The food was pretty good, but our waitress wasn’t attentive at all, took forever. Also our table was the only one without a flower so we asked if we could have the one from the empty table next to us and proceeded to say “well no, I’m sorry, we’ve been having a lot of instances of broken glasses.” Like what?? You gave us water glasses and a other glasses for our drinks… but don’t trust us with the small flower vase? It was just so odd, along with not filling our water glasses when they were visibly empty and just not being polite.
Nice place for brunch. Very friendly staff. Service was excellent
And a variety of brunch choices some of which are not what you’d typically see on the menu. The biscuits brought to the table as a starter with jam are delicious. Light fluffy not greasy and I’m not a biscuit eater. Enjoyed mine ! Eggs Benedict on rye was very good. We’ll definitely go back
Terrible - won’t be going back
Sat outside. We were only table. Took forever to get drink refills of alcohol and soda. After over 30 minutes spoke with manager and finally go drinks. That said, food was excellent.
We love Mandolin but this evening our server was not what we are accustomed to. We ordered wine with our meal. Our appetizer arrived, no wine had yet appeared and our water glasses were empty. We had to ask for water (unusual for Mandolin, typically), and our waitress stated, I’m still waiting for the wine. After more than 15 minutes, our server came back and said that the computer was “ghosting” and the order hadn’t been received. We said that was fine, but we’d like our meal to be held up until the wine arrived. She then came back and said that the wine was not available at all. So, we ordered another bottle, and within 2 minutes our meal was at our table. My husband said again that we wanted to have the meal with the wine and that appeared to upset our waitress. All of that isn’t really a big deal. Wine came, served by a great guy who was apologetic and understood. Again, not a big deal. What was disappointing was that our server never made eye contact with us, didn’t check on us at all, walked by the table several times and ignored us. She barely spoke when she brought the check. She made us feel like we were wrong or bad people. It wasn’t a big deal to us, all that was required was acknowledgment and a simple “so sorry about that”. Instead we were treated by our waitress as if we weren’t there. Again, the other staff were kind and gracious. We will be back, but will be sure to sit in someone else’s section.
The grouper could have been a better cut for the price.
I was a bit concerned bc the menu was small, and nothing jumped out at me, but all the food we ordered was excellent.
Food was alright. Not a big menu, took 45mins to get our food on a Tuesday. Made a reservation and they had to find us a table.
Delicious food and great service. Very reasonably priced for brunch! Definitely recommend.
Service was very slow and inattentive. Disappointing
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Desert was awesome! I guess I expected more from the Catch of the Day item on the menu. It wasn't bad or disappointing but it wasn't fantastic either. Would definitely give it another chance in the future.
Was a wonderful place to hold employee recognition dinner. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Excellent food, drinks and service.
Attention to detail!!
My husband had the bone in ribeye and it was wonderful. We also had the charcuterie to begin and it along with the bread service was delicious. I had the chicken and waffles and the waffles were great as were the collard greens and mushrooms, but the chicken was super salty and overcooked:/ We enjoyed our first visit and will try it again.
Loved that fresh ingredients are used. I loved the rose I had as well.
Food was awesome, drinks were awesome!!! Great place, definitely will be back.
Service was fantastic- attentive, sweet, helpful, informative.
Food was mediocre with not really any vegetarian options (the waffles weren’t available).
Ordered the biscuits and gravy, the potatoes were crispy fried which is normally good but they were soooo fried they were super dry and the side salad was really small and the lettuce was hot bc the potatoes were piled directly on it. There was barely enough gravy for the biscuits.
The eggs Benedict was decent but once again barely enough sauce and there was barely any country ham, the eggs were teeny weeny and each egg was served on a half slice of toast.
The ambiance felt like an attempt at fine dining but had no warmth, and the dining room had no music or any sound absorption.
Great birthday dinner!
Very good food and service. It was a little loud. Other than that very enjoyable evening
Superb food, cocktails, and service. Will be dining there again soon!
One of our favorite spots! Delicious food and creative cocktails. Staff is warm and welcoming.
It's hard to stand out in new American/french style genre but Mandolin does, with a southern twist and with class and quiet sophistication.
Wonderful food, local, very fresh, with a delightful and friendly atmosphere. Just moved from NYC looking for great food and this is definitely a place that will become a regular on our places to go. It's humble in the subtle qualities of the cuisine, which demonstrate great technic and flavor. The feel of the dinning room is nicely laid out, familiar and elevates the dinning experience. The kitchen is as open as the staff, who are knowledgeable, polite and complete the experience.
Great food and fun for my daughter's 13th birthday. Excellent service from Nora. We'll be back!
Highly recommend this restaurant, both the food and service was outstanding. We had a wide variety of items from appetizers, salads, main courses and desserts and absolutely everything was perfectly prepared. The food was flavorful, creative and fresh. I thought the BLT salad was perfect and definitely an upgrade spin on a favorite of mine. Everyone said the caramel cake decadent. Can’t wait to go back.
Celebrating my cousin birthday. She really enjoyed her meal, drinks and the overall experience.
My fiancé and I visited Mandolin over the weekend and were excited to try a restaurant that had solid reviews. Our table wasn't ready at our reservation time which was explained to us immediately that a kitchen staff member had called out and food was taking longer to prepare. Not an issue, this happens, especially considering some of the labor shortages in the food/bev industry.
We waited while the host "bought" time for the kitchen staff for about 20 minutes. Not a big deal, we were seated and had order some appetizers and a bottle of wine. Appetizers were excellent (gazpacho and panzanella salad) but the main courses were the worst dishes we have ever been served at any restaurant.
I had the pork chop and she had the catch of the day. Both dishes were burnt to a crisp. I do not know how someone plated such blatantly burnt food and thought, "yeah, this can go out". Those plates would get stopped at any chain restaurant. I couldn't believe it and still can't believe it.
The head chef was working that night.
Great food. We went when it was very busy, a good sign. Service was a little slow, but that's fine since I'd rather not be rushed.
The service was very slow and our waitress was overwhelmed. It took a long time to get our food. The ambiance was nice. Noise level made it sometimes difficult to hear.
Great first time visit to Mandolin! Hats off to the whole crew, front and back of the house. The post pandemic world is wide open and restaurants are slammed…this team is handling it with grace. The food & drink quality is incredible!
Tough night for the restaurant. They were obviously down kitchen staff. We waited more than an hour after the first course. Couldn’t sit any longer. Would have liked to try the desserts.
Said they had problems in the kitchen, but just wasn’t a great experience. Medium rare steak was well done. Everything seemed over seasoned and lots of dill, so if you love dill, this might be the place for you. They were very proud of their French fries that were hard and cold. We tried to hit up several of the nicer fine dining-esque restaurants while we were visiting Raleigh and this wasn’t one we would go back to.
Stopped in for dessert. Enjoyed the soufflé.
The food, service, ambiance, and entire experience was excellent. The only issue we experienced at our visit is that the music was a little to loud. That was somewhat attributable to our table location near the speakers. We loved the old rock and roll music, but our experience would have been excellent had the music been a little softer.
One of our favorite places where we have dined numerous times. The experience has always been great…food, staff, ambiance, and service. However last night must have caught them short handed, with a full house and not enough kitchen and waitstaff. Excruciatingly long wait time for courses to be served and waiter was over extended so we just didn’t get their usual fine service. We’ll write this off as an unfortunate aberration, and be back again.
We were there for a birthday celebration. It took us 40 minutes to get our first drinks. After that, the service was excellent. The food was delicious.
Delish! Never a bad experience at Mandolin. Food, service, atmosphere is top notch!
Enjoyed it. Fun creative menu with fresh local farm ingredients. Slow dining experience for our business dinner, but it was good. Other tables of 4 and two were in and out.
Excellent service excellent food and excellent ambiance
The restaurant is cute & has a nice quiet vibe to it. The service was great. The food was bland & overpriced for what it is.
I love this place! It is always so fresh, the food is so good, and the service is awesome. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone for any meal!
Menu is hit or miss. portion size fine. can expand appitizer menu. multiple items on menu not avialable based on time of dining
