Mandolin is a breath of fresh air to the Raleigh dining scene, combining a casual atmosphere with fresh, contemporary, Southern fare. We share our food in a relaxed, cozy atmosphere that replaces the stuffiness of fine-dining with Southern charm. The menu and ambiance reflect the character of Raleigh itself- a blend of rustic and refined, contemporary and traditional, rural and metropolitan. Mandolin, like the City of Oaks, is Southern at its roots, but draws influences from around the world. We love our new home in Hayes Barton, just a stone's throw from Five Points, on the corner of Oberlin and Fairview.

Parking details
We have ample parking in multiple locations as well as Valet Service on Friday and Saturday nights. We have street parking in front of the restaurant on Fairview Rd. We have a parking lot beside the Red Dragon. We also have use of the parking lot behind State Farm and Hungry Howie"s with its entrance on Oberlin Rd. Finally, after 5:00 PM and all day on the weekends, we offer parking at the offices, located on the opposite side of the Oberlin-Fariview intersection from the Mandolin.

We went to Mandolin for a birthday brunch on Sunday late morning. We all had the chicken salad was fabulously tasty... amount on the sandwich was a bit skimpy and noticeably so perhaps because the bread was absolutely delectable.
We were disappointed that no desserts are offered at brunch, especially because we were ther to celebrate a birthday.
Overall, a neat place with some unique and tasty food! {I would not recommend this restaurant to diners who have difficulty hearing, especially at brunch and happy hour.}

I was rather disappointed that the dish that I specifically came for (the trout florentine) was not available, but I understand these things happen. However, we were also quite disappointed with the service. Our waiter forgot to bring the waters we ordered, multiple times answered questions we asked with "What?" (there are more courteous ways of asking someone to repeat a question), didn't bring syrup with the waffles (and looked at us like we were incredibly strange for asking for him to bring some), didn't offer to refill coffees, and all around was simply not of the caliber of server you would expect at a higher end establishment. Additionally, $14 for one waffle is terribly high. I will have trouble recommending Mandolin to friends for brunch.

Food is fresh, tasty & well seasoned. We had French onion soup & Oysters Mandolin for appetizers. French onion soup was amazing. Oysters mandolin were good. The deep fried pork belly that came with the oysters were the star of the dish. I would totally rename that dish to reflect that... (personal opinion)

Service was courteous, but slow. We had to look for our waiter several times to ask for service, such as water/drink refill, and steak knives, etc.

The main issue that we have with this restaurant and the reason why we are reluctant to recommend this place to a friend or to even come back is because we found a “plastic wrap” in our steak. We told the waiter about it and he brought it to the kitchen to show the executive chef. Normally, we would expect an apology from the kitchen, or some acknowledgment, or gesture to make it whole, but none of that happened, and that’s truly awful for a restaurant of such tenure and reputation.

We were being discreet about the incident and also stopped eating our food, paid our bill in full, and left the restaurant. We definitely wrote a review afterwards to address this issue, in the hopes that it would get the owners’s attention. We think that this is disrespectful towards customers, and a bit unprofessional.

I eat a plant-based diet and was overwhelming pleased with every aspect of my meal from the first course to the dessert. I am often disappointed with the vegan options at fine eateries but not this time. My compliments to the chef!

Very impressed! You can tell they take pride in their food and buy fresh ingredients. Mandolin is up there with some of Raleigh’s best; I will definitely be going back!

We've gone several times (Wife and I) it's our favorite spot in Raleigh to do date night. Duck breast when it's on the menu is awesome. Chicken and waffles also delicious, but the menu has some cool stuff on it so I kind of feel bad about ordering something like that (but they do it right). It's also a very fair price point, not the cheapest place but fair for what you have to choose from, 3 courses you'll spend $40 or more depending on if you're having any drinks (we do :D )
Server was on point, kept glasses full and the drinks coming, let us eat when the food came, answered all of our questions and was generally everything you want in a server.

We will be back again for sure!

Met up with friends for Saturday Brunch in Raleigh, first-time visiting Mandolin. We booked ahead, that morning, for a brunch time - I would suggest reserving ahead on weekends as the layout of the restaurant can cater to large groups and there were several large groups that day. The service is quick, warm and genuine. The food is wonderful! I got the Pork Madame - highly recommend! The menu is well thought out with options to mix and match. Great new spot on our restaurant rotation!

I was excited to finally eat at Mandolin, as I pass it almost every day. I enjoyed the atmosphere very much and the wine and appetizers we ordered. I ordered the chicken and dumplings, being well aware they would not be my grandmother's dumplings, but was I love all the ingredients, so I ordered anyway. The flavor was nice, but I bit into several knobbly bits (chicken cartilage) that really put me off. I know many people don't mind all parts of certain animals, but I can't stomach those parts. Oh well.

My children loved it , but old Maw and Paw 😜 were bothered by the noise. My husband actually lost his voice speaking loud enough so others in the party of six could hear. Most loved the food. I heard very little during the whole meal. We had to wait more than 30 minutes for our reserved table. Our service was excellent. The restaurant was cute and the cocktails were delicious. Maybe, try acoustical panels on the ceiling and walls?
