It took a bit before we were seated, and my seat was rather oddly placed right in a walkway for the wait staff.
Our waiter was great, but couldn't seem to tackle more than one thing at a time so it took a little bit before we were really able to order. Once we were, though, everything was fantastic. The food was amazing! We were all part of the Clean Plate Club. About the only thing I didn't eat was the chicken bone.
I highly recommend it - it was all very affordable, which totally made up for the slow start to the service.
The food was outstanding. We hadn't planned on the brunch but it was amazing and would do it again. The service was great and it was quiet enough to carry on a conversation.
We went to Sunday brunch. It was delicious! I really liked the mushroom barley minestra at the salad table. My husband and I ordered the the pasta trio, which was very good. I had a little of all of the desserts and enjoyed them all. Our waiter, Todd, was friendly and took good care of us. We will go back.
My waiter I think his name was Jason from California was amazing. He recommended an awesome sampling for my first time. Had a great time.
Lidia's has been a favorite for a long time. Unfortunately I do think the service and food have gone downhill in the last year or two. The pasta trio (an iconic favorite) has been the same exact thing every time we've been in. I feel like they've lost their creativity, just cranking out three dishes every night. In the past I'd describe Lidia's service as exceptional, now I'd consider it 'fine'. Still a beautiful space, just not the dining experience it used to be.
I have been to Lidia’s with friends for happy hour many times, but this was the first time I was able to be there for a full dinner. I am amazed at the food, quality, service, and wonderful atmosphere. At every turn, our night was exceptional. We had a nice glass of wine at the bar before being seated. When we were seated, we weren’t quite finished with our wine, and the host, in a very gracious way, carried our wine to the table. We felt pampered.
Then we had some wonderful hummus and bread to begin our dining adventure. Both the bread and the hummus were divine. Next, we had salad. How can salad be exciting? Well, this Caesar salad was! It was enormous but so delicious we were practically licking the plate when it disappeared. Then, it was on to our selected entrees.
Our waiter made my night fabulous; when I couldn’t decide on an entree, he offered to bring half of each! I was smitten. The raviolis melted in my mouth. I could barely come up for air. On the other hand, my Pollo Al Limone was a perfect balance of lemon and chicken. I ate every bite. My boyfriend got the gnocchi, and I barely got a taste because he loved it so much. After that we felt so full that we didn’t want to think about dessert, but we indulged anyway. I can’t even remember exactly what the dessert was due to being in such a blissful food coma, but I know we once again licked the plates clean.
I was impressed that you could select many price points in wine. None of the prices seemed extravagant, on food either. This was one of my very favorite dining experiences. This was my first time here, but I hope there will be a second time in the near future.
We went here on a Saturday for our Valentine's Day and although it was very busy we were seated in a quieter area as requested. The food was good and we enjoyed our experience here. It is a little overly priced, but it was still a nice place to go for our Valentine's Day dinner. :)
First time in. Food was great and the portions were large but fall in line with the price. A great experience and will return.
We've been to Lidia's many times and each is a treat. Great waitstaff, great food, and a warm atmosphere. It's one of our favorite restaurants.
What a staff, we were blown away with the excellent service. The service is always great but that night was special. Thanks to Peter, our waiter, who coaxed out of us it was a birthday dinner. Then a dessert with Happy Birthday written in chocolate, comes out. What a pleasant surprise! We felt special and spoiled!
It doesn't get any better than the Pasta Trio... it may be different every time we go, but it is always phenomenal. Go for the brunch on the weekends, you can't go wrong.
One of the best Cesear salads around. We enjoyed our meal, pasta trio, but desserts were a mixed review. We were seated in the glass room and sun was in our eyes for most of our dinner.
Came to Lidia’s for the first time for a late Valentine’s Day dinner. The experience was wonderful-excellent wine recommendations, good service. We both ordered the pasta trio because the daily pastas sounded wonderful. The fusilli and ravioli were divine, but unfortunately the fettuccine was very over cooked and had mushed together. Even though over cooked, the flavor was great. I will definitely come back.
Food was just ok, lukewarm. Service was slow, hence, probably why the food was lukewarm. Had wanted to try it for a really long time. Now it's crossed off the list.
I am sure Lidia’s is an exceptional restaurant, but we found the noise level very uncomfortable and the menu selections more limited than expected. Of course, we are from Saint Louis where fine Italian dining can be had on nearly every corner on The Hill, so it probably was unwise of us to select an Italian restaurant in Kansas City.
Your servers are excellent and your location is very nice.
We have eaten at Lidia's many times and are always completely satisfied. We love the pasta trio and the desserts. Lidia's is a great place for eating and meeting.
We had been reading about arancini in Sicily. If you go to Lidia's these are a must! Ravioli were light, full of flavor. I did not like the gnocchi (but I don't like it anywhere else either.
Excellent dining experience and we certainly will be back.
Everything was lovely from beginning to end. Expert service, pleasant ambiance, quiet, great wine list very reasonably priced. And the food is of course delicious: great ingredients, simple and elegant preparation. There was a lovely amuse-bouche (is there an Italian word for this?), we shared two beautiful salads for an appetizer, and the entrees did not disappoint. (I had the zuppe de pesce and it was wonderful). Our time was a bit tight, so we didn't get to try a dessert. Highly recommended. And who doesn't love Lidia? Her charming presence is everywhere.
Disappointing. I had chicken limone. The sauce was very salty, probably didn’t drain the capers. The chicken tasted boiled, no flavor. The sauce was watery like chicken broth. I expected a sauce with garlic, lemon, a little butter and white wine. Dessert was a tiny piece of tiramisu for $8.00. Service was very slow even though restaurant was not very busy. Will probably not return.
I wish the food was better. My husband’s eggplant parmesan was hard and cold. My Caesar salad was absolutely dripping with dressing. Appetizers were OK - fried calamari was interesting with vegetables and shrimp mixed in.
