All of them were so nice!
I want visit again.
Very filling, worth every bite. Will definitely be revisiting in the future.
Very good food and service. We were taken good care especially when they found out that we are celebrating a birthday. Highly recommended.
As always excellent service the dishes are just amazing best deal on the island. The staff goes out of there way to make sure your dining experience is A+
Make the reservations and experience a great night. 👍
Get there before sunset and enjoy the incredible view. The food is amazing! You choose a 3 or 4 course dinner from a variety of items on the menu. You can do this in any order or any configuration you want- Do you want 4 entree type dishes? order up! Do you want 1 starter and 3 desserts? You can do that! It really doesn't matter how you do it, just do it. The food is incredibly good and creatively prepared and presented. The room is open air and has a great view but has quirky touches in the decor that will have you wondering- why? No matter. The service was as excellent as the food. Michael is one of the best wait professionals we have experienced in a long time. The entire team was awesome. Do the wine pairings for the best experience.
The ambiance and view is amazing. Love their menu where you can pick and choose between 3 or 4 items for a set price. The service we received was from Mason and the other members of the staff was exemplary. Will definitely return to experience the food and service again!
Last dinner after a week of trying out new trendy restaurants popping up on the scene. The restaurant is an open air dining a step from the lobby. I have seen this trend done better. In the Ritz, it feels like a walkthrough to the sushi restaurant. It feels very casual. You have a choice between a 3 or 4 course menu which is very liberal. You can have all desserts of the same kind if you like. This makes it easy for everyone to choose what they like. I chose the asparagus soup with poached egg. I have read so much about this and was excited but I was not impressed. not that it was bad but just meh. I feel it needed more seasoning. Which I feel is true for the whole meal. Btw, the first course arrived 30 minutes after the amuse bouche. The salmon was perfectly done. By itself was ordinary but eaten with the spinach and the pearl potatoes together was elevated . The truffle sauce on the quail gave it the much needed umami. My date tried the cheese taste ,scallops with cauliflower and the lobster remoulade. They were all good. We wanted to try the soufflé but was afraid to wait since the orders came very slowly. My server was busy but made time to attend to our meal. He was very knowledgeable.
This is a very strange deal here. It's sort of a pop up in the coffee shop of the Ritz Hotel. The chef is super creative but somewhat over does every dish. If he prepared them a bit simpler, I would have enjoyed them better but all in all, we had a great time. The service was good although there were not many diners in the place. The ambiance is coffee shop chic and there is a view of the ocean so it wasn't so bad.
Very innovative food. Interesting flavor combinations, like quenelles of escargot. Full service bar that was able to produce my requested aviation cocktail without flinching and no questions asked. Amazingly attentive and helpful service.
Everything was perfect! Great staff and service! I would def recommend to a friend.
Loved it and can’t wait to return.
The staff was great!! Everyone was so kind and attentive toward all the guest. They worked very well as a team with smooth precision. They were knowledgeable of the menu were able to answer any questions I had and made wonderful recommendations. The food was absolutely delicious!! The view and the live piano music just added to a peaceful and relaxing dining experience. I was full, content, and glad that I chose La Vie as my dining option. Thank you to everyone on staff for being a part of my blessing.
You must improve quality of house red win
La Vie is such an enjoyable experience. The service was great. Everyone that you passed greeted you properly. Go on a Friday night and you will get a chance to view the fireworks show at Hilton Hawaiian Village. The pianist plays music to match the fireworks show.
The menu was unlike any other. Go for the tasting menu with wine. The good thing about La Vie is that although the entire table had to participate in the tasting not everyone had to have the same choices. This made it unique in itself because everyone got a different experience all to themselves.
The noise level was quiet. You don't hear the usual clanging of utensils to plate like other restaurants. You can chat with your party knowing you didn't have to talk over the others around you.
I can't wait to go back again.
Our reservation was at 8:15 PM SO WE GOT THERE ABOUT 10 min early. We were directed to the lounge seating because our seat was still being occupied. The rest of our party joined shortly after at the lounge seating. 15 min passed our reservation time so I asked what is going on. We were told to wait. So we did...but another 15 min went by. Already 30 min has gone by and since I was the only one that spoke English I told the person at the restaurant that I am getting very disappointed since I was hosting this dinner, and my guests from Japan was with me who was looking forward to eat at La Vie, I expressed my concern. Then, the person I talked to had provided us a glass of champagne to each of us. However... by the time we sat at our table it was well passed 9pm, 45 min has passed our reservation time. After our order was done and our food came, I was very satisfied. The food and the service was awesome. I don’t honestly know if the service was overly nice because of our looooong wait, but I forgave them since it’s a fairly new restaurant. If I decide to go the next time and the same wait time happen, I am definitely walking out.
Culinary genius, brilliant fusion of flavors and textures, every dish was delicious and beautifully presented, food art! Words cannot do justice to describe the scrumptious dining experience. We both had the four course and were able to try 8 of our selections from the menu. Every dish was a savory delight! Must haves - Macadamia infused tofu topped with caviar& shaved abalone, Lobster w/ pickled asparagus and slaw, Onaga red snapper w/ roasted grapes, Scallops w/ roasted cauliflower & pink grapefruit. I most recently had dinner at Alma a Michelin restaurant in Lisbon, Portugal and Familjen in Sweden. The food at La Vie was just as good as those Michelin restaurants I have dined at recently. Servers were courteous and well informed. Only wished they could have kept our water glasses refilled and refreshed.
We had a wonderful meal with great service and view!
Excellent all around!! We celebrated 3 of our birthdays. Nice Piano music to!
Absolutely delightful meal service and atmosphere
Surely go back there soon
Spectacular. The best meal we have had in Honolulu in two years. The fois gras was seared perfectly and melted in my mouth. The beef was butter. The choices were diverse and flexible. My son in law ordered three entrees in the tasting menu while my wife chose 3 hors d’deovres - no problems. The chocolate soufflé was one of the best I have had. This restaurant really deserved some attention from the boys at Michelin.
La Vie was a great overall experience. High end dining with all the service and great food without the pretentiousness. An interesting open menu concept and beautiful atmosphere make it a great place to enjoy yourself and relax.
If your server is Hayden, you'll be lucky because he's most personable and knowledgeable!
La Vie is exceptional on all levels. This is a 5 star restaurant best we have ever been to. A must do in hawaii!
We dined here on New Years Eve. The overall experience was fantastic, the service (Hayden) was top notch. All of the staff had an immense amount of knowledge in regards to the ingredients and the wine pairings. The kitchen crew lead by (Chef Patrick) knocked cit out of the park! Perfectly orchestrated and absolutely delicious.
I’m really underwhelmed by this place. It really is just an extended part of the bar and we get a better view from our balcony at home.
Firstly, not to get anyone in trouble, our servers were friendly and upbeat and our water glasses were constantly topped off.
It was a course menu for New Year’s Eve, and it started out okay. The food was fair and the timing was good but when it came to having our steaks served, it seemed that everyone went out for a smoke break or something and everyone had disappeared. I waved our waiter down and said we were hungry. A few minutes later we got our steaks(grisly, hard to cut into). Not worth the wait.
Loved the Sushi Sho restaurant we visited last year. Expensive but perfectly timed and worth it. We wouldn’t revisit La Vie again though.
The food and service was very good. We loved the creative way you can combine any courses and dishes you want for one flat price. The wine pairing was very nice as well. The food itself was super creative and had great flavors, and beautiful presentation. We will defintely go back!!
The food is outstanding but service is very very slow — we were not even served bread for a full hour after seating. Since we were seated at 8:45 or so this was definitely an issue. Dessert, similar delays but would say the food was exceptional
The food here is world class. Truly an amazing culinary experience. The wait staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Our only quibble is that it takes too long between plates. An average of 35-45 minutes between courses feels much too long, even for a place where savoring the food is a must. It took almost an hour from seating before the amusee bouche arrived. It seems silly to quibble when the overall experience was so positive, but I hope the kitchen can figure out a more moderate pacing. Still, very glad we went and we will long remember the foodie experience!
Restaurant and menu looks very good and service was great. But unfortunately my fish and lobster came overcooked and the beef was quite tough. We expected more from the food.
Food is wierd and overpriced but setting and service very good.
Good atmosphere, nice food and excellent service. Price is a bit expensive, but reasonable for this quality of food and service. I will definitely coma back to this restaurant.
This was our first time here. We went on Christmas Eve and chose the special Christmas menu. We really enjoyed the open air atmosphere. All of the food was excellent, although grossly overpriced. The staff was professional, attentive without being overbearing. This was a very enjoyable evening and we look forward to returning for another "special occasion" dinner.
I love La Vie. It is such an amazing culinary experience. The staff are so attentive and skilled. The food is exquisite. Mahalo for making this such a lovely dining experience for us.
3 of us selected 4 course menu and all the dishes tasted good.
Three things they should consider:
1. Dress code
2. 12+ age requirement
3. Better head waiters
Food was wonderful and interesting. Water staff and junior waiters and waitresses were lovely but head waiter we had had zero personality and came across as completely disinterested. Once he was actually nodding and smiling while someone spoke to him and then had to say ‘what were you saying’ as he totally was checked out. There was an active toddler who was clearly not wanting to be there for hours and hours and after 9pm- and the parents just carried on. Not enjoyable whatsoever.
Our experience was phenomenal. Our waiter, Hayden, was very knowledgeable and courteous. The evening view was breathtaking sitting at the balcony edge. We chose the Chef’s Menu with Wine Pairing and Three Course Selection. All dishes were executed very well and tasty.
We loved the flexible menu. The food was fantastic.
