Behind an unmarked door adjacent to the wine room, guests are transported to District 1 (China Town) in Saigon via Blackhouse’s 28-seat restaurant-within-a-restaurant, LSXO. A spinoff of the Little Sister brand (Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach & Downtown Los Angeles), LSXO is love letter to the culture, heritage, and lineage of Vietnam (Vuong’s relatives hail from the region). While Little Sister is known for its French Vietnamese menu, LSXO follows the same Southeast Asian inspiration with a more refined feel.

“There is no signage for LSXO—you can spot the entrance of it tucked into a section inside Bluegold, but you’ll have to know it’s there. While Bluegold is light, bright, and airy, LSXO is its darker, edgier little sister,” says Vuong. “Both restaurants operate out of the same kitchen, though the menus are completely different. LSXO offers straight-up, honest, home-style Vietnamese cuisine—the type of food I grew up eating with my grandparents in the San Gabriel Valley

Great experience overall. The restaurant was cozily-decorated. Views of the beach added an extra layer of chill. The music kept things fun and fresh. Drinks were unique and delicious. Finally, the food was fantastic. Our favorites were the dumplings and sea bass.

Absolutely love coming here! Everytime is perfect. Obviously the food is incredible as well as the bang for your buck, but what really stands out is the service. They were all so on top of it, we never had to ask for anything. Can’t wait to come back

Terrific dishes and great service. This was my first visit. I asked our server, Jasmine, to order for us. She took our menus away and treated us to a fantastic meal that included 6 delicious dishes, starting with the steak tartare. It was an exciting evening with the surprise of one dish after another. The crispy rice and the pork chop were standouts. We’ll be back to try more.

I expected more from the entrees. The spring roll was very soggy due to the pickled daikon and carrots. The papaya salad was drenched with dressing like a soup and not lightly tossed. The pork chops flavor was good, but the presenting of the plate with the rice and salad looked like it was just scooped on. Even though we did not enjoy the food, the service was good and the outside window view from our table was nice.

Good food, good drinks, and good times. Can’t ask for much more. This was a really cool experiance and got much more then expected with the privacy of a speak easy time feel. Would highly recommend for Birthday Dinners and such. A+
