Long time Lennie’s fan, first time in their new downtown location. Food was ok. Ambiance was ok. Service was ok. So actually, this is a step down from the old Lennie’s. Will try again soon and hope for a return to better!
First time here. The wings were awesome and so was my salad. Pass on the focaccia bread. Most importantly our service was beyond excellent. So friendly and efficient.
New name? Old and dated decor. Bloomington Beer Co should get away fast! Food way overpriced for what felt like a senior citizen diner except for the pizzas. Our pizzas were decent but again wat overpriced for value. Will never return nor will my college age daughters and friends.
It was decent. First ordered a Prosecco which was actually a Brut. Spinach artichoke torte was good but served cold which we didn’t expect. I ordered Salmon which was decent. Friend ordered Tilapia and other ordered a pasta special. All were fine but not a lot of flavor. Steamed vegetables were very bland. Cheesecake was good for desert. Brownie cherry cordial ice cream special was good but would have been soooo much better if brownie had been served warm. Ambiance was great. Server not very attentive but pleasant.
We have been fans of Lennie's for many years. This was our first visit to the new location and it didn't disappointment. Loved the new space and food was as good as ever.
Brunch on Sunday. Large group. Love this place!!! Finally a restaurant that doesn’t shoehorn you into a table!!! Quiet, relaxing meal. Lots of families there. Will definitely go here again!!!!!food was fantastic.
Have always loved Lennies. They need to spruce up the new location's decor. its very dry, mundane. Need to decorate maybe with some memorabilia. Something... it looks like an old lady decorated it.
Have been to Lennie’s several times now and every visit was great. Food always comes out hot, fresh and very good! Servers are always polite and attentive. Definitely is becoming a favorite spot when we visit Bloomington.
We went to Lennie’s for my daughter’s birthday. The food and staff were great, but I have a hearing impairment and the noise level made it very difficult to hear any conversation at my table.
I have always enjoyed the food and beer at Lennie's and the new location is perfect!
I love the new location and expanded menu.
The new location is great. We arrived after an IUMBB game so it was 3:30 but they had a good crowd.
The food and service was outstanding. Congratulations Lennie's, we will be back.
When I made a reservation using OpenTable, I requested a quieter table but we were put upstair right next to a huge party of folks. They had every right to be chatty because it was clear it was an important event but for our engagement anniversary we'd hope to be able to talk more freely without needing to raise our voices so much.
Since the move closer to downtown the menu has changed and the options are truncated; we can't find as much variety and items that we like. Building your own pizza is crazy expensive though very tasty. Just know before you go that it will be $50 for a couple to go.
Everything tasted great. Loved the new vegan options, but there could be a couple more. Pizzas are a bit overpriced for what it is. Service was great and the new space is very nice
I had the pesto garlic penne which was quite rich and flavorful as you would expect. Surprised it was not finished off in the wood fire oven as online pictures show. My wife had a build your own pizza which was average with unremarkable red sauce and whole-wheat crust. Overall food was average. The overall dinner and service was average. First they tried to deliver a totally different pizza for my wife. Then they delivered a pizza with a topping, cheese, she did not order and when she had specifically said she had a dairy allergy. The server had recorded that but the kitchen staff clearly missed it and the server did not notice it when she brought the pizza. They did quickly replace and finally get the correct pizza after 3 attempts. Lastly the check was incorrect with a duplication on the pizza charge which I asked to be corrected and they did. We had not been to Lennies in a while and since they moved and wanted to try again during a less busy time. It was ok, but not sure we will go back for the level of food and service is easily exceeded at other comparable places.
My husband and I wanted to have an early dinner before the basketball game, so I made a reservation for 4:15. When we arrived, the hostess apologized and said there weren't any tables that were ready, but that she would let us know as soon as we could be seated. This alone was frustrating. What's the point of taking reservations if you can't honor them? Also, we had a timeline that we needed to follow. To make matters worse, 5 minutes later, a couple without reservations walked in and asked for a table for two. The hostess and another employee were standing at the front desk, and the other employee said, "right this way" and sat them. I asked the hostess why we were told to wait when we had a reservation, and she replied, "I'm sorry, what's your name again?". She had forgotten we were waiting, and the other employee gave our table to someone without reservations.
We love Lenny’s new location. The food continues to be excellent.
Lennies was great. My husband and I are vegetarian and were able to find a lot of items we could enjoy. My wine was lovely and sitting upstairs was really peaceful and we had a great view by the window.
We had a group of eight and everyone enjoyed their meal! Our server Mimi was so attentive!! She was excellent!!!
I am still looking for a quieter place to dine and visit with friends. Downstairs at Lenny's is very noisy. Upstairs is much better, but...First time we, table of 4, tried brunch, and it was great until staff moved a few tables together, next to us, to accommodate a couple of families with young, noisy children. It brought a quick end to any thoughts of lingering. Second time upstairs, for a weekday dinner for 2, again started fine. But, once again, tables were pushed together, this time to accommodate some religious group of adults (a Christian Bible study?). They were not loud as the little kids, but there was no way NOT to listen to all the Jesus talk. Of course, this is not an unusual restaurant experience, I just wish a nice place like Lenny's had some more private areas, alcoves or something to help us converse quietly.
Our family dinner in Bloomington didn’t disappoint!
Overall a pretty good place. However, service was terrible.
A Bloomington staple for many years. Good food and drink.
They were out of the wine we wanted. They had no French Fries and blamed it on the fact that it was a game day! It was 6:15 pm. Poor service. Didn’t clear plates or refill our water. The decor is terrible. It felt like a fast food sandwich shop. Better at their old location.
It's usually a great place but that night the food was not up to par and the service was very slow.
Great service and food and drink I really liked the ambience of the upstairs it was much quieter and liked looking over Kirkwood
Good food consistent great service always a good go to
Great place for lunch and dinner in a great new location on Kirkwood. Good menu variety, but wine list could use an upgrade. Fun spot before and/or after IU games.
Lennie's moved from their long-time location of East 10th St to downtown on Kirkwood Ave. Parking is harder to find and the noise level of the restaurant has increased dramatically. Sunday night's meal was OK, that is, nothing was wrong. I ordered a cup of soup (today's special - Red Lentil) and a house salad. I have visited two previous times since the move and have been disappointed, the last time, a week ago, especially. I ordered the salmon dinner and it was not even close to in the past but even so, it was not prepared and/or presented as described on the menu. The salmon was not grilled and was a thin tail end piece. It was dried out as if it had been microwaved with a few dried spices on top. There was no mango salsa or tiny fried onions on top. The sweet potato fries were excellent. The grilled vegetables were not cooked at all - if they were blanched, steamed, or microwaved, they were still raw. I asked for oil and vinegar to pour over them. The only reason I would still recommend Lennie's is if you order pizza, an uncomplicated sandwich, or soup and salad. I hope these snafus are just moving bugs but it has been 4 months now.
This was our first time eating at Lennie's since they moved, and they didn't disappoint. Always try to go when in Bloomington, but sometimes had trouble getting in because of limited seating. The new location took care of that problem.
Very busy due to football game, so understand noise, slower service and a were a bit backed up. But pizza was undercooked, and other meals in party was not up to par. My wife and I love Lennies and don’t typically have this experience, but was difficult to help our friends who had their first visit that it was usually much better quality.
As always -- food was excellent. The waffles with the chicken and waffles were cold for some reason. The waitress immediately got them warmed up and then they were perfection!
It was late, we were hungry, not many options in Bloomington even after 9:00 pm. Food was good... Not sure it would be our first choice, but happy we could get in on a football weekend Friday evening
Used to love the food, but on our visit the food took a long time to come, was flavorless; roasted veggies (a whole onion seems silly) and salmon was not flavorful and veggies on both plates were under cooked. Best part was our waitress and the hostess and the beer. The noise in there was deafening, to the point of being painful and we were unable to hear ourselves speak.
Really nice college bar/restaurant. We enjoyed some classics: French onion soup, Caesar salad with gorgonzola, and California pizza (spinach, pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, mozzarella, feta, topped with avocado slices.
As always Lennie’s is great. We have been going to Lennies for over 25 years(since our daughter was a freshman at IU. We miss the handpulled and nitro beer from the old Lennies. Hope you soon add to your beer menu on Kirkwood. Nothing tops Java Porter nitro!
My crab cakes were so dry because they were almost burned on the bottom. As I thought about it later, the meat I ordered was cooked to within an inch of its life. Unfortunately, I can't remember what the meat was called. The dish was on the Oktoberfest menu, a cut of breaded pork fried within an inch of its life and served on a bed of dry, crunchy noodles. The name of the dish started with "J."
I love your new place. The service both of my visits was superb. Lennie's has always been a favorite of mine. I was with wonderful company both times. I hope the kitchen pays closer attention as my food is cooking the next time I am there. Thankfully the chocolate mousse is still to die for!!
We enjoyed the pasta dishes and portobello sandwich. Nice beer selection and the focaccia with roasted garlic was delicious!
Not as good since you moved. On Saturday they didn’t have fries ran out the day before. Beer was very warm went we got it. Like I said not as good since the move. We have been there several times.
Very glad that Lennie's moved from 10th St to Kirkwood. Excellent location now and love the patio. I have lunched three times already since they moved and recommend it highly. Also happy that they have subscribed to Open Table: a real service to be able to make online reservations.
