Everyone here is great as always. They took the necessary precautions to make sure everyone has a say and enjoyable dinning experience. I’m very pleased you’re back and able to have us enjoy your atmosphere and food again!!
As always, great food and great service! I wish, in this time of higher risk, that we could reserve a patio table. Had we been unable to sit on the patio, we would have left in search of patio seating elsewhere. It seems the ability to reserve a patio table would be a great added feature.
Best authentic Italian food. Family travels just to eat here
Fabulous Food and Friendship in a Festive Atmosphere. What more could one want?
The food was wonderful. I was hoping to try a Bastianich wine but they were out of the one we wanted to try. Our server was very informative and explain the history of the building, which was beautiful. We were passing through Kansas City en route to Colorado. The hostess was very accommodating in seating us near a window so I could ensure and see my high end mountain bike was safely on the back of my car! I would love to have receipe for the olive and pesto spreads. The ravioli with corn and leeks was primo! The chicken with lemon and olives was delicious as well.
we had dinner for our 40th wedding anniversary. it was the best place we could have gone (especially since we had to cancel our next trip to Italy next year). THANK YOU
This restaurant never disappoints. Our meal was delicious. Italian wine is our favorite so the list is plentiful.
The food and service were exceptional. The only concern we had relates to cleanliness. Two different times, we saw the host seat people at a table and then a few minutes later those people were reseated at a different table. The vacated table was not cleaned after the people moved or before other people were then seated at the used table. We saw this happen at two different tables with four sets of people. It made us wonder about their commitment to reducing the risk of spreading illness.
Hi Kellie, Thanks for taking the time to give us some honest feedback. I'm trying to understand what you witnessed. It sounds like you saw the host seat guests at a table and they ended up moving because they didn't like the table and then we sat the table again without disinfecting it. To be clear those guests didn't eat at the table, they were sat at the table and then moved. I understand that we're in very sensitive environment and we're doing our best. All thoughts welcome.
Great food as usual. However, we sat outside and the bugs were a problem. Additionally, you may want to consider placing fans outside to cool and maybe help with bugs.
The wait person was perfect. Attentive without being overbearing or rushing us. He grasped that we wanted to slow the pace down and have an unrushed dinner. The food...a total disappointment. The chicken livers and polenta were dry and tasteless. The Caesar salad was drenched in an overpowering dressing. The manicotti was also tasteless and slightly over cooked. Dinner was a treat for my birthday do we simply enjoyed a nice Trebbiano and didn’t make a scene about the food. With so few customers during the pandemic how could they screw up each course. Tells me that their quality control and attention to detail is severely lacking.
So, so disappointing. I know COVID has made restaurant management a challenge - but Lidia’s will be sorry down the line for seating more tables than they can staff appropriately. The bad news regarding atrocious service received will travel fast, and this place will suffer for it. There is no excuse for how poor our experience was. I was in the restaurant/service for decades, and our dinner experience was equal to Shoneys. A real disgrace. I won’t be back - ever. Too bad, because the food was good. Even that didn’t make up for the totally bad experience.
Food was lacking flavor and a very limited menu. Paid a lot of money and left feeling i had been ripped off. The server was excellent.... nothing she could do about it... we were celebrating a graduation and no mention of it - even put it in the Opentable comments. I have never been before and it's going to be a long time before I ever go back.... really, really disappointed. Should have went to Cascone's ....
Very good food. We had the duck breast and short ribs
Wonderful food and excellent ambiance! Our waitress was so helpful and fun! Overall great experience!!
I’ve never had anything but an amazing time at Lidia’s. This was no different. And I appreciate their dedication to safety. Socially distant dining, waiters wore masks, incredibly clean. I felt very comfortable and safe
We always enjoy dining at Lidia's. They did a great job helping diners social distance while still having a great experience. Service was gracious, welcoming and warm. My salmon was cooked perfectly and my husband's short ribs were terrific. We'll be back!
Celebrating my husband’s birthday. Food was wonderful as was the service. There was a wedding reception going on nearby that made the noise level high, but we didn’t mind.
Jeanette is the best. We look forward to Peter returning!!
The food was outstanding as usual and the service was first class without being intrusive.
Love Lidia's and we only go out to eat sporadically these days. I am 70. During most of the experience the server was very attentive and thoughtful about the covid issues. There were only about 3 tables occupied in the place as we came very early intending to avoid crowds. Toward the end of our dinner, in a virtually empty dining room, a couple not wearing masks was seated right behind us. About 4-5 feet away. This changed the nature of the dining experience for us. Staff, please spread people out.... This seating choice was unnecessary and dangerous. Food was great as always.... (put the Manocotti back in a white sauce.)
Great as always!
Awful experience. Servers were rude and inattentive. Food was not even good for the ridiculous high prices. Horrible food, horrible service. We’re never coming back to this place, and will warn our friends and family.
Service and food are superb. Menu had something for everyone in our group.
Amazing food and service as always! Lidia's is a go to anytime I want some amazing food in KC
The pasta trio is phenomenal. We love how it changes and there is always something new. This is our favorite date night treat!
I was taking a friend out for his birthday and Jeremy Lamb, the manager, ended up waiting on us and making the experience extra-special. He picked out our excellent wine and was so friendly and nice.
Great Italian food. Service was exceptional and we got right in with our Open Table reservation. We had appetizers, Caesar salad and a beef menu item and was just the right amount. Even saved room for a dessert. Would recommend and will eat again when in KC.
Best Italian I have ever had. The pasta's were all incredible. The short ribs were OUTSTANDING!!! Great experience overall. Will make it a tradition on our trips to KC from now on.
Our waitress was great and it was an awesome choice for our mother / son date!
The pasta trio was the best selection in some time. I really enjoyed it!
My Tom Collins drink wasn't really a collins. I drank it, but back to mixing school for the people in the bar. I'll stick to something much easier for future visits.
No free dessert for my wife'e birthday------------maybe you never did that.
Hi Howard, Sorry about the dessert but through the Covid crisis we've had to put a hold on all free promotions. I'm glad you enjoyed everything else and we hope to see you again sometime.
Food was amazing, loved the atmosphere. The only complaint o have is that the service was somewhat slow. I think the servers had more tables and kept them running around to give slower service.
I went to Lidia's as a date night, we made reservations in advance so we had no trouble being seated. We both wanted the pasta trio, which includes an unlimited amount of 3 pastas. There was a ravioli, spaghetti and a 3rd option in a meat and red sauce. The 3rd pasta tasted like it can from a can and the other two were good, but not great. Overall the value is good if you're looking for a lot of food.
As usual the service and food were well worth the visit. Maybe one day we will be there when Lidia shows up and I can tell her personally what great place it is. I would and have recommended it to family and friends.
I really love this place! I have never had a bad meal the waiters are professional and you feel they appreciate your business!
This is our second time to visit Lidia's one of the first restaurants we have visited during the pandemic. We never once felt unsafe as far as social distancing. The staff all wore face masks and treated us like we mattered. The food was terrific even the little kids in our group were happy. We are new the the KC area and Lidia's is one of our new go to place.
Although due to the virus, we were concerned about dining, out our fears were put to rest. The staff at Lidia’s all wore masks and they were practicing social distancing. We had a wonderful meal and the evening was memorable.
My girlfriend and I went to Lidia’s to make up for our cancelled prom, and it was the perfect way to make up for the special night! I would 10/10 recommend Lidia’s as a date night venue or really any type of fine dining. Food was excellent, service was excellent, and the whole restaurant itself was great. Thank you Lidia’s for a great night!
Terrible experience. The restaurant did not have air conditioning and failed to notify anyone with reservations, nor acknowledged it upon check in. The manager was disappointed in us for leaving after spending 10 minutes in the heat, and he made that very apparent. This lack of professional was unacceptable at such a nice restaurant. Will not visit again. Could have handled their HVAC issues with much more class.
The food was excellent. Air conditioning not working. Waitress confirmed it. Hostess denied it and said it was working just fine. Our table switched to a large unoccupied room with unset tables. Four of us at a table for six. No silverware. Had to ask - twice. This restaurant should not have been open that evening. Or guests should have been forewarned. Times are tough - but misleading and dumping on guests is not the proper response. The one thing that was not overlooked was a large bill.
No bread served with salad. Service was slow. Food was mediocre. Ravioli was way undercooked. Not al-dente, just not cooked. We were there for a birthday which I had told them about and no mention was ever made of the occasion. Overall dining experience was completely disappointing at a time when you would think restaurants would be trying to put a good foot forward to get business coming back.
