It was very nice but it seemed a little pricey for what you get! I ordered the soufflé and it was a little milk soggy. The fish was cooked beautifully and the presentation was nice.
Wonderful food options, high quality ingredients. Great vegan option and hubby enjoyed his meat and seafood options. Bravo to the chef. The waiters are knowledge and very polite. Relaxing, tranquil views looking out to the ocean.
Highly recommend - had dinner at both Sushi Sho and then La Vie at the Ritz and had a top notch experience as expected! At first when I was looking at the menu, I was a bit concerned (especially after having so many small bites at Sushi Sho) that there were only* three or four course menu's available. Howeverrr, after having dinner, you are able to have all appetizers, all desserts or even all main courses if you would like - up to you. My husband and I are able to devour food and were pleasantly surprised how filling the various dishes were on top of the unique pairings of ingredients and options. If that does not do it for you, you can always add on if you would like any additional items. If the menu does not impress you, the view will for sure!
Seated at the worst table next to check in desk. More than 45 minutes after ordering dinner we finally received two slices of bread. Food was okay but was marred by the way they served our choices. I was served my entree when my wife was served her dessert. The manager never made an appearance to ask how the dinner was going. And to top the dinner off, we were charged a “Celebritory Fee” for a horrible dessert.
One of the best restaurant to dine in Honolulu/Waikiki area! Everyone there are very attentive and provide great service. Their waiter/waitress are very knowledgeable about the food/wine they serve. The food was just AMAZING!!
La Vie offers quality food and outstanding services. Food is great and great value as well given the quality of the food
Other than the beef tartare that was just okay. The food, service, and ambiance made it a great experience.
Nice sunset location with superior service, very good food. Live piano player is a nice touch. Good safety precautions.
All the staff were great and Henry was a fab waiter. The view all the way to the ocean was gorgeous. We each got the 4 course meal and it was all very good. Of particular note was the Hamakua salad, the foie gras, the venison, and the chocolate souffle. Enjoy!
I LOVE there set menus. The are perfectly portioned so we get to try at least 3 things from the menu.
Their menu changes a little. I basically love everything I have tried on their menu and i've already been twice. They make it perfectly seasoned. I even tried frog and deer (two different times) and the chef made them perfectly!! There were no overpowering flavors. Every sauce and taste complimented each other.
The view is BEAUTIFUL too! I went during sunset.
We came here to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, and it was a great experience all the way around. Sometimes high end price fix restaurants can be so eclectic that they are not very good, and the portions are so small that you walk away hungry. Not the case here - everything was really delicious, and the portions, while not huge, were certainly enough. It might make the list of our top 10 meals ever. Also the service was exceptional, and they brought out a complementary dessert with Happy Anniversary inscribed on it.
So we wanted a bit of a getaway from our usual spots on the west side and try something new. Many of our friends suggested Signatures (which was a good choice and still on the list of places to try) but we wanted more than just the usual steak, mash potato and asparagus. And tbh, it was pretty difficult to find a place because some restaurants still haven’t reopened. This was one of the few that was. We had our doubts in the beginning but man, this place was a complete surprise. It’s a French Asian fusion. It’s hard to describe because of the unexpected components they used to make their food so flavorful. Some of the words on the menu were in French so I had no idea what I was eating 🤣. Yes, the portions may be smaller but quality takes quantity by a M I L E. All I knew was I wanted more of it. If you appreciate the art of plating, you can expect it from this place. And still, everything is edible down to the small flower petal. Also, completely satisfied by the quality of their service and hospitality. And the best thing, we didn’t have to break the bank just to eat here. We had a 4 course meal and an order of wagyu on the side and we spent less than the amount we paid at the restaurant we went to for our birthdays.
I have lived in Hawaii for over 25 years and this dinner was without question the best I have had anywhere here. They have a multi-course meal menu that they are completely flexible with. You pay for what you order and you order exactly everything you want. Everything that we ordered was perfect and so very delicious! This is my new favorite restaurant. I will need to save up to return. lol
An excellent experience with Michael as our server. He was personable, professional, and very knowledgable about food and beverage. At the beginning of our meal, the noise level was a little high due to the restaurant’s proximity to a swimming pool.
The food was extraordinary and the wine and cocktails we tried were superb. As upscale as this restaurant is, it doesn’t feel stuffy. The choose-your-own-adventure nature of the menu allows the diner to be as creative as they’d like to be. Fine dining can be an intimidating experience, but the staff at La Vie ensures that it can instead be an enjoyable and relaxing one.
My husband and I agree - this was the best meal we’ve ever had in our lives!
Beautiful restaurant with amazing service and genius food
It was very easy going and nice atmosphere. My wife and I loved it. The food was amazing and the staff was very well mannered and knowledgeable.
Friendly and helpful staff, great food, beautiful view of the city at night.
It was a different experience than what my boyfriend and I are used to (we usually go to steak houses for special occasions) but this was great! I enjoyed that we could share courses and that we basically tasted half the menu that way.
Amazing food and service. Our server Ru and the rest of the staff were fantastic.
We enjoyed dinner thoroughly at La Vie. Wes and all the staff were amazing and made us feel pampered. One of the best hamachi plates and their take on ispahan was delicious!
The restaurant went over the top for our anniversary dinner! Gives the flexibilty to create your own pre-fixe from a three or four course option, plus other offerings with a supplement. Great wine list, too.
Now added to my 'must go' list every time I return to Oahu
This restaurant was excellent! It's a prefix menu, and you can customize your courses based on the options listed.
The service was first rate abs it’s just not dinner you are getting, you get to enjoy a culinary experience. Highly recommend the pairing with the meals. The staff was first rate.
Flawless...that is all
Amazing presentation as well as superb food pairings. Chef came out and met us a fantastic food experience not to be missed
Everything was just out.of.this.world!!! A big mistake if you don’t try it. Huge!
Great food. Fancy place so if you just want something quick and cheap. This isn’t the place for you. Anniversary, birthday, graduation dinners this would be the perfect spot!
Food, drinks, and service were absolutely amazing. Great for special occasions or if you just want great food.
Being vegetarian it was nice to see that they had a veg menu which was amazing.
Amazing menu and huge wine list. Nice for a romantic dinner or special occasion. Wait staff is very knowledgeable and proud of the food they are serving. Definitely one of Hawaii’s top chefs
An overall wonderful evening with well made offerings and a knowledgeable and attentive staff.
We ordered the three course tasting menu, with a few upgrades (there is a list of chefs specials, that for an up charge can be substituted for the items on the standard menu). Each dish was very well crafted and beautifully presented.
The wine list is good, if the markups high by mainland standards, though comparable to other Hawaii restaurants
If I had any small quibbles with the evening, I’d say the introductory “lecture “ by the server was a bit condescending for people familiar with fine dining (it seemed a weird script). And the time between our wine being presented and opened to the first course was perhaps a bit long, we were well into our second glass of wine each when finally the first course arrived
These were small issues overall in what was a pleasant evening
The atmosphere, the service, and the food was great.
Wonderful dinner that felt very safe (solid COVID measures in place). We were celebrating a birthday for my SO and the entire La Vie staff wished him a happy birthday as we walked in and again as we departed. Michael, our waiter made the dinner very special throughout. He walked us through the menu and provided helpful details to customize our choices. Everything was amazing (my favorites included the snapper, foie gras, beef tartare, and squab). We'll definitely be back!
Very nice special occasion place. Good variety and like the taps-style concept of selecting 3-4 plates from the menu. Expect to pay >$200 per person with drinks.
It's been a while since we have eaten out and WOW this was worth the wait. First of all, everything was safely distanced and while filling out their contact form seemed redundant since we booked through OpenTable I'm glad they have contact tracing protocols in place.
The service was wonderful and the food was great. I love how you can pick whatever entrees you want so dietary concerns were easily dealt with. The open air dining room was also wonderful and refreshing.
A wonderful French restaurant with a nice view of the sunset/ocean. Portions were perfect as well as the many selections. Enjoyed the Special Mu fish dish as well as the Oysters. Will definitely return to try other dishes. The service was amazing!
Finally French restaurant that my husband agrees with! We’ve tried other French restaurants (high and mid end) in the pursuit of changing my husband’s dislike for this cuisine and I’m so glad La Vie changed his mind! Service, food, ambiance were A++ without being stuffy. We will definitely be back to enjoy their well put together cuisine again!
Hands down the best French restaurant in Waikiki. Same owner as Hy’s Steakhouse and Quiora. All stellar places for special occasions. La Vie’s food, wine and staff are all top notch. I will go every time I am in Hawaii!
