The restaurant is undergoing a menu change, so they had limited options. Our waiter Rick was excellent, explained the menu and was very efficient.
I wasn't in love with the food though. I ordered the brick chicken and it was VERY salty - I even had my son taste it and he agreed. I think it had been brined because it was very moist but oozed saltiness. The sides were bland - asparagus and mashed potatoes. The Caesar salad was tasty but served in an awkwardly small, high rimmed bowl. Since the leaves were uncut - it was really hard to cut them in the little bowl. The popover rolls were awesome though - loved them.

Leatherby's was very disappointing. The waiter was the best thing but he could not make up for the slow food service (ask 3 times for their popovers) and ok food. My husband ordered a martini but there were out of dry vermouth and had to use sweet. Not the same! Very pricey.

Overall, the experience was very good. I, however, felt like it took them too long to take the order and then to serve our dishes

Food took awhile and they were out of a main dish but they did their best to make up for it. Worth the wait. Food was delicious and great presentation of plates both dishes and dessert.

Leatherby's is next to the theater and gets seatings with the expectation that diners will be served on time to make the performance.
Our waiter knew we were going to the theater. He forgot our drinks (on the house once we asked again), we had to ask about bread service ($5), and our entree was brought to the table less than 15 minutes before curtain time. Needless to say we gulped down our meal. The food was very good though.
My prior experience was not that at all, so I will give the restaurant another chance.

We had a delightful pre-theatre dinner. I had the prix-fixe menu related to the show. The portions were well sized and it was delicious. The bartender made me a customized blood orange martini which was outstanding. I have been to brunch here in the past and that was great also. Service is impeccable.

We had a delecious pre theater dinner. Potato leek soup was rich and creamy. The beef stroganoff was excellent, made with tenderloin. The highlight was buche de Noel modernized by the pastry chef. It was a chocoholic’s delight.
Nice soft music and good service.

This restaurant has gone down hill since my family last visited. Our waiter, Jonathan, although attempting to make the best of the situation was doing everything except cook as they were understaffed that evening. The wines listed on the wine menu were not in stock. The Brussel sprout appetizer had 5 Brussel sprouts (yes, I counted them). Two in our party ordered steak - they were brought duck and pot roast as the steaks were not getting cooked in the kitchen. I ordered the striped bass, however it was not edible. After pulling back the flesh, the meat of the fish was a dark gray color and had an earthy smell. A bite told me it was well past its prime. Our reservation was for 4:00 and we were almost late to our 5:30 show which was in the same building.
How sad that such an elegant venue has turned so sour!

The food was very good but the kitchen is very poorly managed. Even though I reminded our waiter that we had a show to get to, we had to wait 25 minutes between the soup and salad to get our entrees. By that time, we only had time to eat half our dinners and we had to leave so we couldn’t have the desserts, even though they were included. We felt very rushed and we were very disappointed. The waiter didn’t offer any type of compensation. We will not be back. They are certainly aware that people come because of the proximity to the performing arts center, but apparently they don’t care about getting the food out of the kitchen in a timely manner.

My girlfriend and I dined here prior to a jazz concert at the Segerstrom Concert Hall next door. We both ordered from the theatre menu which included a starter, entree and dessert. She had the fish starter, Filet Mignon, and chocolate mousse. I had the beet salad, Beef Stroganoff, and gingerbread cake. We both enjoyed our meals and we each had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. Parking was plentiful in the nearby garages, and was free for us as we parked just around 5 pm on a Saturday evening. I believe they charge $10 sometime shortly after (as I did see a sign!) . By the way, the dinner was the highlight of our evening, not the jazz concert!

Perfect spot for pre-theater dinner since it is a stone’s throw from Segerstrom Center BUT the service is lax and VERY slow. We arrived at 5:30 and were seated and greeted immediately. We ordered promptly and then waited and waited. Since we were going to a show that started at 7, I informed our waiter that we would need to be out the door by 6:30. We only ordered one course...steak medium rare... it was 6:20 when our food arrived without any explanation as to why it took so long. Our waiter was MIA during our long wait. The steak was good however.

We enjoy this restaurant before the theatre but wish they would make the space warmer and MUCH MORE inviting. It feels cold and sterile.
The food is good and it’s very convenient for theatre goers but we would make the effort to frequent it if it were different!!

Promptly seated at 5PM for a 5PM reservation. Sat for 15 minutes with no service while multiple other tables were seated and served. Called front desk and asked what was needed to get served. Immediately, receptionist and waiter showed up and apologized and offered glass of wine for the delay. Food was excellent, waiter courteous but service was inconsistent.

Our waiter, Rick, was most friendly and efficient. We shared an endive salad and each had monk fish. Both were delicious. We were very impressed that when our fish was served that it was hot! What a delight. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Leatherby's.

I have been coming here for years before the theatre. I don’t know what happened...new owner or new chef? It was horrible. Our food took forever and when it arrived, it was so dried up it looked fake! Tasted like plastic too. I’m so disappointed because this was my go to place before the show but I won’t be back!,

Our steaks, soup, lettuce wedge, beet salad, and two desserts were delicious. However, there is no reason to charge $5 for two rolls and a breadstick! We ordered two bread orders and felt foolish to do so. I can’t think of many wonderful restaurants that don’t serve a delicious bread basket. What poor public relations!

Leatherby's was once again a great food experience. Now that the new Argyros Plaza has opened, the glass walls of the place look out over a thriving and cosmopolitan scene. But as always, the food is the focus of the attention, and well-deserved.

I always consider V's Café rouge a place to celebrate anything special, even an every day event. Their staff and management is impeccable and I look forward to the changes that are on the horizon for this beautiful venue. I will continue to be a loyal patron and enjoy whatever direction they decide to go with the patina group. Thank you, Lin and staff, for making my night so special

We eat here often before a performance. Menu offerings and service keeps declining. Last night particularly bad. Server seemed stretched too thin but when we commented said we just had to wait our turn. It took over 20 minutes to order a glass of wine. Then we're told may be out of fois gras maybe one left so we need to get order in quick. After dinner told the new cappuccino machine broken then we're told it's working. Husband orders regular coffee. Served in teeny cup so asks for refill. Had to ask four times and then he brings a pot and says the coffee machine small so takes a long time. This restaurant way over priced to be this bad. Unfortunately not many better alternatives convenient to Segerstrom so they don't need to care.

Eating here for many years. Always enjoyable. Interesting food pairings usually with something as an extra surprise - maybe an unusual herb leaf. Soups have been phenomenal. Fish and seafood really good. Also some things like duck. Menu changes from time to time and keeps things interesting.

When I walked in, I was told they are fully booked and with absolutely no availability for that night. I walked out, got on open table right away and in less than couple of minutes I booked a table for the exact same time!!! I shared this with the same waiter who told me they are booked and all I got was a very rude response. Overall, service at this place is extremely slow and way below average with a food that is not special in any way. Not a place that I recommend to anyone.

understaffed - main interest is getting people out the door asap - waiter seemed more concerned about our theater time then we were - presenting out check in the middle of dinner - he didnt know we were in the middle of dinner because he didnt ask - poor seating choices even though we made reservations and arrived on time - because we asked other diners it was apparent that walk-ins were given tables that should have been held for those with reservations - this restaurant used to be very very good - open during intermission and for after theater dining - but it has been sliding for some time - last seating at 7:30 p.m. (!) and closed by 8:30 p.m. - with so many other options in walking distance of the performing arts center (water grill, vaca, pizzeria ortica) i would not return - would love to hear that some other restaurant was going to return the space to the special cutting edge room it one was !!! i know why i was able to get a table at the last minute - all the other options were booked out - the word is out on this sad operation i guess

Pre-show fine dining. Only one waiter for the entire restaurant. Drink orders were wrong. Service incredibly slow, especially for folks who had to get to the show on time. Food was especially disappointing, no flavor, poor consistency. Ordered dessert which we didn't get to eat since by the time it arrived we were already late for the show. This was a special occasion for my wife's birthday and it was a terrible experience. Will not go back.

Pricey but excellent food and incredibly convenient for pre- or post-Segerstrom concert/theatre events. $10 valet parking for the restaurant includes the Segerstrom event with validation. The food was wonderful. I have never seen halibut so brilliantly white before. The filet mignon was incredibly tender. Rick, our waiter, was most attentive, and his recommendations were all spot on. The 5pm opening time shown on the website is misleading -- the restaurant opens two hours prior to the earliest evening event starting time, so in our case, with a 6pm curtain, the restaurant opened at 4pm.

Leatherby's is always outstanding in every way. Service, food, ambiance are all of the highest quality. I eat at Leatherby's every time I go to the ballet at the Segerstrom Center. Leatherby's has one seating per evening, and makes it possible for everyone to get to the show in plenty of time.

After seeing a show at Segerstrom, we had dinner at this restaurant. There were 2 Prixe-Fix options including wine pairings if desired. I had the Halibut that had a beautiful presentation and was well-cooked but was very bland. My wife's steak with shoestring fries was very good. This is very upscale fine dining with wonderful floor to ceiling windows. I'm sure when the construction is completed outside the view will be very nice. The service and food were pleasant, but not at all memorable or particularly outstanding.

Leatherby's was a huge disappointment, and an expensive one at that. I had the halibut and, when I was asked if "medium" was how I wanted it cooked I was hopeful. I said yes, but it was way over-cooked. So if you get it by all means say "rare," then you can always have it cooked more. I have a real issue with a place that charges nearly $40 for a piece of fish and then doesn't cook it properly. But don't think you'll be safe ordering the lamb. Our friends did and it was 75% fat! Again, if it's going to be 75% fat don't charge $35! Charge $10! Oh, and the crab salad is a ripoff. Other than that, it is very convenient to the theater.

We had a $30 off Patina coupon for my birthday and were attending the ballet at the theater next door. I called and left a message letting the restaurant know we were stuck in Friday night traffic on the freeway and would be 20 min late for our 6pm reservation. They held our reservation and with the 3 course prixe fixe menu managed to get us in and out in an hour in time for the 7:30 ballet next door. The food - best corn soup we have ever had, salmon and chocolate mousse with mango sorbet was excellent.
