We were thrilled to find that Lidia had a restaurant in KC for over 20 years. The carbonara has to be the best in the country with high quality guanciale made authentically, not the cream substitutes most restaurants use. We then had the boneless short ribs that just melted in your mouth with such perfect flavors. We were sad to hear that Felidia’s in NY closed due to the pandemic so we were grateful to have stopped here for a touch of a life we once new prepandemic.
Best restaurant in Kansas City. Food is always top notch, service is unmatched.
Great food. Decent price. Great overall experience!
Arrived at time of reservation (6:15 on a Wednesday) and still waited for 20 minutes to be seated. There was no crowd. Service was also slow for a place in this price range.
The Mother’s Day menu was excellent. A wonderful variety of salads and antipasto. And the entrees were delicious. Great venue for lunch, dinner or any special occasion.
We had a wonderful Mother's Day dinner at Lidia's. Our server was helpful and on point with tending to our needs. The food was nice. Ambiance would have been improved with some background music or even a live local band to compliment the italian home feel, for the holiday.
It was my birthday. I wish we could have had a choice on food options instead of a pre-selected menu.
The Mother’s Day prix fix meal was excellent! We all enjoyed it and thought it was better than ever! Thanks!
Didn’t realize it would be prix fixed menu, which if the food had been what Lidia’s has been in past, it would have been fine. Their entrees were so so, all of which were very rich and fatty (not great for someone trying to eat somewhat healthy). Only short rib was flavorful. Even pastas were bland and uninteresting!! Sad when pastas at an Italian restaurant aren’t great! Love the atmosphere, just wish food had been better! Our waitress was great tho!
Did the Sunday Mothers Day prix fixe brunch menu. It was positively awesome! Arrived a bit early but were immediately seated. The menu contained 5 appetizers, enough for each of us to enjoy. Particularly enjoyed the salmon preparation. 2 pasta dishes were served next to each of us. Divine! The spinach filled ravioli in a cream sauce, crispy cheese stuffed dish and the egg entrees were delectable and unusual. Been a long time since I've enjoyed such creativity throughout the entire menu. Dessert included chocolate chip cookies, almond biscotti and an exquisite raspberry whipped cream cake, enough for all of us. The waitstaff were very attentive and did not rush us to "turn over the table." We so enjoyed this perfectly prepared menu over the course of two hours. Hope they offer more prix fixe menus like this for repeat dining experiences. Thrilled that this KC icon is again open and back to normal. It's a true gem!
My husband and i Went for Mother’s Day brunch with tip our bill was $165.00! We had one drink each one bloody Mary and one mimosa . The food was just ok my entree consisted of potatoes eggs bacon and asparagus with a pile of melted cheese it was so overwhelmed with cheese could barely get to the rest of the food I had to dig away the greasy cheese which half was left on my plate it was so much of it . Definitely not what you expect paying $50 a plate
Lidia's is such a beautiful restaurant! We were really happy with the $35 wine bottle list, which is really reasonable for a nice restaurant. My sisters and I took my mom there for Mother's Day the night before. We were seated right on time for our reservation and our waitress was awesome. I'm a vegetarian, and they were able to make me a pasta tasting trio even though 2 of the 3 nightly choices contained meat. My whole party loved everything - ceasar salad, pasta tasting trios, and desserts. We will definitely return!
Everyone was outstanding, polite, this was my 4th time being there, treated myself and my kids to mother's day treat, thanks again wonderful job for everyone
Fantastic food and fantastic service. My partner and I were both fully vaccinated and so looking forward to celebrating my birthday at Lidia's. We had a lovely time and look forward to coming back again. Although, I think next time we will pick a weeknight in hopes for a more quiet dining experience. It was quite loud and made it difficult to converse.
We go to Lidia’s Kansas City for special celebrations. We often have the Pasta Trio, which turned out to be the usual high quality of pastas served in different forms. We plan to return for other celebrations.
Always a great experience. The gnocchi w/ duck ragu is outstanding. Great service.
I'm fond of Lidia's, however, thus evening I order the pasta trio and I didn't care for it. I'll order something different next time. The salad, bread, tapenade, and cannoli were delicious.
Delicious meal, great mixed drinks, wine by glass. Wonderful service. Will go again when we visit KC
We’ve been Lidia’s regulars since it opened 2 decades ago (we used to live in KC and always go when we are back in town).
Our server was distracted. She brought the wine (which needed to be decanted, but wasn’t), poured me an once for my probably and then just walked off without pouring either of us a glass. She messed up my wife’s martini order and when she asked about my margarita and I said it was “too weak,” she just walked away.
Food was just fine but it used to be fantastic. The absence of Lidia here self is noticeable. If she had the dinner that I was served under her name, she’d fire the whole kitchen staff.
The Pasta Trio is always spectacular as was everything else on the menu.
I was expecting more of an exeperience because that is what Lydia is. I was hoping for something that felt a little more warm and inviting, it seemed a little too extravagant. The food was good but got the Carbonara and it wasnt what I expected. The Gambori was delicious and definitely something I'd expect.
Lidia’s has always been a treat and this time is no different. Staff that give personal attention matched with food that is incredible.
Lidia’s is a go-to for us. The food is always good- and many times excellent. There is some variability on service. This last visit our waiter seemed too busy and wasn’t great. I would recommend trying this place if you like fresh pasta. The building is the draw- it’s really great.
Everyone in my party ordered the Pasta Trio! It had no flavor!! The wine, salad and dessert were excellent!! Our server Jake B was very attentive to our needs! He is an asset to the restaurant! I hope my input is helpful!
The food was not what I was expecting and overpriced
Excellent food; superior service!
Met Lidia herself and she was lovely! This is our go to Italian place in Kansas City we love it and we drive from St. Joseph just to come here for dinner worth the drive and the price amazing!
We had a very good birthday dinner, we will be returning.
Wonderful food and wine selection! I’m in love with this restaurant
Wonderful service and delicious food! We cannot wait to visit again!
Excellent atmosphere, excellent service, excellent food!
Lori Jo was absolutely amazing. She has been at Lydia’s over 21 years and is a real pro and delivers excellent customer service. Lydia’s meal for our seven guest was also outstanding and this is a tough group to impress.
Peter was great. Meal exceeded our expectations.
We always go to Lidia’s for wife’s bday and most wedding anniversaries it’s another couple who celebrates same week as us. I have to admit this was the worst visit in the last 18 years. The appetizers were good. That was pretty much it. Service was slow and scattered. Got apps and salads came out before we took a bit of apps. Entrees were meh at best. Just saying it’s not what it once was.
Food, service, and atmosphere were all great.
Absolutely fantastic experience. Food was excellent! Service outstanding - wait staff Matthew provided excellent table service, was friendly and professional.
Will definitely dine there again. Highly recommend this for any occassion.
Relatively expensive for basic pasta sauces: meat based, ravioli and just butter over it. (Chef’s trio) had an endless option if one or all were good but couldnt finish the original plate anyways. Noodles and dessert were great and cooked al dente. Frito Misto is presented as a calamari dish with vegetables however there were more veggie varieties than calamari. Would advise against ordering it if youre expecting a plate full of calamari.
5 of us out of town for work and no idea where to eat. This was one of the suggested restaurants near our hotel and one that everyone could agree on! Had no idea it was Lidia Bastianich's restaurant so I was very excited as I am a long time fan of hers. Everyone LOVED what they ordered and we all had something different. I had the gnocchi and didn't want the duck ragu they served with it so the kitchen just swapped in a meat ragu for no additional charge. Our waiter was very patient with us as we arrived at different times and had no issue with us sitting there after the bill was paid. I thought the price point was perfect ($19 - $37/entree) and the food was on point. We will definitely head back there when we return to Kansas City later this summer.
