MATSYA - Reincarnation of Indian Cuisine
MATSYA signifies reincarnation, hence staying true to the name the team at Matysa went around India to find those hidden recipes and present it to London in a new avatar. At Matsya we are reincarnating secret, traditional Indian recipes which have been forgotten or lost from the entire subcontinent. This is a brand new concept in London and our aim is to take you on an Indian Culinary Journey with our menu, you can try dishes that you have never tried before from across India in the heart of Mayfair. Our vision dates back centuries, in Hindu mythology Matsya, the fish, represents the beginning of life and a fresh start, at Matsya you will enjoy an intimate fine dining experience while you get transported to different parts of India with our unique dishes.

£50. Choose between: Paneer Croquette Makhani or Khatte Baingan. Served with Dal Matsya, Makhani Cumin Potatoes, Kushka / Naan / Roti

  • Trio Bombay Pani Puri

    Coriander, Tamarind and Mango flavoured tippling water for stuffed puris

    • Delhi Allo Tikki

      Potato aloo tikki, sweet yoghurt, tamarind and dates chutney, coriander chutney

      • Hari Mirch Paneer Tikka

        Cottage cheese chunks with saffron stuffed with green chilli paste and finished in tandoor

        • Bharwan Tandoori Mushroom

          Our original mushroom, stuffed with lentils, cooked in tandoor

          • Paneer Croquette Makhani

            Sweet and sour with butter and cream, flavoured with dried fenugreek powder

            • Khatte Baingan

              Whole chillies and eggplant cooked in spices and tamarind

              Dessert

              • Gulab Monk

                Gulab jamun, old monk and pista ice cream

                • Espresso Rasagullas, Peanut 'Chikki' and Salted Caramel Ice Cream

                                              Matsya was impeccable. The food, service and employees were gorgeous. I was a little saddened by how slow it was because it's such a gem. If you're questioning having a meal here. Don't miss out!

                                              Short staffed on day arrived. Had to show ourselves to the table, no greeting. Ambience was weak, no lighting. Food was fine but very small portions. They trick you by giving you water that is chargeable but don't ask if you want it first.

                                              We came here for a celebration and were pretty disappointed. The food was below average and starters were very small portions/lacked taste. The downstairs and hallway decor was a bit shabby - not at all what we expected from a Mayfair restaurant. It has good potential but definitely not there yet.

                                              Modern Indian food with a nice twist. Lovely room upstairs to eat in. Attentive service. Great value for quality food. Would recommend it.
