Went to Mandolin two (2) years ago and couldn’t wait to go back. It was worth the wait! Excellent food and outstanding service.
The food was excellent, especially the 1 dollar special oysters on the half shell!
We were rushed in and out for our Easter brunch. My husband and kids enjoyed their meal but I thought mine was okay. The coffee was lukewarm and bitter. Our server was very nice and accommodating. Overall the brunch was fine, it just wasn't my favorite brunch spot in Raleigh. We really do enjoy Mandolin in the evenings at the bar area though. I probably wouldn't recommend Mandolin for brunch but for other meals I may.
I visited for brunch on Easter Sunday and had the ham, spinach, and goat cheese quiche. I thought it was good, maybe a little heavy on the goat cheese, but the crust was flaky and it was just the right portion size. The field greens salad it came with was a little underwhelming, though; kind of heavy on the "earthy" flavor. I will say though, I blame myself for my less than 5 star food experience. I took a risk and ordered something I wouldn't normally go for- I should've gone with a sourdough waffle or the country breakfast. The ambiance was everything I look for in a restaurant, though! It felt warm, modern, great noise level in terms of a buzz but not loud, and the service was perfect. I'll be back for sure!
We had brunch here on Easter. The biscuits were too chewy for our tastes. My spouse had eggs benedict and I had a chicken salad sandwich. I did not enjoy the sour dough bread with the sandwich. I found it too thick for the amount of salad, and ended up eating the chicken salad without the bread. My spouse enjoyed her meal, and thought the side of potatoes were light and yet crunchy. We took home a strawberry shortcake to enjoy later. Here again, the biscuit was off. It tasted like too much baking soda was used.
Lovely Easter brunch with my family. Great ambiance
The Chicken and Waffles were really enjoyed by those that ordered it - the strip steak - not so much - was overcooked, and the bleu cheese gratin was cold (maybe that's the way it's suppose to be served?) and the waiter mixed up the red wine order so I got the wrong red wine - I will just go with the chicken and waffles next time - the service was great, and the atmosphere was good - would go again, maybe....
Outstanding value for money. Wonderful food and service
Wonderful restaurant. Creative cooking with farm to table ingredients. Nice atmosphere.
A true gem in the neighborhood. We always go early to take it vantage of the one dollar oysters special. These locally sourced oysters are fabulous. Still making my way through the menu but so far everything has been terrific. My only complaint is as a handicap person it is difficult to get in and out of the restaurant
It was truly amazing. Better than I had hoped for!
This is my second visit to Mandolin over a year's time. The food is superb and I like the variety without the menu being overwhelming. We had the two appetizer specials (beet salad with strawberries and also a soft shell crab salad) - both were perfect. We each had a different entree from full out strip sirloin to a vegetarian butternut squash dish, smoked pork chop and the chicken pot pie. I would choose any one of those again (we all tasted!) and each of us claimed ours the best. We had great service - professional and friendly and not overbearing. This is a restaurant not to be missed.
First time at Mandolin, did not disappoint! Our waitress and the staff were friendly and attentive.
Nice space in an area of town I had not really been to before. Food was very good. Nice selection of options.
Innovative, fresh, delicious.
SO FABULOUS!!!! MINDBLOWN!!!
The food was better than the service. Our server was too talkative, mostly about himself. He also aggressively tried to up-sell. I’d still go again for dinner but hopefully would have a different server.
It's the third night in a row that I come here. The food and ambiance is great, and the service is unparalleled. The Pork Chop is fenomenal.
Great service and food. My most favorite go-to place.
The food is very unique, a party of flavors and textures. And the service is unparalleled!!! Great place!
Great place for a special dinner and to support the local farmer and environment.
Incredible farm to table cuisine. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, including the location which is in a residential area. The server was incredibly knowledgeable about the food and the wine. he was able to make thoughtful wine recommendations and background on several of the dishes. The staff was attentive but not intrusive. Overall, this was a wonderful "grown-up" night out, perfect for a special evening or a nicer dinner.
Went for brunch. Was just getting over a cold, so I ordered basic brunch fare instead of one of the more unusual signature dishes. I had the omelette du jour, packed with lots of fresh veggies, but short on flavor. Next time I will order differently. My guest had the benedict which she enjoyed. Wonderful service. My only wish is that is was quieter. It was noisy, not the energetic, good vibe kind, but the hard to hear each other in conversation kind.
Excellent!!! Our waiter, John was great in offering suggestions. We made reservations for the end of the month before we left! Oh, the bar service was also great! Very pleasant and warm staff. We have date night every Saturday! This place will be on our rotation!
Excellent food, friendly and knowledgeable waiter
It was strange that Saturday brunch menu does not include any desserts - we were celebrating my mother-in-law's BD and ended up asking to bring over a candle stuck into the bisquit rather than in the slice of a cake.
We've enjoyed all of our meals and special occasions at Mandolin. The menu changes frequently and I've found myself exploring new items each time we've gone. The noise level can be high, my father with hearing aids had a hard time listening to our conversations.
The food was awesome!!! The waiters were so helpful, and fun. We met the chef and manager and enjoyed talking to them about the restaurant and the food. Really had a great time there.
Beautiful farm to table restaurant, tucked away near the outskirts of Cameron Village. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was fresh and delicious. Service was impeccable, and the ambiance was very nice. Wine list was extensive. We will definitely be dining here again.
Food and service were outstanding. Server was very knowledgeable of the food and made good recommendations. Had the Triggerfish (never had that) and it was cooked perfectly with amazing andouille and bean bed. Will go back without hesitation. A bit pricey for a date night but special occasion(Anniversary) for sure.
Excellent dining experience. Reservations were easy, the restaurant was beautiful and the food delicious.
Our waitperson (Elizabeth) was outstanding. The food was yummy - especially the broccoli and desserts. The NY Strip was very good, but $32 for a 12-oz that was not as tender as expected was a little overpriced. The appletini was fine. Ambience was lovely, aside from the noise level and being too close to other guests.
The food was delicious! Great service from Adam! He made some really great wine recommendations. I will definitely be back.
We stopped in for a quick bite. The oysters were very fresh. I had the striped bass and my husband had the steak tartare and the salad. Food was fresh and service very good.
I made a last minute reservation after arriving in Raleigh for a concert based on a recommendation of a friend. I can honestly say I was not disappointed. Our server, Doug I believe was his name, was very understanding and timed our food perfectly after we let him know our time restrictions. The food was delicious and the presentation was easily an 11 out of 10.
I’m looking forward to trying this place again when I can be more leisurely with my approach to dinner.
This was such a great find! Fabulous, fresh, and interesting food at an incredibly reasonable price. We loved it!!
Brunch is delicious!
this was second time we visited. first time we were in the smaller room with another couple and did not notice noise. this time , we were in big room and TOO NOISY.
next time we come we will ask for the small room to the right as you enter.
Lovely as always. Perfect food and great service too
My sister and I are in town for a little girls weekend and stopped in here for brunch on a Saturday morning. We were happy with the whole experience start to finish & cant wait to come back to Raleigh so we can eat here again!
