A lavish downstairs dining room is adorned with period photography, overhead fans and leather banquettes, and flanked by a Parisian-Style sidewalk café. A dramatic staircase leads to a second level lounge, where a large bar, mahogany millwork and plush seating create the perfect atmosphere for cocktails and light fare. Custom louvered shutters surround the west veranda, while an additional terrace on the north side is fully enclosed and features additional dining tables.

Great atmosphere, great service, great food!
Came here for my birthday with a party of 10 and had the worst service in a while. Made my reservation a month in advance, we arrive and they tell us our table will be ready an hour and a half later. Management attempts to salvage the reservation by taking me to their “private lounge area” for complimentary champagne, but this room is really just a table on the second floor that can hold 10 people (not sure why on earth we couldn’t just eat there, instead of wait almost 2 hours). Finally get to our table and they forgot one of my guests dishes and one of my sides that never arrived came out when they were servings us desert.... to top it off, payment was an absolute mess that took almost an hour to do because they told us at the very end, they can’t split the check by couples, only 4 ways. This gets very confusing when one guest only orders a salad. Frustrating how this place never has a party of 10 that doesn’t order the same thing I guess.... oddly enough to celebrate my birthday they bring out the surprise desert and sparklers while I’m in the bathroom...never took a chance to see if I was even at my chair. I’m never coming here for a celebration again
Fabulous Food and Fantastic Service,Highly Recommended.
I love LeColonial! We made reservations for a friends lunch and although we had to wait a little bit because we did not love our first table. We were place at a table on the patio that was right in view of the valet so all the cars stopped right in front of our table. Because we had reservations for this special lunch we asked for a different outdoor table and the manager was so kind to accommodate us. Lunch was fantastic as usual. Thanks to the manager, we were so happy!
Unique food. Good cocktails. Nice atmosphere.
totally enjoyed the outside dining. Delicious plates.
Beautifully executed and delicious.
Terrible slow service. Took over an hour for out food to arrive.
A special thanks to Trevor the manager for his kind assistance of our food requests.
I made a reservation on Monday for the following Friday -plenty of availability, but
we were seated on upstairs balcony-like being out in left field. We had to go ask for
assistance. I feel they should have given us a better located a table.
Awesome restaurant! Food and service always top notch.
Loved my waiter and how quick and hot the food came out!
Food is fantastic, atmosphere unique, beautiful and fun elegance.
Great experience and will continue to do business meetings there.
Fabulous food, great atmosphere, and outstanding service in the heart of The River Oaks District.
We decided to go despite the bad service reviews and were so glad we did. The service was great. The food was phenomenal. The Brussels sprouts and garlic noodles were amazing for sides. We had the spicy chicken stir fry and MKT redfish. Both were good. And the creme brûlée was to die for
Fantastic lunch on the patio at Le Colonial.
This place is AMAZING! The staff was excellent and definitely made our date night amazing.
Btw... get the dumplings. SO GOOD!
One of my favorite restaurants in Houston. Food is Great. Décor is appropriately “French colonial”, but something needs to be done with the acoustics. With a full house, I could not hear myself breathe.
I love this place! Everything is delicious! Staff is on it and great outdoor dining.
Amazing food and amazing cocktails! Our server was very knowledgeable
We had an amazing time! Great food and service!
Awesome staff, awesome food!
My 22 year old granddaughter’s favorite. We had a great lunch. Noodles were amazing. Brussels sprouts delish. But the filet mignon salad was THE BEST. flavor dancing on the plate. I will be back.
I always like having brunch here. The staff is great and the food is amazing.
We had a really great dinner at Le Colonial! I gave service 4 stars because we were seated, then ignored for 20 minutes, and finally caught a waiter rushing past to ask if there was a waiter for our table. He said he’d check, and if there was something we wanted to order, he’d share that with our waiter. When we gave him our order, he assumed responsibility fir our table, and service from then on was great.
We started with cha gio, papaya salad and ribs—all were delicious. We thought we should try the whole snapper—their specialty—so shared that as an entree. It was great , too (Market Priced, it was expensive at $62 that night—not sure what the range typically is). As it was a special dinner, we opted for dessert, even though we were almost at capacity! We shared a creme brûlée—again, delicious.
Would definitely go back (if prepared for a big bill ;)).
The food exceeded our expectations. They have a nice varied menu with something for everyone. Really enjoyed it.
Great food, the neighbors on the next table even at 10 feet were extremely noisy
Lived sitting outside on one of the first cool nights of the season.
Great service. Thanks Trevor for wonderful experience.
My sister in law and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Food and drinks were wonderful. The bar service seemed to be slow but food service was quick and efficient.
Great food, service and pandemic precautions. We sat outside, they turned one of the heaters close to the kids as it was quite chilly. Very nice appetizers, the roasted salmon was perfect and my wife loved her noodle bowl.
I have been to many restaurants but the food here has to be the best! The best lamb I’ve eaten was at le colonial!
Great, as always!
This was our 2nd time eating here in the last 2 weeks. Everything about our experience was excellent. Will definitely be back
Given the pandemic, dining out right now is a special occasion for us. So, I wanted it all -- great food, a stimulating but comfortable ambiance, attentive, friendly service. And I needed a superb cocktail (or two) and some heat (spicy food). La Colonial delivered all of this in spades. We dined on the patio and felt totally safe. The spicy margaritas were a hit, as were the spicy beef and short rib small plates and the tofu in spicy yellow curry. All DEEISH! Can't wait to go back!
Excellent food and service. We definitely will return!
Delicious! I highly recommend this, I enjoyed it all.
