You’ll find L’assaggino on a quaint cobbled street, one of Richmond’s prettiest locations – a Grade 2 listed building off Richmond Green. Enjoy fresh homemade pasta and authentic Italian cuisine from our Chef who is a North Italian native, from Genova. Very nice place located in a very nice area of Richmond. Very positive: Owners and staff were very friendly and kind people. Drinks wise, my partner and I really liked the idea of Spritz and Negroni made with the typical Sardinian spirit, Mirto, as the Vermentino white wine was nice too. We were promptly served with Aperitifs and bread and olives, which were very nice. I enjoined my starter, Calamari ripieni and the dessert which was Millefoglie sarda. Very negative: My Calamari ripieni portion, in spite of the fact I really enjoyed them, was very small. Too small, I’d say, even for a starter. My partner’s BRUSCHETTA RUSTICA. The bread wasn’t nice at all as the cherry tomatoes weren’t. The mains, we had great expectations about, left us very disappointed. I ordered fresh pappardelle chestnut pasta with lamb ragù, but in spite of the fact the lamb sauce wasn’t bad at all, the pasta was quite disappointing. The Pappardelle were basically flavourless. My partner Sea-bass pan fried with salad and potatoes didn’t taste nice either. Especially the potatoes seemed old, like if they were reheated from the day before. Shame. Because we really liked the place, the atmosphere and the people working there, but if, the overall experience about food we were served was disappointing, that makes us not coming back there ever again.

We had a delicious meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we were made to feel very welcome. Highly recommended.

Our meal was good, the main problem was time. We were going to the theatre and originally I tried to book a table for 5:30pm but the restaurant doesn’t open till 6:00pm which meant we felt a little rushed to get to the theatre by 7:00pm. The service was good and the food was well cooked and presented. I would recommend but if you are attending the theatre it might be a bit rushed, the restaurant might consider opening 30 minutes earlier which would help. They appeared to be well booked for later in the evening so maybe early suppers are not really a driving element for them.

Food was fantastic best Italian food I have experienced in the UK. Restaurant is compact so booking is essential in my view. The service is excellent and I shall be returning.
