Le Colonial - Houston
A lavish downstairs dining room is adorned with period photography, overhead fans and leather banquettes, and flanked by a Parisian-Style sidewalk café. A dramatic staircase leads to a second level lounge, where a large bar, mahogany millwork and plush seating create the perfect atmosphere for cocktails and light fare. Custom louvered shutters surround the west veranda, while an additional terrace on the north side is fully enclosed and features additional dining tables. The Lotus Room, anchored by a mural created by Swedish muralist Jonas Wickman rendered in gentle tropical tones, seats up to 14 for private dinners and wine tastings.

I have dietary restrictions and the Chef prepared a great meal for me within my restrictions. The food was Awesome.
I specified in my reservation that is was for an Anniversary. I wish we were put in a more quieter area for a romantic dinner maybe the second floor would have been a better area. But instead we were seated in the middle and kind a loud. Food was great! And service was good too!
Very enjoyable brunch and excellent menu.
It’s always a great experience
Our table was right next to the server computer. So it felt like there was always someone constantly hovering over our table and I definitely got bumped into by the servers multiple times. Not a big fan of the upstairs patio tables
Great place, great food, great service. Just so dark that you need your phone to read the menu. I get that you want to keep it cozy, but a little extra light wouldn’t hurt.
As always the food was amazing. That said, the service was slow and it was unclear who our waiter was. After sitting at our table for 20 minutes, I actually had to stand up and find a waiter to help us order drinks and appetizers.
Love this restaurant and has been a favorite since it opened. However, last nights service was not it’s best. Food was great but service was slow and inconsistent. This was the first time I have experienced this during my many dining experiences here.
Food was delicious. Wine list was good. Ambiance was nice. Our server seemed a little hurried and not so inclined to explain the different selections- which is rather important with a cuisine that might not be familiar to all diners.
Eugen our waiter was the best!!! Food and ambience was 💯
Delicious food and great service
Food was great. Waitress yelled at us when we tried to place our order - it was very odd and not at all like the normal Le Colonial experience. She also told us they couldn’t make a very common drink. The manager clarified and comped the drinks.
Le Colonial is one of the most beautiful restaurants in Houston. The food is superb with artistic presentation. Delicious no matter what you choose in small or large plates. Wonderful.
Worst service in Houston in years. Hostess and manager had no interest in how slow service was. We left and went to MAD.
Excellent food and service! A consistent favorite of ours.
Everything at this restaurant is great. It has become a go-to for our family. Very friendly staff and perfect portions. This place has never let us down.
I previously had a nice experience. This time they did not have the bun thit nuong that was the primary reason to go there. The waiter suggested the ribs. The ribs were so hot I could not finish the second of four ribs. I was severely disappointed.
Food was delicious! Nice atmosphere. Slow on drink refills.
The food and service was exceptional. Eugene was our waiter and he did an excellent job . The ambiance and decor is inviting.
Absolutely fantastic! The food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect.
Easily one of the best restaurants in Houston
Food was amazing! Thought the coconut curry was the best. Their chocolate cake was perfect and highly recommend the spicy margarita.
We celebrated 2019 New Years Eve at La Colonial. We had 2 cocktails (Gin Negroni’s), 2 starters (Goi Du Du and ChanGio), 2 entrees (Ga Xao Xa and the new years eve Seabass) and finished with 2 deserts. The starters we absolutely delicious, the main course sea bass was first class and delicious. The deserts were nice, the mango tart was the winner over the chocolate mouse desert.
Authentic as it comes, flavors and textures that are indeed traditional and well executed
Extremely professional service, great food.
Amazing! Exquisite flavors, perfect cooked and beautifully presented.
I wasn’t sure what to expect since the last time I had dinner hwre was years ago. The food was very good and came out quickly! We got shaking beef, shrimp stir fry, and fried rice + cocktails and the veggie dumplings to start. Service was pretty bad. Our waiter had an attitude the moment we sat down and just seemed to not really want to come over to our table for some odd reason. He was tending to the table of 5 next to us and seemed to not want to be bothered. Table next to us was so loud I couldn’t even hear myself talk which was pretty annoying. Recommend the food and trying them out! I do think the staff seems a little stuffy and rude.
I appreciate the vegan options and the cocktails as well as the atmosphere!
I booked a reservation for a holiday party of 6 several weeks in advance. Overall, our experience was good - the food was excellent, and we enjoyed the festive atmosphere at the bar before we sat down for dinner. However, the location of our table and our service were disappointing. For dinner, we were sat at a table upstairs in the rather isolated balcony area by ourselves. In addition, our server was not a regular server; she was a cocktail server who was working in the adjacent lounge area. Although she was friendly and mostly attentive, she did not display the level of service and knowledge I would expect for a restaurant of this caliber - white tablecloth, elevated cuisine, and prices to match. We all really enjoyed the selection of small plates, entrees, and desserts that we shared - delicious and interesting flavor pairings. If we had been seated in the main dining area with a proper server, the evening would have been outstanding.
Food was amazing, service was good. It was pretty cold outside, and despite having a reservation to celebrate my birthday, we were sat right next to the door to the patio. Unfortunately, there were people that sat out there- 2 tables- I had to wear my jacket all through dinner and freeze. It opened and closed at least 30 times. Disappointed. (I am a cold weather wimp- we do live in Houston)
Very good restaurante. We had the whole red snapper and it was delicious. Also, the spring rolls were the best we had since we visited Vietnam a few years ago. We definitely want to go back and try other options from their menu.
The food was good as was the service. However, the main dining area downstairs was very noisy and the tables were too close together. I felt every move by the person at the table behind me, and I could barely hear my guest sitting next to me.
Amazing drinks and food. After we finished eating we went upstairs and music was great too.
Le Colonial is my favorite restaurant in Houston. The decor is gorgeous. The ambiance is festive and elegant. The food is heavenly. The service is top notch. I go about 3 times a month.
We enjoyed every moment of our evening in your beautiful restaurant!! From the moment we walked in, got seated and was served. The food was outstanding!!
Great food, great cocktails, and service was top notch.
Wonderful food, service, ambiance!!!
Food was great! Ambiance was good! Service... very slow. Had to ask for our waiter to order drinks, then took forever to come back to take our order. Weekday, lunchtime when everyone needs to get back to work, not exactly a time you want service to be slow.
It was the first time in the restaurant for dinner. For a Monday night, albeit ten days before Christmas, it was very busy. The atmosphere was great and the noise level not bad at all. A great evening. Thank you
