Melvyn's Restaurant at the Ingleside Inn is open 100% to entertain all our guests. The Formal Dining Room is open serving those guests who want to dress up and make it an exciting adventurous evening. Table side service is available in the Formal Dining Room only. One new addition to Melvyn's Restaurant is the Garden Patio, now serving dinner to those more casually dressed. Feel free to come in with jeans and tee-shirts and enjoy the casual dining experience. The entire menu is available with the exception of table side service, the meals will be prepared in the kitchen. The Casablanca Lounge is open with entertainment 7 nights a week starting at 8:00 pm. We are excited to share our restoration taking the restaurant back to the 1970's when Mel Haber first opened Melvyn's.
Dress code required. Casual Elegance or Business Casual: no tank tops, flip flops, beachwear, or t-shirts. Collared shirts, slacks and jackets preferred.

We had reservations for Valentines. The restaurant was very busy however that did not distract from the excellent service. Tbe restaurant is "old school" elegant and as this was the first time we were back since the renovations i was pleased that the charm was retained. Valentines had a special menu. I had the filet with prawns. The filet was excellent, tender and full of flavor. The prawns and potatoes were equally good. My wife had the lobster tail with risotto. Tender and flavorful. The service was suburb. All the staff was friendly and professional. Just what you expect from a great restaurant. It was a true 5 star experience. I read a few reviews that referred to Melvyn's as stuffy. That is the wrong description, it is classy and elegant! We will be back!

For our Valentine’s Day dinner, my husband ordered the sirloin steak and I had the filet snd prawns. Unfortunately, his steak had a lot of gristle and fat and was too difficult to eat. We had it boxed up, took it home and carved off the inedible parts. My meal was nice. The service was very good.

What a disappointment! The French onion soup was not hot; the entrée salad was brought before the soup was only half eaten; crème brulee was more like custard; and the ordered wine was incorrect. Food quality was fine, but the same can be had for a much lower price at other establishments. The outstanding Melvyn's experience was not there; it seems that Melvyn passed and his restaurant did too.

We waited a long time before the parking attendant showed up to park the car. The host was not very friendly when we where seated. We did have an old waiter who was very professional his name was Bobbie and he was in his 80’s . Our meal was excellent . The place is dated but somehow that adds to. The old world charm.

Very happy that even after the purchase and remodel of Melvyn's it's retained most of the features that made it the go-to restaurant to experience modernist Palm Springs. The food, table side prep on such old time favorites such as the wilted spinach salad and steak diane; service by very experienced waiters like Bob. This place reminds us of the time when our parents took us out to special occasion dinners at white table cloth 5 star restaurants. Thanks Bob. Your service made the dinner experience one to remember as the measure of what dining out really means.

Have been going to Melvyns for years, but was very disappointed by this dinner to say the least. The ambience has improved greatly in the dining room but the food not so much. We started with the shrimp cocktail which was quite rubbery. Next we had the oysters rockefeller, they didn't have enough sauce and were kind of dry. For our main course I had the veal oscar and that was fine, but all the vegetables on the plate were barely cooked. So sadly I can't recommend this place anymore. The bar also seems way too bright, the new fixtures are nice over the bar, but nobody likes to feel like they are getting interrogated at a bar....tone down the lighting.

Our food and service was great, but we drove 2 hours from San Diego just for the clam chowder. We were told there was a new chef, and no more clam chowder. PLEASE GET THE RECIPE AND BACK ON THE MENU!
Also, we were seated next to a bachelorette party that was drunk, loud and obnoxious. No one enjoyed themselves with the foul language. I know it is difficult for management to step in, but it really put a damper on our evening as well.
We still love the restaurant, and really love the piano bar (not so much that night)

We've been dining there for years. These days the Maitre'd and other hosts are unfriendly and seat us late at bad tables often, regardless of our frequency. The old staff are interesting, but it is time for retirement for most of them. Melvyn is gone. They should bow out gracefully. The garden room is a dump. Don't try and order a drink during the time of staff shift change because they all refuse to serve anyone. It is just too inconvenient for them to work it out gracefully without insisting you "just wait". Redecorating hasn't changed the antiquated attitude these old waiters insist on keeping alive.

The restaurant is hyped up to be a great place for special occasions. It's a little pretentious and doesn't deliver on its "table side" elegance. The booth we sat in was a little tired. The ribeye was good but served cool like they had it sitting while waiting for the potatoes. Veal was excellent. I feel like you get a better experience at Fleming's.

We always enjoy lunch at Melvyn's. Some of the servers have been here 40 years and the decor has just been redone. The plastic grapes on the ceiling in the garden patio are no more. Oddly, I miss them.

Have been coming to Melvyn’s for years and always had a good experience. First visit since remodel and it was a disappointment. Service poor slow and waiter had quite an attitude. Most disappointing was quality of food has decreased. Not anything like we’ve experienced before. Could not recommend to anyone ...sad to say
