La Petite Grocery
The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans.

Our waiter was charming and our food was magnificent. Shrimp and grits and red snapper special were spectacular.
Everything was good, we had the Crab Beignets, Cheeseburger, and Flank Steak. The cocktails were amazing. Great, first time/Fathers Day outing.
This restaurant was overall good. The food was good, although not the best. The service was consistent and not overbearing. The ambiance was nice and understated.
Hostess was awesome!!!
Service…meh need to be more attentive and have a personality
We went for Fathers Day brunch and everything was perfect. Delicious cocktails, thoughtful menu, attentive staff, and even amazing espresso with dessert.
It's been over a year since we last dined with them due to the pandemic and it was outstanding as usual. In fact it may have been one of the best dining experiences we've ever had there.
I was expecting more creole and French inspired food. The shrimp and grits was sweeter than expected and the hanger steak was drowned in suace. The crab puff appetizer was good.
Awesome restaurant. All of the appetizers were great. They also accommodated my large party. Highly recommended
The food was very good and service was spectacular.
Fine. Tuna was a bit salty other than that it was fine
It was wonderful. Get all of the appetizers! The pudding and snowball are a must for dessert.
Nice neighborhood restaurant. Food was very good but not great. My chicken dish was VERY salty. Chairs were extremely uncomfortable. Got baked Alaska for dessert but wish I’d ordered the chocolate dish. I was a little disappointed based on what I’d read.
The over rated Crab beignets were bland and over priced. Shrimp and grits were ok but so far from traditional that they lost their way. Butterscotch pudding dessert was on the small side, but the cookies were great.
Fun, quirky, and very tasty! Highly recommended.
App was wonderful but food and drink average😞
The food and service was absolutely amazing!!!
The food was fabulous. The service was excellent. Please don't miss coming here.
An excellent restaurant with fresh well seasoned good.
This was our best dining experience in New Orleans! I made a mistake on our reservation date, but the hostess found a table for us. The blue crab beignets are phenomenal, as is the rabbit. Service was impeccable.
The food was so excellent
We really enjoyed it
La Petite has been our favorite restaurant in the city for years. We went last night for our son's 18th birthday. The hostess at the door was so nice and told him they would make his birthday extra special. That did not happen. Our server was awful. She had zero personality and did not even try to make our experience good. She brought out an amuse bouche with no explanation of what it was. When our son didn't eat his main meal, she didn't not even ask if there was something wrong with it and was there anything she could do to fix it. We felt rushed and as if no one cared that we were spending $300 on a meal. The prices have increased and the quality has not. When the server brought a scoop of ice cream with a candle for my son's birthday she just plopped it down in front of him and walked away without even a "happy birthday". I used to recommend La Petite to everyone I know including all the out of town parents from Tulane. I will not be doing that anymore.
Wonderful lunch, highly recommend!
Always a good choice!
We had to sit outside this time because we were late to reserve a table. We sat on the side street side. It was okay. Could use some fans and a little more shade late in the day. Give it a 2 or 3 for ambience, but inside is great. Our service and food was great.
Food was good overall, but portions are really small for the price. The lamb was very small- four bites (only two chops on the plate t-bone cut) about $10 a bite. The blue crab beignets were phenomenal though. Definitely get them. Not sure I would return knowing so many good food spots in the city.
Lunch was great. Grits and shellfish stew. And a oldfashioned drink.
Everything was delicious and beautifully presented, as always.
Always wonderful- we’ll be back!
Great food, service, and ambiance.
We will return soon.
We had such delicious food! I’m not sure if it was because of a Sunday or if we just hit an off time, but our food took quite awhile to get to us. It was roughly 75 minutes between appetizer and entrées. Will definitely go back, but keep in mind you may want to allow yourself time for a very leisurely experience!
I have eaten at La Petite Grocery many times. The food is always excellent and innovative. Service was superb. One of my favorite places to eat in New Orleans.
We introduced friends from out of town to the restaurant. It was a win on every level!!
food was outstanding!
This was our last meal in NOLA and was by far the best. The food was amazing!! Every bite was delicious. Do yourself a favor and GO!
Lovely restaurant with delicious food at a reasonable price. Definitely a hidden gem, I’ll be back. An authentic taste of Paris in New Orleans!
Simply one of the best restaurants in America. Eat here!
The cocktails and food were great! The service was impeccable!
ALWAYS a joy to visit La Petite Grocery and to be waited-on by the fabulous Chuck and team!
A little loud but very enjoyable
Incredible food, incredible service! Recommend 10/10
