    Have been to KoAn in its variety of incarnations for a few years now and think it's as good today as it ever has been. I'd personally steer people towards the big plates as I think they are superior to the smaller plates. Some of the better versions of somewhat traditional southeast asian dishes to be found anywhere in the triangle.

    Had lovely dessert and small plates— portions were reasonable and food was excellent. The kombucha is not house made, but their seasonal offering was tasty and light. Service was excellent— very understanding and yielding.

    Mother’s Day was ruined. Reservations for 2:30 PM and we were told they were closing and we could not have coffee or dessert. In addition, we had to constant swat flies away from out plates. Definitely not worth the $200+ experience!

    It's been a while since we've been here. We came to get sushi but discovered a new, smaller, more focused menu (and no sushi bar). The food was fantastic! We shared the HAMACHI CRUDO and SALMON CARPACCIO to start. Great, light combo. We shared the large plate KOREAN BIBIMBAP (grilled hanger steak, steamed rice, egg, kimchi, gochujang, collards) as the entree. Served medium rare to perfection. Amazing flavors. So good! For dessert, we had what they call STRAWBERRY (mascarpone custard, almond, balsamic geleé, basil seeds, sesame tuile, brown butter sherbet). Not heavy, nice way to top things off. We'll be back soon.

    Though the food was mostly excellent, the service was lackluster, and there were several times where we were left waiting 20-30 mins for small plates (some of which never came) though the restaurant was not even near capacity. Beyond that, some people in our party were given meals with ingredients that they were allergic to, even though we clarified the allergy situation several times before ordering. In the end, we were there for around an hour longer than we would have liked waiting for food or corrections on our meals.

    Our meal was wonderful beginning with the generously portioned small plates - the cauliflower recommended by our server was outstanding . The space is beautiful and relaxing with great service. We never felt rushed and the server helped guide us on the entree choices which were unfamiliar to us - the korean bbq was delicious. It was a birthday celebration for our party and we enjoyed the interesting taste profiles of the creme brûlée and the liquid chocolate for dessert.

    Everything was delicious. We got 5 different small plates, which were all stellar. Then we each ordered dessert—my so thought “this dessert better be amazing for this price”. He was not disappointed.

    I went for my birthday and made a reservation ahead of time but got stuck at a bar high top and then ignored by our server. The staff in general was very nice but I think we saw our actual server twice. Wouldn’t recommend going for your birthday or special occasion but the small plates were great. The sushi was on the warmer side, which I didn’t think much of at the time, until my stomach was displeased later that evening.

    We battled fruit flies the entirety of our visit. The hamachi crudo was not our favorite, but our main dishes were good and the cookies are to die for.

    Me and my partner had an amazing experience from when we first walked through the door. Everyone is very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. They are very attentive and will constantly make sure your needs are meet. The food was delicious and the presentation was outstanding. I would recommend everyone to check this establishment out.

    From beginning to end, it was a complete and outstanding dining experience. Our server had great suggestions and had perfect timing for bringing out each course. The food itself was Michelin star worthy. Each dish was an elevated version of itself. The flavors crafted into each bite were simply amazing. The attention to detail was impeccable. The desserts were pure art with each piece perfectly placed. The flavors were out of this world. We had the Tuna Truffle Roll, Mandu Crispy Dumplings, Crispy Katsu sandwich, Korean BBQ, Thai Red Curry and for dessert was Carrot Cake, Liquid Chocolate and a special plate that the Chef put together himself for our son’s birthday. The ambiance, low noise level and outside patio dining all added to our great experience. We will definitely go back and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

    Outstanding food. We ordered edamame as an appetizer. It had an amazing flavor. And it was served warm. The salad dressing was awesome, and I highly recommend the Udon. It had a combination of a Asian take and a Southern spice. Incredible. I highly recommend this restaurant. We used to live in SF, and this is one of the few restaurants that's lives up to the SF standards of excellence.

    Nice ambience but the overall experience fell short despite the plating and decor being to our liking. I had ordered my Scottish Salmon cooked all the way through and it came as raw as Sashimi in the middle. We have eaten at your restaurant previously over the years and we have, at the very least, basic expectations and there weren't met. Management didn't seem engaged and never presented themselves and I am not sure who is expediting and who is training the servers on follow up. Fell short overall despite our tasty appetizers, especially the excellent cauliflower dish.

    The food is remarkable. We did a bunch of small plates to try as much as we could. The waitress suggested a sake for us that was the perfect pairing. We finished with dessert and coffee. The cookies we baked to order. That was the cherry on top. It’s now an obsession!
