Mandolin is a breath of fresh air to the Raleigh dining scene, combining a casual atmosphere with fresh, contemporary, Southern fare. Mandolin uses the highest quality local ingredients to create seasonal menus that resonate with foodies and casual diners, alike. We share our food in a relaxed, cozy atmosphere that replaces the stuffiness of fine-dining with Southern charm. The menu and ambiance reflect the character of Raleigh itself- a blend of rustic and refined, contemporary and traditional, rural and metropolitan. Mandolin, like the City of Oaks, is Southern at its roots, but draws influences from around the world. We love our new home in Hayes Barton, just a stone's throw from Five Points, on the corner of Oberlin and Fairview.

    We went for brunch and the food was excellent. All three of our meals were great; my mother thought the benedict was one of the best she ever ate. Service could be improved. It was a pretty long wait to receive service once we sat and quite a bit longer before someone came back to take our orders. And we weren't checked on all that frequently. While it was pretty busy when we arrived, the restaurant was pretty emptied out by the time we ordered so I wouldn't say I'm being unreasonable in the comment. But really, it was fantastic food and we would definitely go back.

    I had brunch at Mandolin on Saturday late morning. The food was good, although service was a bit slow. My biggest complaint was the noise level. It was very loud, distractingly loud. Not sure if it’s the way the restaurant is designed or maybe just bad timing.

    Love Mandolin! They consistently strive for excellence without trying to be trendy or stuffy. The food is local, seasonal, and always full of flavor. The staff are friendly, professional, and make you feel like they’re genuinely glad you’re there. Highly recommend.

    We had the Chef's 6 Course Tasting Menu with Wine Pairing on May 10. We are foodies and love to experience new tastes, textures and presentations. The meal was phenomenal, exceptional. 5 star courses (one 4 star), excellent wine pairings and very courteous, pleasant and efficient serving. Some of our outstanding courses were the Spring Gnocchi which was the star of the night, so delicious with the little burst of the sweet drop peppers. The Grilled Strawberry Burrata Salad was suprising, subtle and delicious as well. And the BBQ Pork Collar was very tender and delicious. The Orange Creamsicle Creme Brulee was so so good. We had a wonderful time on our final evening during our visit from FL and will definitely return when we can next. The superlatives are all deserved.
