Loved the three empanadas we tried! Great server, too.
Great food, creative Cuisine , excellent service , Great Value
Made the reservation and got confirmation online only to walk to the restaurant and find it closed with a sign saying they had closed due to an emergency but would be open for dinner (our reservation was for dinner, at 8pm)... Really disappointed that even if they had to close for an emergency they didnt take the time to inform the people that made reservations.
Always delightful and delicious. I like the chicken with mango salsa. Comfortable and cozy and on street parking.
The service was very good and the menu offered a nice variety of dishes. The food was delicious and the portions were on the large size; which was nice and easily shared therefore enabling the four of us to taste a variety of their dishes. The noise level also allowed us to have a conversation without having to yell.
I have been going to Maya’s for years and it is always good. Sometimes a tad on the slow side but the service is excellent and the food delish. Easy street parking in a cute neighborhood. Will return for sure!
Great paella! Innovative cocktails. Solid appetizers.
Maya’s is a wonderful restaurant to go for a persona date or large celebration. They keep the music to a level that you don’t have to yell over one another and have extremely fast service with beautifully presented plates. The Mahi fish is delicious, as are the empanadas. There are dishes both large and small that are vegetarian friendly. We went there for my own graduation dinner with two vegetarians. At the end we ordered flaming plantains. An absolutely wonderful experience!
We had a reservation for 1:30pm, were seated at the table right away and then waited for 1.5 hours to get the food. Very disappointing.
We went today for Mother’s Day and left completely underwhelmed. We sat at 1pm didn’t have a server greet us for about 7mins told the host and still waited like 5 more minutes b4 someone came. By 1:15 we ordered our drinks and appetizers along my sons food. We didn’t get any of our apps until 2 pm one hour sitting down with nothing in front of us. Service was super slow we had to keep letting our server know like hey we see our drinks ready at the bar in order to I guess remind him to get them. Everything just took way to long the server would only tell us that the kitchen was backed up . Which isn’t reassuring when every 20mins that’s the response we got. Never did I see a manager make a round to any table let alone ours to see if we were ok or even discuss the issue. We ended up getting out entree’s around 2:30pm. I’m currently 8 months pregnant and was starving and disappointed by the time the food came. My mother who was excited to come was us completely disappointed with the experience. We came here last year with no problem but sadly this experience turned my whole family off and we will not be returning.
Food was excellent, plantains and guacamole appetizers were perfect. Our dinners were excellent! Tuna tartare, seafood paella, and two more appetizers were cooked and seasoned perfectly!
So glad we found Maya’s, we will definitely return!
We went for Easter lunch. The service and food was great and delicious. Hidden Gem. Highly recommend.
The food was simply delicious. Prices were adequate.
What a delightful dinner! Excellent informative server. Menu is innovative, fresh and everything was delicious. Have a mojito!
Excellent food very tasteful
I would recommend this place in a heart beat
Not impressed with the sangria or the Ropa Vieja that I ordered. Food was very mediocre and didn’t get the Latin experience I was looking for
Love this place! Just recently re-opened under new management. Menu is the same and the food was wonderful as always. My favorite dish there is the Tuna Tartare...it’s a must have! Don’t miss this diamond in the rough!
I genuinely enjoy the restaurant, but they were missing multiple items from their menu and none of the advertised specials outdoors were available. Additionally, the staff will ask if we need things, and then not bring the requested items until reminded.
Excellent spot...really great food!!!
Just recently went here the first time and went back again a few weeks later. Very enjoyable
I made a reservation and the appetizers came out within 15 minutes. We waited over 45 minutes for our main dishes and they never came out. Other tables without reservations received their food before us. My wife and I left after waiting 45 minutes and no main dishes coming out. Incredibly disappointed. Poor service!
The chef needs to use salt more sparingly on the salsa topping on the meat. They also seem to be fonder of selling alcoholic drinks as there was not even a proper coffee machine. However on the whole the dish was tasty but go easy on the salt
Absolutely delicious! I will be back.
Service was terrible.
Food was fair at best .
Happy to discuss with restaurant if they want to call.
Had a late Saturday afternoon lunch recently. I had never really heard about Mayas before but I am glad found it. The restaurant is quaint and a little dark but the staff and the food brightened everything up. Margaritas & Sangria were awesome. We had several apps and all were great especially empanadas. Did I mention that wait staff and bar tender were great? I will be back again soon.
Seated immediately. Food and Sangria were fabulous. Chose the seafood dishes. I’ll be back for more!!
Everything was amazing!! We will definitely be back.
I've loved every dish I've ordered here. Their sauces are amazing. The fried calamari and mahi-mahi Curry is the best!
The chocolate martini and handmade mojitos are delicious!
We had the Monterrey Chicken and the Dorado. Both were outstanding and I can be pretty picky when complimenting dishes.
While I have given Mayas a good rating (most of us liked our dishes), there are a couple of things that the restaurant needs to address to improve its service and offerings and ratings. First, several beers listed on the menu were not available (well there was just one bottle of Abita Amber left). Who runs out of Abita Amber? The waiter just shrugged, helplessly. I ordered Vuelve a la Vida, a seafood soup. The menu said that the dish contained shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, potatoes and carrots. I don't like squid, but to my consternation, the seafood in my soup was mostly squid. There were a few shrimp, mussels and clams, maybe one scallop. I left the pieces of squid piled on the side of my plate. Waiter again just shrugged. No apology, no compensation, no offering of another dish, nothing to address their false advertising and seafood substitution that was not what ordered - or would have ordered had the menu indicated that it contained squid. You cannot treat your customers this way if you want them to return or give you high ratings. Make sure your menu reflects what you are serving and that your staff have the ability to address mistakes made by management.
Great service great food
This is a nice neighborhood restaurant and the food is great - the just updated the decor and added some booths which made it very cozy - It all tastes fresh and prepared lovely - the service was ok at best - although very nice we found ourselves looking for our server to get a second drink - that should never happen in a restaurant in Nola - but I will go back because the food is outstanding -
Very nice place with a friendly staff. The food was affordable and delicious.
It was pretty chaotic since it was New Year’s Eve. There was a lot of rushing around and it made the environment less pleasant to be in. I guess less romantic. However, the food was fantastic and I would highly recommend going again.
This was an outstanding find for New Year's Eve dinner in New Orleans! We waited almost too late to find a place on a holiday night, but luckily we stumbled onto this little gem! We were pleasantly surprised to even get a complimentary bottle of champagne for our reservation for NYE! And the food was simply FANTASTIC! The tenderloin empanadas were honestly the best I've ever had!! And, of course, I can't neglect to mention our outstanding service, as well. Even though we arrived a bit late for our reservation, due to the crazy traffic, we were greeted with a smile and such friendly staff all around. I would definitely recommend for anyone visiting not to pass up on this Latin gem.
New Year’s Eve. Lovely waitress, beautiful presentation, delicious food
So glad Maya's is back in operation! A group of 5 of us had a New Year's brunch there--very festive and the meals were all delicious. They had a new menu so I was worried that my old favorite seafood-and-avocado dish that used to be listed under Ceviches was gone, but we managed to find it, now described as 'crab and shrimp', I believe. To-die-for good!!
Mango guacamole very tasty. The crab salad also quite pleasing.
Went for dinner on Xmas Day & they had the regular menu which was very eclectic with wonderful choices for appetizers, main courses & desserts. Service was attentive & we dined in a friendly, relaxing atmosphere. Going back for New Years Eve.
The Roda Vieja was Outstanding!!!
