La Petite Grocery
The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans.

Still one of the best restaurants in the city and taking Covid seriously (all except the hostess, who was the only staff member who was mask-less. Why?) The food is excellent the food and cocktails are fantastic. Inspired wine list. The service is polished and warm. The outdoor seating is on the street, but it's a nice quiet street in the evenings.
Great brunch as always at La Petite! Blue Crab Beignets are one of my favorite dishes in the city!
People were very good. Food was ok.
I love this restaurant and hope this was just an off day. The appetizers were great- tuna tartare and a special cauliflower soup that was outstanding! Fries were delicious. My hanger steak was really tough and chewy, very under seasoned. This is my go to dish here generally. My sister’s scallops were delicious but much smaller than we were told- better as an appetizer. We sat at the bar, so our bartender did her best, but service was a little slow. I love this place and will definitely return, but this meal wasn’t the best.
This is the one restaurant in New Orleans that we always make a point to return. This is the best restaurant in New Orleans in my opinion.
Throughly enjoyed our dinner here on our 1st night in NOLA. Great neighborhood feel and excellent food. I had the red snapper special and it was outstanding.
One of the best meals we have had during our visit to New Orleans! The restaurant was lovely and fairly quiet. And the meal did not disappoint - especially the crab beignets!
Great service! Food was fab. Thank you.
The tuna tartare was excellent, the beignets were interesting (don’t really understand the hype though), the burger was way less than average (way too salty, the patty was not tender and moist, flavors were unbalanced). Overall, disappointing. I was looking forward for a great meal because of how highly rated this place was but it was really unsatisfactory.
Fantastic as always!
Service was fine… not very friendly though. Food was decent but overpriced. Doubt I would return
Everything that our group of 5 ordered was outstanding, service was delightful, atmosphere was fun. We’ve been on two separate visits to New Orleans, and we will go again!
The dishes we ordered were delicious but not exceptional, especially considering the price. They were more novelty than anything. Staff was absolutely lovely though.
Creative and absolutely delicious cooking. Crab beignets and ricotta dumplings especially amazing.
Took out of town guests to brunch the day after Christmas and unfortunately many of the dishes we had hoped to be served were not available. We ordered the crab beignets appetizer (we ordered 2 of them at $20 a piece for 5 teeny tiny beignets!) and they were fried it what tasted like rancid/old oil. Very unpleasant tasting. The bloody Mary’s were good though. Other dishes were average, really nothing spectacular. The wait staff was pleasant and accommodating and the ambiance was nice.
Love this restaurant! I make sure to come every time I visit NOLA. Staff, food, and service never disappoint.
Nice place. we had the Sea food stew and Turtle Bolognese, Stew was too salty, Bolognese was under-seasoned. Both were small for price. Deserts were fantastic. Server was fantastic.
Maybe this was just an off night, but La Petite Grocery didn’t live up to it’s reputation.
Fabulous venue, people and food!
We went during Christmas week 2021, hands’ down the best meal of our visit - Outstanding. Our server, Abby, was knowledgeable, had the right “timing,” and gave helpful advice about the fabulous menu. We had the blue crab beignets (bc you just have to try them), my partner’s Seafood Stew was incredible (and he’s a tough judge), and my lamb t-bones were melt-in-mouth fantastic. Just when we thought we would levitate out, we decided to split a butterscotch pudding, and omgosh it was magical. I’m not usually this gaga in a review, but La Petite Grocery deserves it. 🤩
Great service and a very sophisticated yet casually elegant locale. Clearly a local favorite and for good reason.
Awesome menu and outstanding service! Highly recommend.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the New Years Eve paired 4-course meal. Each dish was creative and most enjoyable. The servings were generous while the wine pairings were each spot on!
Congratulations on affording us a celebratory evening.
What a way to welcome 2022.
Thanks to all!!
Sunday brunch was excellent. Good selection. Even our children found something they enjoyed.
Food was excellent. The crab beignets were out of this world good. Server was polite and knowledgeable. I highly recommend coming here. Definitely leave room for the chess pie.
Delivered first two orders at the same time and had us out the door in under an hour. Would never go back.
Excellent food and service!
The food was ok. Would recommend coming for lunch and getting some of the apps with wine - crab beignets are a must. The sommelier was very helpful and our waiter was fun. He left us some good recommendations for our stay in New Orleans. We sat outside which gave a nice ambiance. I don’t think the main dishes were all that great (turtle bolognese and shrimp and grits).
My first time and I liked it! Will be back soon.
Food was well conceived and completely. Bloody Marys were very good. Think the many MANY outstanding reviews set too high of expectations for me.
Service was slow. Experience fine overall.
The bathroom toilet in the womens, I guess it becomes unhooked so it didn’t flush. I came out of the stall and the server ask me- “did you want me to walk your through how to fix it?”
Never as a guest would I thought I’d be asked to fix the toilet, especially one I didn’t break. I responded- “I would prefer not to have to fix the toilet…” I work in the service industry so that was interesting..
Fabulous food and service was really exceptional !
DO NOT leave town without dining here !
What a lovely and DELICIOUS experience! The wine was tasty, food was outstanding, and service was top notch!
Food was average +. Service was pretentious and slow. Will not return. I have had same server and was disappointed to see that she is still there.
Been dining here since it opened. Always a pleasure
Had reservation for 11am Sunday Brunch reservation for 3. 2 hours in and we STILL hadn't received our main dishes....had to change my son's order "to go" as he would have been late for appointment....NOT happy about paying full price for a to-go order of shrimp and grits bc the kitchen couldn't get entrees served within a 2 hour window....totally unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber....and brunch menu is not that complicated. Only saving grace was we had a lovely waitress. Crab beignets were very good. Overall, I'd say it's overpriced for basic brunch food. Very disappointed.
Our waitress wasn’t exceptional but the food was! Go back without a doubt.
This was my second visit and I was glad to be back. It’s a charming restaurant with good food. I can’t speak to value since my friend paid, but the menu seemed reasonable to me. Portions were appropriate - I certainly did not leave hungry. As a tourist who has visited New Orleans multiple times, I’ve grown skeptical of the traditional restaurants in the French Quarter. It is great to be in a spot where it feels like people who actually live in New Orleans like to go.
Wonderful food and service!
