Wonderful farm to table food. Everything is fresh and local which is so nice. The atmosphere is very quaint, quiet and relaxing.
Had never been before. Three of us shared a ribeye steak which was arguably the best I’d ever had. Other items were all very good too.
Been in Raleigh for 7 months now and I think this is the best meal I’ve had out so far. We had the beef tartare, oysters mandolin, striped bass, chicken & waffles, caramel cake and dessert cheese plate. Each item I found outstanding. Service by Andrew was informative, well paced and relaxed. I would save this one for a special occasion, but you won’t be disappointed.
The food was delicious but the shrimp and grits I got was super rich and cheesy. Too much so for me. It was glistening with fat when it arrived at the table. Super tasty though. It was a cold and rainy day and they ran out of hot caffeinated black tea. The only choice was decaf, camomile, or iced. I thought that was odd. Our server was good. And took special effort to have the kitchen make some beignets for a birthday dessert which is not a menu item. It may have been the loudest spot I've been to in a while but the seating is intimate so it was OK. I'm looking forward to coming back for dinner sometime. This was my first time in.
Great for brunch. Excellent food and service. When we were there the restaurant was full and the noise level was extremely high.
The best food around, nice atmosphere
Everything was wonderful food meal but to loud we couldn’t hear our own words.
Just for something like yesterday for late Value Day it has to be Romantic but if it to loud it takes the atmosphere.
But we will come back.
Good food, excellent service
What a great discovery! Most of the menu is locally sourced or from their farm. We were there for Saturday Brunch and and the restaurant was busy but not packed. Food was awesome and we didn’t feel rushed. Absolutely will return!
We had a wonderful time! Food was delicious and service was excellent!!
Excellent food. Excellent service. The atmosphere was great. The only gripe I have is the amount of space between tables. It felt kind of cramped. Other than that, everything else exceeded expectations
Overall wonderful experience, great service, and food. Thanks for a lovely evening!
Great farm to table dining experience! Excellent food, excellent service!
Worth it, few places are. This is coming from someone who really can't afford to go there much. I am happy to spend a little more for a special meal.
The food is amazing. The service was top notch and friendly! We had a great time! Parking is the only slight drawback ... I'd give 4.5 stars if I could.
Good food, attendant was over booked with guests but did well; seating could have been better
They knocked it out of the park again on our last visit. We loved the amuse Bouche! And I’ve never been a fan of collards until I had them here. Love all the broths and the 62° egg with the fish was fabulous!
We had a wonderful dinner at Mandolin - outstanding service, nicely paced so we did not feel rushed. We started with sharing a charcuterie platter and a cheese platter, both of which were generous enough for the four of us to enjoy. Our entrees were each perfectly cooked. Our servers did an excellent job which is not always the case in Raleigh restaurants - very professional and efficient, served and cleared correctly. We'll be back.
Excellent food and service. Howevet it is very noisy and the restaurant wasn't even full.
Loved Mandolin and would go again. Great service and food.
Have been a few times now, the food, service, and overall experience are always top notch.
Went there Friday February 8th at 7:15. Our table was ready high was great.got a 13.00 3 oz pout of Chardonnay(that always makes me sad). Once seated you truly realize how noisy the restaurant is.With our waiter and he came out and we ordered appetizers to share we order two for four people. Once they came out we were surprised to see that the roasted broccoli was comprised of literally one stock of broccoli. The steak tartare had five homemade potato chips and a tiny amount of steak it was not nearly enough to share in fact the table ate the entire bread basket because they had enough of appetizer. This is where it really started to get bad or weird or simply abandoned us we did not see him again until we had finished our entrées the entrées frankly were the best part of the entire meal the portion is adequate I just thought that the food was that… Adequate. We then got his attention with difficulty and ordered two desserts again to share the reason we had, was to try the chocolate soufflé it came out in a tiny three ounce dish ur spoons barely fit in it. Our bill for this meal with well over $200 the other problem that I had was a lack of service our waiters did not come back to our table I saw him waiting on other tables but he seemed to want to ignore hours. I would say that if you live in the area and you would like to eat at the bar this might be a great spot to grab something at the bar but if you’re looking for a special evening out I certainly would not suggest this.
The food was not up to the standard that I expect for Mandolin
We've tried this place a few times over the years. It never gets any better. $70+ for a rib eye that was very very tough. The menu is small, and if the items were excellent that would be great, but they're not. Our server was very nice but had too many tables he was trying to take care of. Very disappointed as usual with this restaurant. We will not return or recommend.
This was our first time dining at Mandolin. We both appreciated the selection of farm to table choices. The bass was delicious as was the butternut squash with soup. The chocolate soufflé was out of this world. The wine and beer selections were also appreciated.
Delicious dinner. Great service by our waiter, Doug.
The food is absolutely delicious! The valet parking makes getting in a breeze and the service is phenomenal.
While the food and service is excellent. It would be nice if there were a few more options on the menu
Very good meal! Parking could be easier.
We ate in the bar because we wanted to order off both the bar and dinner menu. I ordered a butternut squash dish that was interesting. My husband order the chicken tenders, coleslaw, and fries. He would have liked more dressing on the coleslaw and the fries to be crispy. Unfortunately it was so cold, I had to keep my coat over my shoulders to stay warm. The service was very good as they mixed together honey and mustard to make a dipping sauce for the chicken tenders.
We have been here several times for brunch and prefer the menu offered then.
Very enjoyable evening. Great service and non-rushed.
Nothing was bad, but nothing was very good either. Definitely not worth the price. This was our third time there and the previous two times were really good. We hadn't been there in about 2 years. The service, flavors and quality just weren't what we had experienced in the past. Not sure when or if we'll try it again.
Great food but service lacking
Excellent as always
Bright, happy atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon. Very limited choices for plant-based options, but what we found was tasty.
The menu needs some upgrading. I am surprised that dessert is not served for brunch. I had the fish entree and was offended that the skin was not removed from the presentation. I had to disassemble the creation in order to remove the skin. It would be so easy to do that while assembling in the kitchen - just a suggestion. Our waiter was very good and food tasty but nothing worth bringing me back.
Love the experience at Mandolin. Was a bit word going in since we mostly eat in downtown Raleigh/Durham and this was a in the Oberlin area. Happily surprised. Drinks where fantastic. Appetizers where impressive, only comment is the Oysters Mandolin was more about the pork belly than the oysters but was a great dish. We had the prime rib special for dinner and it was hand down one of the best steaks I have had and I eat steak fairly often. On top of the great food service was on point. Will definitely be back.
Kathy was knowledgeable and friendly and helped guide a few of us towards meals we thoroughly enjoyed. Her wine recommendations were wonderful. The food was excellent as always. Oysters Mandolin were a hit. The steak was perfectly cooked. No complaints. Can’t wait to return.
Very limited menu which is why we don't go often but this time choices were very good. Don't like that there's a $2 upcharge to change starches - rice to potatoes. That's unaccommodating.
