have been great had they been staffed better. My salad was wilted from what I imagine was sitting under the heat lamps...which may have cooked my poached eggs on my eggs Benedict...or the eggs were just over-cooked. Despite my over cooked eggs and slightly wilted salad, the flavors were fantastic. I can only imagine how much better they could have been. The fries were awesome and my husband’s sandwich was good. The atmosphere and architecture are really cool. I was just underwhelmed on Valentine’s Day. Will we be back?! maybe.

My Limousin Hangar Steak was so tough I couldn't eat almost half of it, to make it worse for $39 it didn't come with any sides and it cost another $10 for a plate of beans? My wife got the Lobster ravioli and took 2 bits and couldn't finish the rest, I ate a couple and they were dry and tasteless. The waiter was friendly and explained the menu, but didn't offer any compensation for the poor quality of the food.

We had a wonderful dining experience. Bella was a terrific, fun server, and I appreciated the Host stopping by to see how things were going. The lobster ravioli dish was fabulous! And the Norwegian salmon was outstanding. One thing, though: my guest has a sensitivity to items with heat, and the food underneath the salmon was too spicy. So Bella had to scramble and bring in another warm salad item (we did not want to waste the salmon by sending it back). So here’s a suggestion to the owner & management (and the people next to us said that the owner has turned the spice heat way up on a lot of his dishes): Notify your customers on the menu items when the spice is discernible. In our case, this issue sure did interrupt the flow of my guest’s dinner, and our conversation. Maybe you’ll want to rate the spicyness from 1 to 3 or something, so fair warning to folks is given. Who knew that the Norwegian Salmon dish was going to be so hot (my guest is full Norwegian and was not very happy with the kick). Overall, great food and really nice vibe!

Although food was tasty, the portions were small for the price. My husband had the Mercy burger and thought it was delicious and the portion was good. A friend had the lobster ravioli and it was thick and tough - undercooked. We got the bread pudding dessert. Nothing about it was "pudding" it was dry croutons baked in a small square with some spices added to it. the sauce could have been much more plentiful to make up for the dryness. Our friend got the ice cream Sunday and cookie - which is pretty hard to do wrong.

Mercy is a great place to grab a bite to eat and have a cocktail before the theater. We sat in the back dining room this time rather than the bar. The food was wonderful and out server, Bruce, was just the sweetest! He made great suggestions for food from the menu and made sure we had adequate time to enjoy our meal and get to the show on time. The food is a bit overpriced but it is downtown Mpls.

Excellent place for Orpheum pre Theatre dinner. We had the hangar steak/beluga lentils and the druoc pork chop/risotto dishes along with beef tar tar with pickled mushrooms and Asian pear for an appetizer. The tar tar was excellent as are the fancy cocktails. I recommend the Alright, Alright, Alright bourbon cocktail. Mod vibe of Mercy and being seated next to the fireplace offered us the perfect ambiance. The sound level made talking to each other at a normal level possible. Bjorn, our server, was attentive and welcoming. We also ended the night with champagne and some candles in our cobbler, which was a lovely touch for a midweek celebration on a cold January night. Will definitely return.
