Bossa Nova Brazilian Cuisine - West Hollywood
Fine Onion Soup. Classic duck breast a l'orange. Booths. Heavy red drapery. Service a little slow, but pleasant. Altogether an excellent brasserie with atmosphere.
Beautiful romantic environment food is amazing, service is outstanding, location it’s nice location. I would highly recommend four couples friends even families to have an amazing time as we did.
The poor service overshadowed the wonderful things about this restaurant. The good was very good, the ambiance was nice and the value was good, but our waitress' lack of competence and the other staff that seemed confused did the restaurant an injustice.
Food was awful. Had to remake 4 dishes twice and still was so bad that we did not eat and left.
The restaurant itself is beautiful.
The food is very good.
The service staff were very friendly but the wait was far too slow. I had to try and flag our waiter down just to pay the bill. Potatoes were missed from my main course but I didn't ask about them and we didn't bother even trying to order dessert because we had been waiting too long already. We left and went elsewhere for dessert.
So much potential but the waiting just ruined the evening.
It’s a small cozy place very romantic setting that we loved it!!! Definitely could be going to eat there again :))
Great restaurant and food; there are just too many tables on Valentines Day, packed so tight it was uncomfortable, but luckily we got to switch before our meals arrived. Service was also very slow with it being so busy but the waitress was fantastic. A nice place for a special occasion.
Wonderful family celebration! We had a great booth seating, the food was good and the waiter so very nice! Love the decor and the music also!
I cannot say enough great things about this place , but an important one is go there , and treat yourself to an experience that is also of exceptional value . The nicest , most elegant brunch , or dinner in LA . They don’t make them like this anymore folks , and they need our support as every fabulous restaurant does , it is a very tough and fickle business in which to succeed .
La Boheme is consistently good.
I love this place. I try to make it out at least once a year. The wait staff is always attentive and kind. The chef made accommodations for my food allergies and the food was spot on.
It was Dine LA when we arrived but we were seated quickly and given prompt service. Every dish was fantastic and the portions very reasonable. The dessert was awesome, and love the wine pairings. Great spot for a higher end dinner with friends or your partner.
Fun but portion sizes are too small for the price.
Thank you for forgetting our order, stalling and ruining our night. We missed an event because of your incompetence. Hiding that B on your door is dishonest. You obviously do not value your customers.
Had the DineLA menu with wine pairing on a Monday so it was quiet. Starter trios, entrees and dessert were all delicious. Nice wine pairings.
The ambiance was lovely and there was excitement in the air. The beet salad was excellent. However, my duck in orange sauce arrived cold and almost flavorless. It did not appear to have been first cooked that day. There was no hint of orange in the sauce. It was very disappointing. My colleague enjoyed her sole, which I tasted and found quite good. It looks like a great date night place for non-foodies.
Amazing as per usual!
Liza is one of the best servers I’ve ever has very professional informative and genuine. The branzino was amazing.
I was looking for someplace special for a friend's birthday dinner and chose this restaurant based on location, Open Table reviews and photos of the interior. Apparently the restaurant underwent a full makeover fairly recently, no idea what it looked like before, but the "new" interior is a wonderful throwback to old school elegance - white jacketed serving staff, linen tablecloths, dark woods with red upholstered booths and glowing chandeliers combine to create a lovely ambiance that felt cozy and relaxed (not stuffy or snobby). Our server, Erin, was bright and energetic, knowledgeable about the food and wine and made excellent suggestions based on our various food preferences. Our entrees - Duck A L'Orange, Rack of Lamb and Sole Meuniere - were delicious, and the dessert of Baked Alaska Flambe was fun and festive (tasty, too). All of the waitstaff did a wonderful job of paying attention to water glasses, clearing plates and serving each course seamlessly. And, the best part of the evening was the fact that the acoustics are excellent - so we were actually able to enjoy a conversation while we enjoyed our meal.
Excellent food in a great ambiance. Definitely will be back!
Lovely ambiance and attentive service by Lisa. Excellent menu selections and reasonable wine list.
We loved everything about our Christmas Eve dinner !
Beautiful restaurant, great service, great food and very accommodating
Beautiful restaurant. There's a new chef, and everything I have tried has been delicious. I recommend going for happy hour and getting the burger and fries with a happy hour cocktail!
Great food but horrible service. We were out in the patio and completely forgotten about. People were wishing out in the patio for seating while we were places out there specifically for whatever reason. If they have live music or special events, they should definitely have the dining room closed or in the least, utilize the patio.
The ambiance is wonderful, but we seemed to find ourselves in the middle of two or three Christmas parties. I had to call to add a few people to my reservation and was not warned about the parties, but kind of wish I had been. We had nice Christmas jazz music for about an hour and then it switched to popular, loud music that was reminiscent of my middle school dances or a wedding. Because of the music, we couldn’t really hear each other at our table which was disappointing. We also ended up being there 3 1/2 hours because we would see our waiter, Liza, every 30 mins to an hour. Immediately when we explained that we were going to get drinks and shareable items for the table instead of entrees, you could see the disappointment and frustration on her face (even though we still spent a similar amount and she had an automatic 18% gratuity on our bill). Another example would be when I asked for the dessert menu and it took her a half an hour to bring them to us and then another 20 to actually order something. We finally had to get up and ask her for our check because we had been sitting done and hadn’t seen her in an hour. Finally, we went for my birthday. When they brought out my dessert with a cool sparkler and candle. It was immediately shadowed by the fact the man had to ask our table who’s birthday it was... This was followed by the sparkler being set on the end of the table (not in front of me), it immediately going out, and having my lit dessert passed down to me (in which the candle fell off and I had to hold it. Not really the perfect birthday celebration I was looking for. All in all, the food and drinks were good, but the environment in the room did not match the ambient setting and a dinner that should have been 1 1/2 to 2 hours took 3 1/2 and kinda ruined the energy of the night...
This is one of maybe five or six visits, since moving here, a year ago. The food has always been good, but this time we felt bad. The cork in our wine broke, but the bottle was still seeled. The waiter threw it out anyway. Gift it to us! One thing that DID upset me was, even with checking in (and they confirmed my name), they didn’t credit my OpenTable account. I try hard to patronize restaurants on Open Table. If I’m not going to be credited, I’ll go to another restaurant!
Great meal in a beautiful venue. Jules, one of our waiters was incredible. Professional, great service with a sincere smile! She made all the difference.
La Boheme has a lot of potential. It is a very nice dining room with a fine menu. We dined for a special occasion on a Saturday night. There were elements of greatness in the food, but the restaurant was significantly understaffed, which led to slow, inattentive service, with long waits between apologetic drive-bys of the waiter and entrees plated long before they were served. Onion soup was top notch, meats were properly done and tasty - though served lukewarm. The cold pommes frites, when replaced with freshly made ones were excellent.
Personally, if I were chef of a restaurant trying to build a reputation in Hollywood, I would've comp-ed the meal, but from the look of things, they would have been to comp-ing everyone. We had some screamers at the next table, so it wasn't easy to converse during the hour and a half wait for the entrees. Overall a pretty hit and miss meal for a couple hundred bucks, but we really want to like La Boheme. Hopefully they were just having a rough night, we'll give them another chance sometime.
Got married here 6 years ago and it was amazing. We had many great meals before then, and we return each year on our anniversary (and sometimes on Valentine's Day). The restaurant recently changed its "concept" but it's still superb. Now it's a French brasserie with an "old Hollywood" feel. The romantic decor remains, but the menu skews more brasserie French, and there are wonderful photos on the wall of Iconic LA scenes.
I had gratin of French onion soup and it was perfect. I chose the Saturday night special, Boeuf Bourguignon, and it was scrumptious. Made with bacon instead of lardons. My husband had the steak frites and that was also perfect. He loved his classic caesar salad too. For dessert, they brought us a delicious wedge of cheesecake, on the house, for our anniversary!
Their cocktails are wonderful and they have an excellent wine list. Great place for a date, a gathering, or even just a group of friends. Impeccable service.
A true West Hollywood Gem!! Love this restaurant!!
Great experience. Waters were really friendly and welcoming
Amazing food and experience! Service was off the charts and the place is beautiful!
I have visited this restaurant many times and have always enjoyed good food in a beautiful environment however the Thanksgiving Dinner was very disappointing. The service was appalling and the restaurant was not completely full. The table we were assigned was adjacent to an outside door to the terrace which was constantly opening and closing on a very cold and rainy night. It was also close to the hallway and kitchen area. We were told "how lucky we were to be given the best table in the house"! This could not be further from the truth and in fact was the worst table in the house. So it was completely disingenuous for us to be told that and extremely patronizing. We had to constantly ask for water. The drinks were slow to come and in fact my last drink never arrived and so I cancelled it. The Thanksgiving Menu offered no flexibility whatsoever and when I requested roast potatoes as a substitution for mashed I was told that was not possible which suggests that the food is already cooked and plated up. Therefore I had to order a separate side order of roast potatoes and was asked if I wanted them with my entree! We had to ask for salt and pepper and then ask again for fresh ground pepper. The atmosphere was awfully noisy and chaotic with constant bumping into the back of my chair by wait staff. The background music was appalling and not in keeping with the beautiful decor of the restaurant. A classy restaurant should extend class to its service and also have enough staff to cope with the busy holiday period.
The food was great, we felt very welcomed, the atmosphere was nice and our waiter, Peter, was fabulous!!!!
This was the best experience I've had in a restaurant in a very long time. The service, the food, the atmosphere-- all outstanding. The only shock we had was at the price in the end, which should have been double what it was. I hope they raise their prices. I'd like them to stay in business for a very long time! DON'T skip the cream of mushroom soup if they have it and definitely order the bread and butter.
The roast chicken in dijon sauce is excellent. The menu very diverse French/New Orleans with something to please everyone. The space is warm and inviting while still having grand soaring ceilings and an interior balcony. The outdoor patio is charming and intimate, both spaces have fireplaces! The servers are very knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive.
While it seems like it is a "special occasion" location, and it certainly is, the prices are reasonable and it is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. They even have takeout!
This is the most beautiful restaurant in LA. Gorgeous interior with lush red seats and booths upstairs and downstairs as well as an outdoor patio. Big open fire on main level and kitchen is open and in view. Food is delicious here. There’s also sone high top tables at entrance where the bar us and a couple of high tops outside of entrance on santa monica blvd. There is valet parking. Located in a very trendy busy area of West Hollywood.
We were there for a special event, for which it proved to be an outstanding venue. The restaurant and staff did a wonderful job. We also ended up staying for dinner afterwards and the food and service were second to none. Our dinners were excellent and our server did a great job.
Went here for the first time for a private event and then stayed for dinner after. I love the atmosphere! The food and service were top of the line. Looking forward to returning.
