   We had reservations for 4, My first comment was Peter our server was great no issues with him or his service . Where the dinner went off the rails was when we ordered two Steak Diane’s, cook on the steaks were well over done one was ordered medium rare and the other medium They both came out of the kitchen well done, missed the mark completely. Unfortunately in the dim light and with the mushrooms and sauce we did not realize it. The two other dinner came out well be for the steaks. The next issue was the sides never showed up until we were thru with the meal, the carrots were not cooked thru and mushrooms were tasteless. Now the good news Peter comped us for the sides and banana Foster’s. I think the steaks should have been but did not push it. So the low rating I really dislike doing but this was not a pleasant experience. Peter was great and I believe embarrassed. The bar keep was awesome he made my go too Bobby Butns cocktail to perfection.

   The host was charming. Food was very good. Dinner for 4. Almost $600. Waiter could be more polished for the prices charged. Also, he spilled a drink on me. Didn't do anything to make it right....should have brought a fresh drink, and maybe a towel to wipe up. He also made the bananas foster tableside, which weren't made properly. Disappointing service but we still enjoyed the dinner.

   We attended a wine dinner last evening. We booked on Open Table and provided a credit card to guarantee the booking. The price quoted was $360 for two and the booking clearly stated the price included all taxes, gratuity and fees. When the bill was presented, Melvyn’s had calculated the bill as $300 (150pp) + tax + 25% gratuity + a “Wellness Charge”. First, it is my understanding that “Wellness Charge” was made illegal by the CA Legislature in 2024. Second, by adding tax and 25% gratuity the total, even without the “Wellness Charge” exceeded the stated price on Open Table that was supposed to include all taxes and fees. After two conversations with the manager we were finally presented with a bill less than the $360 stated on Open Table so we added an amount in the tip field to bring the total to $360, the stated price on Open Table. The manager blamed the issue on Open Table. This incident kind of ruined what would have been an ok experience. The restaurant put the dinner in a fairly small space and seated all but 2 of the diners at a single long table. This made conversation difficult, as well as making it very crowded - bumping elbows with neighbors on both sides - and also increased the heat and noise to uncomfortable levels. That said, the food was good, as was the wine so, absent the bill screw up we would have given the experience a higher rating.

   The Filet Mignon and the Chilean Sea Bass were excellent and highly recommended! The sides (mash potatoes/mac-n-cheese) were very average. The Creme Brulee was excellent also. Drinks were a little pricey for the taste, again, I've had better for less. Also, be prepared for the junk fee. The bill included a "wellness charge". WTH?!

   Went there from the great online reviews. Was expecting more. Our server was lacking in interest/personality. Some of our dishes were good, but not good for the prices charged. Was neat to see this historical restaurant, but would not go back. Pretty disappointed in the experience.

   For an iconic restaurant, it was a let down. The restaurant was warm border line hot. I ordered the filet medium and it was well done. The baked potato was warm not hot with small portions for the loaded potato fixings. Bread and butter were a pay for appetizers. My friend said the hamburger was just OK and the fries were clearly frozen like McDonald's. I would recommend to go to other restaurants.

    I truly love the experience they provide, from the moment you valet the car, to the greeting and the service excellence from the waiter, no deal was spared.
