KUMOYA, is a Japanese Kitchen and Sushi Restaurant, the passion project of renowned sushi chef Corey Baker in collaboration with Max Mackissock, located in the heart of LoHi. We specialize in traditional sushi and innovative izakaya-style dishes with a modern Japanese twist. Our kappo-style dining concept allows guests to curate their own culinary adventure. Chefs Corey Baker and Max Mackissock draw inspiration from Kaiseki cuisine, celebrating the seasons and micro-seasons inherent in sushi and Japanese cooking, resulting in a dynamic, ever-evolving menu.

This was my first visit to Kumoya, and as a fan of the restaurant group, I was excited to try it. I made an online reservation for 5 PM, and when I arrived, I was seated across from the sushi bar. The restaurant was quite quiet and not very busy, which made it easy to hear the chatter from the bar—something a solo diner might find a bit distracting. I politely asked to be moved, and the manager came over, apologized, and took care of it. Overall, I appreciated the attentive service.

This may very well be the best sushi restaurant that I have ever been to. The entire team is exceptional. The chefs are amazing. Sit at the bar and enjoy the masters at work. It’s like dinner and a live movie

We had a lovely meal here on a Friday evening. My Mom was in town and lives in a rural area that lacks good Japanese so this was a real treat for her. The food was 5/5. Impeccable & expertly prepared with thought and passion which translated directly into the quality of the food and each bite was truly special or of exceptional quality, the atmosphere is a neat and aesthetically pleasing marriage of Japanese tea house and a trendy club in Barcelona. Unfortunately our server was incredibly quiet. No one at the table could hear or understand her, We asked her to speak up and repeat things multiple times but she only seemed to grow more quiet until we started having a debate at the table about if she was playing a joke on us or if it was intentional. Luckily the rest of the staff were buzzing around us like busy bees and seemed really well informed and were able to give us detailed descriptions of what we had been served, since we couldn't hear our server and the rest of the staff was kind enough to speak in audible tones.

Amazing sushi! You can taste the fresh ingredients. Unique roll options. Great service. Will be back. Also get the tiramisu for dessert.

Denver likes to think of itself as a food city. Having traveled the world for fine dining (and having lived in Asia for many years of my life), it is honestly rare to come across a restaurant where the food, service, and quality all exceed my expectations in the Mile-High City. Kumoya, however, did just that and more. The miso cod was perfection. The sake flight was delightfully curated. The eggplant gets a special mention - just gorgeous. The red miso soup was so light and beautiful, our whole table was shocked. We could have come in for that alone and been entirely satisfied. It was a full, filling meal with endless surprises and truly well-prepared and well-cooked food. Definitely a great date-night spot, though I think I'll be back regularly for the miso, cod, and affogato (a surprising triumph of a dessert).

I had a great experience at Kumoya! Not only was our meal delicious but the staff really elevated the dining experience. The host, Eva, greeted us and made us feel welcome. Thalia and Sahar had great food and drink suggestions. I especially loved the corn dessert. The manager, Damont, checked in on our table and was very friendly. I definitely plan on coming back!
