La Petite Grocery
The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans.

The waitresses was rude
Our server was very knowledgeable of the detailed ingredients in our dishes. The crab beignets were amazing! And the wine was a perfect complement to our meal! We will definitely be going back!
Birthday lunch with girlfriends. We had the short ribs, crab beignets, and ricotta gnocchi as appetizers. Great variety of flavors, the gnocchi are pillows of divine deliciousness.
We split the cheeseburger and turtle bolognese. Dessert was the butterscotch pudding and baked Alaska.
Food, service, and atmosphere were on point. One of my favorites!
GREAT food, service and atmosphere. Menu was really outstanding and the cocktails were jus excellent.
Everything about our dining experience exceeded all our expectations... a must to return!!
Thank you to LPG❤️
Wow, another hit on Magazine Street. Service was over the top and kept the courses moving. The dumplings were the favorite of the table.
The bloody Mary’s were balanced and the house pickled veggies were a welcome treat.
Decided to venture out for special meal at one of New Orleans restaurants, wanting to celebrate my daughter as well as support the restaurant community. Le Petite Grocery met and actually exceeded my expectations for COVID restrictions. Tables were spaced far apart, all employees wore masks, and there was hand sanitizer available at the hostess stand. Food was excellent, as was the service. We ate the crab beignets, ricotta gnocchi, turtle ragu, hamburger, and flounder special with citrus beurre blanc sauce. Bar drinks were excellent as well. My only complaint was that the restaurant was loud. I don't know if it was just a loud table in the room, or too many hard surfaces for the noise to bounce off of, but it was loud.
The service was impeccable and the food was outstanding.
Lovely time with my daughter for brunch. Careful social distances were in place. Attentive service without being overbearing. Just a good experience.
It's our neighborhood restaurant. Love the usual offerings but the specials are always good. The crabmeat beignets are wonderful. Turtle bolognese so hearty; really good.
Never had a bad meal here, or even an item that wasn't a hit. The service is always friendly and welcoming. These are chefs that can elevate even a humble hamburger to a gourmet delight. Very highly recommended.
We were treated wonderfully and loved everything we ordered! We will be back here every time we come to New Orleans! The cocktails were phenomenal and the food was, too. We ordered the butterscotch pudding for dessert and it was so delicious.
Service, food and ambience were excellent. My redfish was perfect. The sweet potato soup was delicious. My dining companion had to eat lightly because had too many snacks at the game, so he had a shrimp salad with pickled vegetables. It was great (I sampled) as were the beets we had as a side. The butterscotch pudding with the cookies was perfect. Cocktails and wine parings were wonderful. We really enjoyed ourselves.
We came to celebrate my 30th birthday! At first, the service was fine. My friends short rib was cold. The waitress said the garnish was meant to be cold. She said I understand but it’s all cold. From that point on, she was rude and service deteriorated... to the point she was whispering ugly things under her mask. The food was great and I would definitely be back. My waitress just needed to check her attitude.
The upper most class, quality, creativity and variety, as expected from a New Orleans institution.....without the old school arrogance.
Wonderful food, on point service, great cocktails. Win Win Win!
Service was excellent from entry through departure. We had plenty of space and felt very comfortable with the COVID protection measures in place. I highly recommend the ricotta dumplings and shrimp & grits.
Creative menu, polite service, lovely environment, and fabulous food. This was only my 2nd visit but look forward to many more.
With excellent entrees, appetizers, and superb service, Le Petit Grocery never ceases to please! Really enjoyed the cocktails as well.
Another great meal with great service at La Petite! The food is exceptional and satisfying and the service professionals are warm and top notch! We'll be back again and again!
Absolutely delicious fare, careful service, and festive spot for a special occasion. Felt very safe w COVID precautions in place. Only downside was how very very expensive it was—$35 for 3 scallops seems a bit high, even for how excellently prepared they were.
Great dinner here. We have been here many times and it never disappoints.
always a great experience. great food and great service.
Visited LPG for the first time in several years and I was quite pleased that the food, service & ambience were excellent. Better than I remember!
Had a lovely late lunch. We sat outside. The food was amazing. Absolutely loved the grits.
excellent as always.
Great food. Great service. Food is a tad overpriced for the portion sizes.
Delicious food and wine, and great friendly service!
Happy New Year Eve dinner with wine pairing was superb! My husband and i could not have had a better setting and food and wine pairing to welcome in 2021. And say good bye to the awful 2020. We will definitely return for another meal at Petite Grocery in 2021.
This restaurant is so tasty! Great happy hour with some good cocktails and snacks. We were during the middle of the pandemic/holiday season and sat outside with our dog. The staff that helped us were so polite and friendly, even brought some water out to our dog. Dont skip the crab beignets and if you love fries, get a basket of those too. We both enjoyed our entrees (shrimp/grits and seafood stew). Great service, great food, great atmosphere, great location!
Always a stop when in New Orleans
the crab beignets and turtle bolognese fabulous as usual! loved the shellfish stew, very light and good flavor.
Dinner was amazing!! Covid protocols were great for indoor dining! I felt very safe and clean during the entire experience!! The food was SO delicious!!
Always superb- from the ambiance to the aervice to the outstanding food
Fantastic service. GREAT food and a wonderful Old Fashioned!!! Had dinner for four and was extremely impressed. The Blue Crab Beignets are amazing. Scallops and gnocchi were perfect and the special, Lamb T-Bones, were delicious. I highly recommend!!!
The food, service and value all were excellent. I slightly downgraded the ambiance and noise level only because we sat at an outdoor, sidewalk table on a very busy street.
Outdoor seating was not ideal. Could have used heaters. Also there was not great lighting. Food was great though.
The blue crab beignets were awesome, as were the ricotta dumplings. The main dishes, while really good, were all a little too heavily salted for our taste. Service was superb. No problem with recommending this for a return trip,
Brunch on Saints came weekend. Great food, great service.
Outstanding all the way around! Great food and attentive service. Very dog-friendly (and covid-avoidant) at outside tables!
