For over two decades, Deepak Kapoor has strived to achieve a sense of family dining at his Traditional Indian - and Putney staple, Ma Goa. Since its opening in 1993, Dee and his Mother (Ma) have continued to evolve their menu, adapting flavours and cooking with fresh ingredients procured weekly from Tooting Market. Their only rule? Everything must be delicious!

While many Indian Restaurants now use short-cuts in their cookery, the chefs at Ma Goa are proud of the fact that each of their dishes are cooked individually, The Kitchen is very much a Family operation - Ma still cooks most mornings while Dee's three children contribute ideas and love to help the chefs!

In 2017, the Kapoor family did a complete overhaul of their successful eatery. Adding a craft beer tap wall and replacing the white table cloths with a rustic, marketplace interior, they have brought Ma Goa back to its roots: fuss-free, authentic food straig

We’ve eaten at Ma Goa many times over the years. Food and service always great. This time we had the Ragra Samosas, lamb shank special, Ma’s Baigan (the aubergine dish which we always go for), a chicken jalfriezi type dish and a chicken biryani. They were all delicious. Thoroughly recommend.

The food and service was great. We were a group of 9 and were beside a group of about 10-12 who were the noisiest people in the world, so it was very difficult to hear anyone else at our table. No fault of the restaurant of course.

Yes enjoyed my last trip in for a meal. The restaurant was busy, so a few times it took a tad longer than normal to get served but other than that lovely to be back in. 😁👍

We absolutely love Ma Goa & have brought friends there quite a few times now. Lovely food, great setting, helpful staff... BUT one recent change I'd honestly request you reverse asap: the phone based ordering - we found it unnecessarily complicated and took the joy out of surveying a menu. Please get rid before we come back next time!

Dave, so pleased you enjoyed the food on your last visit to us. You are missing the point behind our new "OPTIONAL" ordering system. I'm sure you're fully aware of the dire situation our industry is facing with recruiting staff. On occasions we only have 2 rather than 4 staff on a Friday & Saturday night. Quite simply, our new system enables us to continue trading. Most importantly, we are happy to take orders normally if any customer is not happy with the new system. Thanks for understanding x
