   Service was good. Food in the buffet was warm to cold. Ordering straight from the Chef is a guaranty the food is hot. The choice of cold items was excellent. Very clean and beautiful.

   We went to this restaurant on our final night in Vale. It was a great choice and was a great way to end the trip. It was expensive so be ready for that. But worth it.

   We have enjoyed breakfast at Ludwig’s three days in a row. The staff, food and ambiance has been incredible! A must go to restaurant while staying at The Sonnenalp Hotel & Spa!

   Really cool setting, love the Bavarian theme. Food was really good but Buffet is over-priced. You could order 2 entrees that are made fresh and still have money left over vs buying the buffet.

   We had a fabulous time! Especially enjoyed the crab cake, unlike any other. Beautiful presentation. The venison duo was also beautifully presented and tasted even better. Lovely experience in a traditional alpine dining room.

   Disappointing. Service slow, apologies were Germanic as if it was our fault for being part of a busy evening. Nice touches (great salads) were offset by a couple of menu choices we regretted (the gnocchi is actually not a pasta dish) and vegetarian menu choices visible on the online menu which we checked for our guests were not available. This is a beautiful space but they really take their Vail vacation audience for granted. Since we are locals we will not be back soon

    Food is excellent and value is reasonable for resort dining Unfortunately we were seated at the table near the door, which was very busy with crowds brushing by - although we reached out in advance to request a specific table We also had to wait 30 minutes from seating until we were served our beverage Our waiter was very personable and the meal service picked up after the initial delay

    The ambiance is wonderful, although our area was warm to the point of being uncomfortable. The food was incredible. The dover sole, tenderloin, and the lamb carpaccio can’t be beat!

    See my recent previous review. As before, dinner was superb and service impeccable. One major difference this time was I had the arugula and radicchio salad with blue cheese instead of the Caesar. The Caesar was very good but this was even better. Also highly recommend the hamachi starter which was omakase quality. My two best meals in Vail this ski season were both at Ludwig’s.

    We had a lovely dining experience at Ludwig’s. The Swiss decor and service were top notch. Our Austrian waiter, Dominic was very engaging and knowledgeable about all menu items and made helpful suggestions.     Superb dinner. The sea bass preparations was extraordinary. One of the best seafood dishes I have ever had. Beef ragout was also excellent. Maria, our personable server, was outstanding. She knew the preparation and qualities of every dish on the menu and was equally knowledgeable about the extensive wine list. It was a perfect evening!

    On Jan29, I had a Sunday brunch reservation-booked about a week earlier-for 2 at Noon. At 11:15 a.m. on the 29th, I picked up a voicemail message left at 10:30 a.m. from Ludwig’s saying we had to be there by 11:30a.m. We arrived at 11:45 a.m. to a buffet of mostly cold food that was supposed to be hot. The omelet station was unattended. We were told we could not order from the menu. It’s just breakfast, you might say. True, except at Ludgwig’s breakfast for two is $110. All of this is beneath a hotel of the Sonenalp’s quality, which shouldn’t seek Noon reservations for a brunch it apparently, that day, wanted to close at Noon. Nor should it call its guests 90 minutes before the reservation to say show up earlier than the reservation it took. Herr Ludwig, we won’t be back.

    While the food was good, service was very poor. Not the place to go for fun, more of a quiet sophisticated Place. They also had limited cocktails- could not do a margarita or an espresso martini. Large wine selection.
