I've been to Lohi Steakbar 5 or 6 times. As always it was outstanding.
I have special dietary needs, and the staff was very creative and accommodating. The noise level was too high, though, and parking was almost three blocks away. I would totally go again because the service and food were stellar!
The happy hour menu is a great deal and the food was awesome! We had a pretty impromptu date night but no wait for a table outside and the whole experience was very enjoyable.
The half chicken was sooo good. The Mac and cheese was also delicious. My boyfriend enjoyed his steak with the LoHi seasoning. His whiskey ginger was great and I had the house wine which I loved.
We had high hopes for the steak here but unfortunately they were over cooked. The LoHi seasoning is great but they put WAY too much on. The oysters were fantastic though. Just expected much more from a high-end “steak” restaurant.
We love LoHi Steakbar! The food is always great, the staff are so welcoming and accommodating. This has become our go to restaurant for any occasion rather we are are ordering takeaway, celebrating a special occasion or just having happy hour or a cocktail. Thanks LoHi team for never disappointing us. You all rock!!
Good wine list, great steaks and interesting cornbread croutons. Kitchen timing was poor, though: our salads, soup and entrees all arrived simultaneously.
This is our go-to in Lohi whenever we are visiting. I don't eat steak but the rest of my party enjoyed it very much. Scallops for me, they were also amazing! Introduced many friends and family to Steak Bar over the past couple of years and everyone always very satisfied.
Fantastic meal. Outstanding service. Wish I tried this place sooner. The drinks were great. Apps amazing. The short rib app was a perfect dish. The steaks were amazing. The wine list was good. It helped that there were good staff to help navigate to some good choices. Will be back! Thank you
I understand the inconsistency in reviews now that we visited the LOHi. The person that sat us down was great! Our waiter was ok but for some reason wanted to serve our salads with our entree. The decor was adorable. Ok wine list. Music could of been turned down a little to allow for visiting. Took a while to get waited on after we were sat at our table. Finally water was served and then quite a while later someone, not our waiter, came to take our drink order. While waiting for our drink order our waiter came to take our drink order. Since we had already given someone our drink order we gave our waiter an order for appetizers. They came out a while later. Everything was slow even though we were visiting a lot. We ordered calamari and artichoke dip. Calamari was ok not great. Artichoke dip was good cheesy made with Cheddar cheese. Different but good. We ordered 4 steaks,1 hamburger and 1 French dip. We also order two salads that didn’t come until 10 minutes after our steaks. We said no thanks. The burger and French dip also arrived at least 10 minutes after our steaks. They were huge w fries and looked great. The steaks had good flavor but were over cooked. The garlic potatoes and butter for the steak was good. The service was very slow. We were told they were missing people, however no one tried to make it up to us except to offer to not charge us for the very late salads we never ate. They were so late we sent them back. Too little too late! Since we were a party of 6 a 20% tip was added to the bill automatically. Read the fine print! Not sure I will give it another try.
Their filet steak is wonderful. Cooked to perfection!
Service was outstanding. Noise level was terrible, had to shout to talk to person sitting next to you. Asked for music to be turned down-didn’t work. Server agreed music was too loud. This will keep us from returning.
Not as good as I thought or remembered. Great atmosphere and likely a great place for drinks. Food was disappointing.
Such a great neighborhood spot. Food was wonderful. Wine was even better. Our server was lovely.
*I am allergic to many food items and they were extremely accommodating*
Great neighborhood spot, serving the most consistently delicious steak for date night and special occassions alike!
The restaurant was understaffed so service was a little slow, but we enjoyed cocktails and appetizers while we waited. Flatiron steaks and sandwiches were outstanding and we enjoyed our meal.
The filet steak was to die for! The Manhattan was also outstanding.
James was awesome, Food was awesome, atmosphere was awesome. I could go on and on and on... Just try it out!
The service was horrendous. I had to track down my server at the end of the meal just to pay. Worst service I have had at a restaurant in a while.
Great spot, never disappoints. One of my favorite restaurants in town
Great service! It was the first visit for us and we will return.
I had 4 Japanese clients to feed late at night. They wanted to have a traditional American style steak & I found this restaurant. When I called to make a reservation, it was already past 10PM & I was informed that the kitchen will close at 11PM. The lady who answered the phone was very polite, kind, & helpful. We were able to make it to the restaurant a little after 10:30PM. In most cases, when anyone shows up close to the closing time, they feel some tensions, cold shoulder, and/or rude manner. I was very pleased to find out that the waitress was whom I spoke with over the phone earlier. She was very welcoming and patient. My clients could not speak English very well and there were moments of confusion but she handled it in a very professional manner. As you may know, Japanese expects higher customer service than what we are used to. My clients work for a Japanese Media company & they were in Denver for a documentary filming. I was very surprised to find out the Producer wanted to take a photo with the waitress. I must assert that he was overtaking not only her looks but her demeanor. Everyone knew that we got to the restaurant very late and more less expected rude behavior from all the employees. As a Coordinator, I would like to extend my sincere "thank you" to the waitress who waited on us (I did not get her name but she was a Caucasian, petite, and very attractive). I was not sure how much the Producer tipped her (Japan has no tip system so he may have tipped her less than what normal rate, 15%?) but that was not to indicate her level of service but not knowing the system. I also quietly tipped her in case she did not receive her fair share of tip. I can not say anything bad at all with the experience I had at LoHi Steak Bar. I live in New Mexico and I assure you that if I visit Denver again, I will dine at the LoHi Restaurant.
We chose this restaurant because it was a steak place in the neighborhood that we were staying in, (LoHi) and had decent reviews.
The service was friendly and the room was current. My friends all enjoyed their meals. My flat iron steak was overcooked ( I ordered med rare), and very over seasoned with their special seasoning blend. A side of beets was ok. Two friends had the filet, which was tender and flavorful, and 1 friend had the scallop dish, which he liked.
It seemed to be a popular place with the locals for drinks and bar scene.
My friend and I dined here on the dining passbook and thoroughly enjoyed our food and beverages but the service we received was sadly disappointing. The server was curt, dismissive and impatient and made us feel unwelcome. Fortunately we did not allow it to ruin our evening but we would hope for better service should we dine there again.
We were in Dallas for a concert/birthday weekend and we had dinner the night before at another restaurant nearby, saw this one and thought we'd give it a try. Everything about the restaurant was outstanding. Our server took great care of us like we were a regular. Highly recommend LoHi Steakbar for any occasion. Going to go back the next time we are in Denver.
steaks and brussel sprouts were average, half of our steaks were overdone, fries were awful - really dry and hard like they had been re-heated, prices were exorbitant. service was merely ok. nothing to justify returning.
Ordered rare filet came as medium way over done. Server was not really focused. When this place first opened it was excellent and a favorite.
The food was fine, but when it costs the same as if I'd gone to one of the big steak houses, like Mortons, Del Friscos, then it needs to be as perfect as they would prepare it. I understand now why they weren't busy on a Frday night at 7:30 pm after walking past the crowds outside Linger and other neighborhood spots. Whoever is in charge needs to actually taste the food, identify the problems, and make some improvements asap.
We had an Sunday dinner reservation for 6 people. My husband and I arrived about 15 minutes early and the hostess offered to seat us but we chose to wait at the bar. Good choice. Enjoyed a great cocktail and beer while waiting. The service was great and the food wonderful. Delicious buttery scallops and one of the best steaks we've ever had. Others had steak salad, oysters, french dip and calamari--deliciousness all the way around. We'll be back.
I’m a vegetarian at a steak bar (insert joke here) and took three meat-eating friends. Two of the four of us had one beer each, the other two had water. Dinners were three burgers and, for me, a salad and fries. Our server might have been having a bad day, but she seemed indifferent and barely looked at us when she brought us our bills.
That said, the food was well prepared and the service was fairly timely.
Where to begin. The ambiance of this restaurant was lovely. However, the food and wine were pricey, in my opinion. I ordered a flat iron steak and it came with fries. I still assumed there would still be some sort of garnish but the $27 flat iron steak came on a blank white plate with one pat of butter on top and a side of fries. It did not feel like a steak restaurant level of presentation. Also, my companion and I ordered medium steaks. We both got well done steaks.
I have no experience with any of their food besides the steak and fries, but was not at all impressed with the food/presentation.
Great steaks! Best I’ve had
Always enjoy our dining experience at LoHi Steakbar! James our server was exceptional, and our meals were delicious!
LoH Steakbar is a neighborhood treasure!
We’re from out of town and wanted a nicer meal, it was nice that we came for happy hour it saved us a few bucks. Each of us got some sort of meat and they were all over cooked just a bit. One of us waited a little longer for a lemonade. Place was not busy at all. But overall good food. Maybe a little higher priced for the quality.
We arrived on time for our reservation and were told that they weren't sure if our table was ready as someone had called to say we were running late. (We didn't and we weren't.) Our table was in fact ready, but when they seated us they gave us 4 menus for a party of 8. We asked for 4 more and they brought 3. The whole vibe from the staff while we were there was just a bit weird -- unfriendly and like we were putting them out. (And our group was friendly and polite, so not sure where that was coming from.) Food was good, but not outstanding. I wouldn't rush back or recommend to a friend.
The steak I ordered was way too fatty for the cut of meat, as was my Mother’s. Also value isn’t great. I would recommend spending the extra $10 per steak and going somewhere like Morton’s or Chop House. This restaurant puts plastic ketchup bottles on the table for your fries which is really cheap looking. It’s not a diner so management should really “splurge” for some ramicans. The ketchup bottle we got was disgusting with dried ketchup in the lid and when we closed it the ketchup squirted all over my shirt. Overall this place wants to charge you like it’s super fancy but it’s really more on par with Outback Steakhouse. Our server forgot to bring my husbands beer for 20 minutes and didn’t offer to take it off the check or even discount it. Will definitely not be going back and will discourage others from going there as well!! This place sucks!
I will not return here. The service was perhaps the worst I have ever had anywhere. We ordered a bottle of wine, and that arrived promptly. Then our waitress disappeared for 20 minutes before taking our appetizer order. The appetizers did not arrive for 30 minutes after than. Again, the waitress disappeared before we could order entrees, and once we were able to order entrees, it was another 35 minute wait. The music was so loud I could hardly hear across the table. I am in my 20s, so it takes a lot for me to comment on music being too loud.
Nobody ever came to inquire as to how the food was, if we wanted to order more wine, etc. The food was good (the only redeeming quality), but the inexcusable service absolutely killed the experience. In the end, the dinner was over two hours long, and we didn’t even bother to order dessert because we didn’t want to wait another hour.
The meal was $160 before including any tip. I always tip 20% or more and have never in my life not left a tip somewhere, but this was a first.
For the high price of the food, you expect a good quality dining experience. This was not it.
My fiancé and I celebrated our engagement here on Wednesday. The service was amazing (as always). They even gave us complimentary champagne as a congrats! We had to truffle fries (must haves) and each had a steak. Both were delicious...and the price for such amazing food makes the place even better!!! We love steakbar and we’re so happy to celebrate our engagement there. We will definitely be back soon!
Our favorite place. We had family in town to celebrate a birthday. We came here and it wasn’t the best BUT we will always be back. Food wasn’t accurate, waitstaff was slow, seating was tight and awkward. Maybe next time gang!
