Magpie is a modern British restaurant tucked away on Heddon Street, behind Regent Street.

Coming from the team behind Hackney's Pidgin, we call our food 'modern European' which basically means nothing and everything at the same time. Dishes aren't rooted in any particular cuisine but instead focus on great ingredients combined to make something that is above all delicious but that also contains some element of surprise - whether that's Jerusalem artichoke with a ranch butter sauce and avruga caviar, steak tartare with truffle crisps and taleggio or oysters with apple and chilli crisp.

Our wine list includes the biggest selection of wines on tap in London, as well as a small list of wines by the bottle, all from independent and independently minded producers.

Cocktails are potent and fun and include a szechuan pepper oil negroni and a kombu-infused martini.

Set in trendy Heddon Street, this intimate restaurant punches above its weight for the price one pays. The kitchen is open so you can see the chefs at work. The service is attentive and accommodating. The ambiance is low-key smart casual - perfect for a catch up between a group of friends. Please please try the burrata, truffled celariac and roasted cabbage main. Magpie has an interesting British take on all of them. (Note: The toilets aren't in the best condition at the moment, but that's forgiven because they do acknowledge and apologise for it.)

A delightful evening at Magpie. Gorgeous staff, delicious food and a relaxed environment. We were allowed all the time we wanted to enjoy our meal (so many restaurants now rush you to finish in 1.5 hours!). I will definitely return. Thank you for a great evening Magpie team!

Excellent food and service. We had several small plates to share, and each one was interesting and tasty. I ovative yet comforting food. Amazing cocktails too!

Excellent, quite unusual food - very artistic and beautifully served. Nice friendly waitress but service slightly slow. I would definitely eat here again, the food was very good and it wasn't too noisy but yet not too quiet.

Having had the most incredible meal at sister restaurant Pidgin last summer, we were really keen to try Magpie. The central location was great and the restaurant itself had a lovely dimly lit atmosphere. Sadly the food didnt quite match up to our high expectations and we didnt feel the money we paid for it really reflected the quality or choice. Would give it a second try but not in a rush to go back.

An informal modern setting, in a central location just off Regent Street. The menu is very original and we particularly enjoyed the spicy Negroni - special!

This is my second time eating at Magpie and the food is always executed flawlessly. The only thing I have to say (and this is just a personal preference) is that while the food is great, it is not memorable, which I think at the price one pays, it definitely should be.
