This in-house made gluten-free pasta was fantastic and the service was impeccable. And of course it’s a beautiful restaurant. I cannot wait to go again! For sure 10 out of 10.

Overall, was quite disappointed with Marisi’s as we had heard such good things about it. Most disappointing was the cuisine starting with “little gem” salad which was anything but…although croutons were good. Also, the branzino was way overcooked…skin was charred and fish directly adjacent to it was inedible. Although we indicated on reservation, we were celebrating a Bday, no mention was made. When I reminded server, he responded with “Oh, Happy Birthday”! All in all, little value for the $300 expenditures.

Cocktails were amazing, pastas were just average (we had the short rib ragu and the carbonara). The fish of the day was blue fin belly and was a bit gristly. We were rushed through dinner and asked to leave in a very rude way. Would not return

I’ve been to Marisi in La Jolla several times before and always had a great experience, but today’s visit was honestly disappointing. We had to send back the carbonara because it was swimming in fat and overwhelmed by salty pancetta – definitely not what we’ve come to expect from this place. The chicken liver pâté, which is usually a favorite, came out warm (instead of cold) and tasted off. When we asked for extra plates for the kids, we were handed tiny (almost) tea cup saucers – not exactly helpful. All of these issues could’ve been addressed with a bit of attentiveness, but unfortunately, our server Scott just didn’t meet the standard we’ve come to associate with Marisi. The restaurant wasn’t that busy, yet it took us nearly two hours to get through the meal because he was rarely around and slow to respond. When we brought up concerns, he quietly took the plate to the chef, but never followed up or gave any explanation until I asked him. His response, a quick “Chef agreed,” and that was it. No real acknowledgment or effort to make things right. Really unfortunate, especially given how much we’ve enjoyed this place in the past. Hoping this was just an off day, but it definitely made us second-guess coming back anytime soon.

Everyone’s meal was delivered at a different time. 2 of the hot main dishes were delivered cold. After redoing them, one was overcooked and none of us got to eat together. We told them it was a birthday and they did nothing, candle, etc when they delivered a mediocre tiramisu in a tin cup. Very disjointed dinner experience.
