The utensils were dirty (replaced) and the napkins smelled of mold. Ordered one drink and never saw the servers again until served the entrees. Maybe some of this is a result of Covid related staffing issues, but we can see others being served as immediately. We were a party of 9 with our own section by door that leads to the kitchen. Appetizer smaller than expected but the rest of the food was good.
It’s been a couple years since we’ve been there. Unfortunately it has gone downhill: Not enough help for waitstaff. Food overpriced. Menu very slim. Hostesses not friendly. Probably won’t be coming back any time soon.
Menu has changed so much. So disappointed. REALLY miss the pizza bread and no alternative was offered before meal. There should be some sort of bread, etc when you begin your evening. My dinner (prawns) was very good. My friend’s dinner (veal piccata) was just okay. Hostess was fabulous, very accommodating. My friend and I were a little indecisive about our order and the waiter grew internally impatient and for the rest of the evening was “checked out” and unfriendly to us while charming to all other diners around us. Partly our fault for being indecisive but unprofessional on his part esp since we provided no other difficulties the rest of the evening. My friend received the wrong order and the guy that pours the water quickly had it replaced with her correct order. Longhi’s used to be my “MUST GO TO” restaurant and in the past I would have raved about this restaurant but it was a very disappointing return visit unfortunately. Please bring back the pizza bread!! Also, masks necessary in open outdoor dining??? What’s the point? I know “it’s the Governor” but such a pointless requirement!
Hostess was not friendly and borderline rude.
Was denied seating placement, even though tables were empty and others with even a smaller group were allowed to sit where we originally requested.
The server was absolutely amazing and the only positive of the evening.
New York steak was very chewy.
Remainder of the food lacked flavor and was very bland.
The hostess was rude when we checked in 15 mins early for our reservation. When we did get seated, our server was literally running around like crazy. We ordered one drink, a salad and an entree. The server stopped by with water and said she was on her way get the drink we ordered. She walked away and our entree came out by someone else. No starter salads yet. Shortly after, the drink was delivered by someone else. We ate about half the entree when the server finally came back and realized we hadn’t gotten our salad. I asked her to cancel it and she ran off. As we were finishing the entree, the salad finally came out, by someone else. Who was visibly unhappy when I told her we had cancelled the salad. We got our bill and left. The entire meal and service was so disappointing. We were in an out in less than 30 minutes which just isn’t the ambiance or experience we were expecting. I won’t be back nor will I recommend the restaurant.
The waitress was rushed and we had to ask several times for a refill
We had a great time!!
Dined at Longhi's many times prior to Covid and it was always delicious, last night was not the case. People barged in front of us at the front desk, there was a sign on the door "we will only be serving drinks from 3-4pm" which we though meant no drinks would be served when they meant to say "we will be serving ONLY drinks from 3-4pm" and the food was mediocre at best in addition to be out of most deserts and several entrees. Gnocchi inedible, prawns rubbery, and calamari soggy and the wait help was understaffed and overworked barely giving us service ... at this point, not going back for very expensive lousy food.
We were seated promptly but that’s the best compliment I can leave. The waitress complained many times about being short staffed. I really don’t want to hear that as a customer. They were out of many items on the menu. Bread didn’t make it to our table until late in the meal. The food and drink were fair. I’d recommend going to the restaurant directly to the right of Longhi’s. Food, service and prices were much better.
We had the rigatoni bolognese and the fried calamari and both were terrible. Would not recommend.
Unfortunately Long wait, need more waiters - food is good
Food was great. Not enough employees and poor cleaning protocols.
We have had trouble getting reservations at nice restaurants while vacationing in Maui. So, Longhi’s had an opening at a decent hour and we took it. First red flag should have been that they required a 25.00 deposit for a reservation. But, beggars can’t be choosers so We reserved a table at the one in the shops of Wailea. Weren’t many people when we arrived, the floor needed cleaning, the tables and chairs were worn. It was obvious to us that the restaurant was short on help, so the servers were new and extremely inexperienced. They literally brought our drinks, bread, salad, and dinner all at once! I couldn’t believe it…I’ve never had that happen before…lol. Unfortunately, our order was not completely correct, by the time the rest of our order came, we were finished eating! Hey, I don’t mind paying for good food. But, a few pieces of baby romaine on a small plate, with store bought croutons was 12.00! Some of it was wilted. The breaded chicken was good though…but, this was our last night in Maui and I wish we would have gone back to Cafe Ole.
Great food! Location was pretty and easy to get to! I enjoyed everything I ate and drank!
Awful food, slow service and extremely over priced. Ordered rigatoni bolognese and got penne with a soupy/graining tomato water sauce with chunks of meat. Don’t recommend, especially for this price point. Absurdly bad.
The prices did not match the quality of the food. The gnocchi was over cooked. The veal was very salty. The $55 steak was pretty flavorless as were the potato served with it.
We wanted one really nice meal out while on vacation on Maui and were willing to spend big. Which we did but were so disappointed.
Even the service was not good. My martini was served in such a way that it spilled and we had no napkins to wipe it up.
We had to ask for bread after our meals came. Server was nice but not very knowledgeable or timely.
We had dined at longhis years ago and d we enjoyed it.
Did Covid mess things up?
Delicious food in charming open air restaurant. Only critique was service was extremely rushed! First drink served as same time of appetizer. Unable to relax and enjoy.
Food just ok. Small patio table with no cover despite reservations. No offer to refill anything but alcohol.
Good food excellent naervice
Food OK but overpriced for the value.
My Rigatoni bolognese was made with penne instead presentation was sloppy and my pasta under cooked. Husbands veal scallopini was hard and tasted only like butter and the pasta was doughy. Food arrived less than 10 min so i dont know if it was rushed. Unfortunate being you pay so much. Also we sat next to a pole highly doubt we were 6ft from the other table with people. Out waiter was great and drink was great otherwise disappinted in the quality of the meal for the price. Im not one to grumble but our food experience wasnt very good at all.
Food was fine, service was fine. But they can do a whole lot more with the ambiance & feel. Considering the price point, it can be a long more polished & clean. From the interior design to the dinnerware, nothing really stuck out. There's a lot of potential & it's in a great space, but if they can't address those things, they can't really stick out of the pack & would consider themselves mediocre & overpriced compared to the rest of the Wailea dining scene.
Please save yourself the trip and go somewhere else. We couldn’t get reservations anywhere else so we opted for this place. The availability on a Friday night should have been a sign. The food here is extremely mediocre at best. An Italian place that puts guacamole on a crab cake?!? What in the?! We left wishing we would have just opted for a quick meal at a hole in the wall. It would have been a better meal than what we had, no doubt!!!!
Food was very sub par. Price was high. No free dessert for birthday! Very disappointed
Food was incredible and our waiter was amazing. Very friendly and responsive and accommodated every special request we had.
Food was underwhelming. A small piece of Fried chicken with a few pieces of gnocchi…. Not sure fried chicken is part of Italian cuisine.
The fish of the day dish was severely overpriced !! 55 /- for a small piece of Mahimahi. Never going back.
Food was good and came out quick and hot. Atmosphere was very pleasant. Would recommend!
Calamari was terrible. Rest of food was average at best. Cost to value bad.
Lots of availability at this restaurant vs other restaurants in the area.
The person who greeted us may have been at the end of her shift. Was not very welcoming - more as if she didn’t want to be bothered even though there were not many customers.
Once past this I’m comfortable experience, we were very pleased.
Food was excellent and the server was delightful. He was friendly and patient and seemed happy to be there with the customers.
This restaurant would be packed if people were aware of the quality of the food and server. Will need to improve the reception though - very off putting
We enjoyed lunch at Longhi's Wailea. We were greeted and seated quickly. Our drinks were strong and delicious. Our entrees were yummy--the fish tacos were a huge hit (2 tacos per order), the burger was juicy and moist (with yummy fries). We asked if the chef could prepare a simple pasta pomdoro with onions and the chef accommodated us with a popping-fresh pasta dish. Great experience, lovely courtyard setting with shading from the hot sun.
3 of the 4 of us didn't finish our drinks because they didn't taste good. The food was disappointing, some arriving cold, pasta undercooked. Overall not great.
Poor service, food was mediocre at best and overpriced for what we ate. Would never recommend.
Our food was outstanding and our server was excellent. I’m never disappointed here.
Loved everything! 10/10! Food was delicious! Definitely one of our favorite meals.
Our waitress was the best! She really took care of everyone’s special requests and was fast to return with that was needed. The atmosphere was very nice. Good drink selections. The food was good - most of our party had the fish special and said it was tasty; the crab cake and pasta primavera were ok.
Understanding that the menu was extremely limited due to just coming back from COVID restrictions, it was still completely disappointing. Very few options, served cold.
The server was terrible and very slow to respond.
Just a very disappointing experience for a place that asked you to guarantee your reservation with a credit card
This place is not worth going to. I don’t know if the management reads reviews, but it took over an hour to get food, and what arrived was overcooked and extremely pedestrian. I ordered prawns and what i got were shrimp. I know the difference. It was noisy as all get out, atmosphere of a Denny’s- definitely not fine dining. I know they are understaffed, but they could do soooo much more to make this a destination vacation restaurant. $125 for two - no alcohol and one appetizer that was forgotten and arrived five minutes before our entrees and I had to remind our server. We didn’t stick around for dessert.
Worst service I’ve ever had. It was hard to believe.
Poor service. Food quality was significantly less than expected for the price. If your looking for mediocre service and food quality followed by an overpriced bill. This is the restaurant for you.
