    Disappointed by Lack of Training and Preparedness As a longtime fan of Landry’s Seafood, I was disappointed by a recent experience at the Lakefront location in New Orleans. Our party of eight was seated promptly, and while our waitress was very friendly, it quickly became apparent that she was unprepared and unsupported by restaurant management for handling a large table and higher-end service. We ordered a bottle of white, red, and champagne, along with several cocktails. The waitress admitted she knew nothing about wine and asked us to point at the menu. After a long wait, drinks began to arrive out of order, and we were initially told our champagne selection was unavailable—only to have it appear later, unopened and left for us to handle ourselves. For a toast, this lack of basic service was disappointing. Appetizer service was also disjointed. One guest tried three times to order a salad before raising his voice to get her attention, and we were only told after apps arrived that the grilled oysters were unavailable—leaving one person without a first course. The same happened with entrees: snow crab and swordfish were ordered, only for the waitress to later return and say they were out of both. While the waitress was pleasant, it’s clear that management did not equip her with the training, wine knowledge, or kitchen communication needed for a party of this size and spend level. What should have been a seamless, celebratory dinner fell well below the standard I’ve come to expect from Landry’s.

    We had reservations weeks in advance but the staff was not prepared for our party. The waiter did drive by’s and was not attentive. In addition, the food was sub par all of the fish dishes we overcooked. Very disappointing because we were celebrating a birthday.

    We had a lovely server named Toni and enjoyed a delicious meal. Landry’s Monday-Friday lunch special is a great bargain! Gumbo, fried shrimp, French fries and onion strings for $20!

    Had a great time celebrating my wife birthday. Food the view and our service was great. The only thing that was wrong was they were out of oyster. That's the only bad.
