Critically acclaimed Chef Rohit Ghai and Abhishake Sangwan will return to Mayfair - the neighbourhood where Rohit made his name and they first began to work with one another – to launch Manthan.

Manthan, meaning to churn and reflect, is inspired by Ghai's extensive international career to date, and dishes will reflect his culinary experiences – both professional and personal – in kitchens all over the world as well as the street food markets, he has frequented for over 20 years throughout India.

Drinks-wise, a concise cocktail menu has been compiled by Abhi, formerly of Trishna and Bombay Bustle. The name Manthan also refers to the churning of the oceans and references Hindu mythology.

Interiors of sleek dark wood and marble finishes, and seats are arranged around a central statement bar, providing the perfect backdrop for convivial dining, drinking, and snacking.

We were traveling to London from the US and on this evening we were seeking good Indian food that is not the commercial Indian we are used to in the US. We chose Manthan for its unique menu. We loved the food and the atmosphere. Great food and outstanding service.

We were looking forward to our dinner to celebrate my sister’s birthday however we left feeling greatly disappointed. We ordered a variety of veg and non veg dishes expecting a range of flavours however the taste of every single starter was the same …. The same chutneys smothered on top therefore not a great experience in terms of flavours. The meal itself was very rushed. I have never been to a high-end restaurant and felt overwhelmed with the speediness of the food making us feel like they were trying to rush as for the next reservation, because of this we did not finish a single dish. The service from the waiting staff was good - they tried their best. The washrooms were terrible. Absolute filth. For a restaurant located in Mayfair they were worse than public toilets in a tube station. I definitely will not be dining again and would like Manthan to reach out to me and explain why it was such a disappointment!

Manthan Mayfair is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, the impeccable service and amazing ambiance envelop you. The decor is thoughtfully curated, inviting a sense of introspection, perfectly aligning with the restaurant's name. Our culinary journey began with the Artichoke Tikki – a revelation! As first-timers, we were utterly blown away by the incredible flavors and textures. For the main course, the vegetarian thali was a truly sumptuous affair. Each element, from the perfectly cooked Soya Chop and creamy Saag Paneer to the comforting Tadka Dal and rich Matar Paneer Makhani, was a delight. Accompanied by fragrant steamed rice, refreshing raita, and beautifully made tawa paratha, it was a feast for the senses. The subtly sweet Coconut Payasam provided a lovely end to the thali. To top it off, they surprised me with a delightful complimentary Chocolate Mousse for my birthday – such a thoughtful touch! Manthan is a must-try experience, and incredibly convenient, being just under a 10-minute walk from Oxford Circus. Highly recommended!

Great food. Really friendly, well trained staff who know a everything about their dishes, what to recommend and even tell you what allergens/ingredients are in the dishes. Had a really great time and will be back in future!
