   Special food, but "over-service" became annoying. Lost count of the number of bodies interrupting our conversation to ask if they could take an order, take away plates that weren't yet empty. When the restaurant is only half full, there's a weird feeling of being rushed needlessly when servers are swarming the table. Needs better balance, but the look and vibe are a fun reboot from Herringbone.

   This was one of the best dinners we’ve had in a while. Our fav was the mussels appetizer. Excellent. Ambience is great and service was excellent. Would definitely go back again when in the area.

   Service,food, ambiance all upper class! Not cheap, but if it’s cheap it ain’t good. And if it’s good it ain’t cheap. All was good! If you appreciate gourmet cooking you will find this restaurant a perfect fit on your San Diego/ LaJolla list of top 10!

   The food at Le Coq was absolutely outstanding—easily 5-star quality. The beef tartare, onion tart, and rack of lamb were all perfectly executed and full of flavor. Truly unforgettable dishes. Unfortunately, the service didn’t match the caliber of the food. Our server seemed distracted and disengaged, with no attention to pacing the meal. We would have gladly ordered more drinks, but the opportunity never came—our server was rarely around. We’ll be back for the food, but hoping for a more attentive experience next time.

    Amazing experience with the flambé 3 course special. The martini is easily in the top 1% of all martinis in San Diego. Tuna tartare was also incredible. Our server was amazing. We were a little annoyed it took a while to greet and get our drink order since we were starving! Otherwise, don’t believe the bad reviews you see. This place goes HARD.
