We had a blast celebrating our anniversary here
Went for a friends birthday and had a great dining experience. Friendly service and fabulous food.
I have never been to this location before I always go to the Ocean Club. This is a great place to go before a Play great location, the service can't be beaten! The steak is Great I actually prefer the steak at Ruth Chris but that is personal preference. That being said the experience at Mastro's is amazing. Just know the place is kinda noisy I like it but just know before you go! OH and The Butter Cake! FML it is worth going out of Ketosis for!
Our waiter took great care of us for our 6 year anniversary. We were so pleased with the level of service and the exceptional quality of our food. My boyfriend, who is vegetarian, is sometimes very hard to please when we dine out and Mastro’s offered so many great options for him. He was not disappointed!
Sean the manager is awesome awesome!
It was in the bar area at a high top table. My only concern was that we didn’t get the wonder butter cake to celebrate the birthday.
Mastro's never disappoints. Their service is top notch from the hostess to the waiters. We came in right before closing time and did not feel we were being rushed or imposing on the staff. The seafood tower is a must. You pick how little or how much and the seafood that you would like. Beautiful presentation. The steaks are cooked to perfection. We had the ribeye and New York peppercorn steak. I especially enjoyed the New York steak as it is a leaner cut of meat. Macaroni and cheese is rich and delicious.
Celebrating a 50th Birthday, that was made all the more special by the impeccable service and food as well as the beautiful desert provided by the restaurant. We will definitely be back.....
Overalls, they provide a great atmosphere and great service from the wait staff! However, the food is good but not worth the price point being a la Carte. You can get better food at a better price point at other fine dining establishments such as McCormick’s.
Food Is always amazing! I’ve been too different steak house and I gotta say nothing like mastro’s... work my money!
We went for our anniversary and it was a wonderful evening. We will be going back again for sure. Lives up to their name & reputation.
sorry, but not worth the money. I've had better meals for less than half as much. to be fair, my wife thought her Filet Mignon was the best steak she's ever had, but my ribeye was just OK. Same with our sides, they were just so-so. Service was SLOW - we were there for over 2 hours after showing up 10 minutes early for our 7:30 reservation. On line reservation feature was nice, and they seated us 10 minutes after our appointed time. However for the extremely high price of the meal I would expect much better food and a faster process.
Our waiter was arrogant. It was almost as if being courteous was a challenge for him. When we go to a restaurant the caliber and price point of Mastro’s we expect to be treated with respect and for the server to go it of their way to explain menu items, etc. I was horrified when I found out my friend had given him a 20% tip. We’ll return to Mastro’s but will avoid this waiter’s area. Would hate to inconvenience him again.
It had been a few years, but we finally made it back for a late birthday celebration for my wife before our Pacific Symphony concert. Jake was AWESOME. A true service professional!
Fantastic lobster; fantastic rib eye. Delicious bacon and Brussels sprouts! Yummy chocolate cake for birthday dessert.
Food was great as always. Service was just okay and when you are spending $500 for dinner for two, you would expect better service. Our waiter was supposedly a sommelier (wine expert) but the bottle he recommended for almost double the price of what we were going to go with and we know we liked, was just ok. It’s pretty loud inside and for some reason people insist on bringing small children.
The front desk staff was extremely rude, but my overall service at the dining table was great.
I am a frequent diner at Mastro’s in Newport and love the place. This experience was nit comparable except for the food. We sat in the bar. The music was so loud we couldn’t talk or hear. Trying to get the attention of a bartender to order food or drinks, impossible. They were too busy talking. Overall I was very disappointed.
The Gnocchi is AMAZING!!
Mastro’s really went above and beyond for our dinner. We went here to celebrate Christmas and eat before seeing a show and the entire staff was incredible. Everyone was observant, easy to talk to, professional, knowledgeable, respectful, and timely. I have already recommended it to many people! As a girl in her early twenties, I find that my restaurant visits aren’t as respected or taken care of as diligently because I am young and easy going. But here, I was treated with as much respect as I have seen my parents and grandparents receive. This really meant a lot to me. My boyfriend and I are going to make Mastro’s our number one pick for any celebrations. Thank you for giving us a worry-free evening out.
very dark so hard to read menu, service was not that spot on even though we prepared our server upfront we were on a time constraint. Steak not that great sides were better...
Had a bday celebration and there’s not much better fine dining in OC than Mastro’s. Everything was great, got seated right away, food was A+, ambience was just right, and service was great as expected. Been here before and will be back again!
Outstanding food, ambiance and service! On a scale of 1-5, I give it a 6+ ! We got there at 5pm, with theater tickets at 6:30. They were very conscientious of our time frame, and provided us with the outmost of service. After a 1 1/2 hour from San Diego, it was perfect for dinner before the theater...just a 5 minute walk..... We will definitely go back next month when we have theater tickets again! <3
Absolutely outstanding service. The food was amazingly delicious. The atmosphere was warm and enjoyable. Just an overall amazing dinning experience.
I have been to Mastro’s in the past and enjoyed it however on this occasion the service was horrible. We had a reservation for 5 and arrived 5 minutes early. We were told we could not be seated for another 5 minutes and to wait in the bar. We opted to waiting in the hall. As we stood there numerous people were seated who did not have a reservation. After 10 -15 minutes my husband finally asked when we would be seated and he was rudely told in a minute. When we were seated we were left at a table with no menus. Nobody came to the table for about 10 minutes and then we were offered water and menus. We saw our waiter once when he took our order. He never checked on us again and we had to ask someone else for our check. Very disappointed!
The place was so dark, you could not see what you were eating. Often, I am biting into pure fat or parts of burn meat because again, I am not able to see. I thought Maestro's in Beverly Hills had much better tasting steak. However, service was excellent.
Food was fantastic. However, it is far too dark at dinner time.
Let me say first that I would definitely go there again. But the tables are crowded together and the atmosphere does not match the price. Great food and service is spoiled by noise and and tables stacked on top of each other. Maybe in NY but not spacious Orange county.
The restaurant is nice. Very large
Very busy, Noisy. High end steak house prices. Did not like that the bathroom was up a large flight of stairs. Service excellent.
Food was great, service was great food is very pricy and you do not need the most expensive steak to have an excellent one. We chose the New York and found it to be incredible
Celebrated our wedding anniversary at this location, had a great time so we decided to bring in 2019 here. It was a very busy night, as expected, with the bar/piano bar/lounge area being the most popular and vibrant. Bar service was a slight struggle if you didn't have a table in that area, but anywhere you go on NY's Eve is going to be packed. Drinks are a little on the pricier side, with 1 specialty drink and a well drink averaging between $32-$35, but it's fine dining, so again it was expected. Overall a great experience an we will definitely return.
Never could go home with Mastro’s. This time it was just the wife and I, to much food for us(great to take leftovers home). We were to full to eat the Buttercake(best desert ever). We ordered one To-go, it’s still delicious at home. I heated the cake for 20seconds, then put the ice cream on top.
My husband and I went on New Year’s Eve the service was outstanding as well as the food and environment. Before we were seated the manager assisted us in getting a drink at the bar he was very helpful very pleasant and nice made her experience awesome. I also asked to have seating in the bar and the servers app/hostess were very accommodating very nice!
Always love mastro’s!
New Year’s Eve. Dinner was excellent with a diverse selection of specials I’ve not seen anywhere before
Cute spot to ring in the new year!
Asked for a table in the lounge weeks before our dinner. I asked to be by the live music. We arrived and we placed in a corner all the way across the room from the music.
We were seated at one table near the front door and the cold wind was too much so they kindly moved us upstairs. The duo that was playing live music did an excellent job. There were several children in the restaurant as it was New Years Eve. Some of the children were running around. That was the parents fault not the restaurant.
We didn’t particularly like where we were seated, which was literally in the doorway (in foot traffic and constant air draft) with the glass partition to the wine room less than 1” behind 2 of the seats, and there were 8 of us crammed in. The team of servers and management were very accommodating when we requested to move to an adjacent table. The rest of the service was impeccable, food was excellent. We had a great time. Thank you for making our New Year Eve dinner a memorable one.
