KoAn was our first night out to a restaurant since pandemic started in March and it was a special occasion to celebrate our children’s birthdays (teenagers). The experience lived up to our high expectations. The generously portioned steamed buns appetizer was a hit with everyone and I especially enjoyed the short ribs as the meat was tender and absolutely delicious. Our waiter, Antonio, was fantastic and really made the night special for us.
Excellent service and food
Excellent food - amongst the best restaurants in the Triangle, couple with outstanding ambience
Service and table seating handles well for indoor dining. Excellent appetizers. Surprised by “heat” on main duck breast entree. HAd to swap meals with my husband. Several entrees had spice warning but not this.
Great night. Great service. Our server Mel was terrific and so attentive. Took care of our special requests. Will definitely go again
Mother child date
Love the ambiance and the decor. The staff is masked and maintained social distancing. The food was excellent - I highly recommend the cauliflower small plate. The "capertiller" sushi roll is very tasty, as is the spicy tuna roll. I will definitely dine there again.
Very hospitable staff. Lovely experience.
We sat on the patio, a delightful space with excellent Covid protocols clearly practiced. I had oysters and the red curry.
Both were excellent and I am looking forward to returning and having them again. We had a small service issue with my husband’s dinner, but the Manager handled it beautifully. Mistakes happen, how they are resolved is what matters. Great food! Great service!
Koan is amazing! Everything was perfect. The experience is unmatched in Cary. I love all the extra precautions to make it Covid safe. Our waiter was the best at the right amount of charm and making our conversations flow at the table. Can’t wait to go back.
We love the restaurant, the service was fantastic! The steamed buns, sushi roll were great! Everyone was friendly and couldn’t believe we drove an hour to eat there. Would and will do it again. Thank you.
Definitely my new favorite place...so delicious and so many options for someone with Celiac disease. They do not skimp on flavor or excellent service.
A truly wonderful dining experience.
Excellent food, well plated and delicious. Wait staff well trained and competent. The outdoor patio was perfect for dining safely.
The only problem was deciding what to order since everything sounded great.
At our table of 4 we had the dumplings, beef tartare, sashimi, pho, Korean bar-b-que and the fried pompano. Can’t wait to return and try some of the rest of the items on the menu.
I will be coming back! Service was knowledgeable about the menu and how good is prepared for any diet. Service was also very friendly and fast!
Food was delicious! Highly recommend on all levels!
Had a great experience. The staff were all friendly. The food was excellent. We will be back for sure.
The oysters were eh. Everything else was delicious and very high end. Best sashimi I've had in the area and I have been here for over 5 years now.
One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to.
It was our 15th anniversary, and the first time my wife and I have been out on a date since the beginning of COVID. We made a reservation on Open Table, mentioned it was our anniversary and requested outside seating. When we arrived we were taken outside and the tables were well distanced and very clean.
During COVID, my doctor had instructed me to begin a gluten free diet. This is new to me. Ko•an had so many options and helped me navigate my order.
The food was outstanding, but the service was even better. Our water glasses never ran dry. And at the end of the night, they brought a plate of freshly baked cookies with “Happy Anniversary” piped on the plate. Once the server realized that the cookies weren’t gluten free, he immediately went back to the kitchen and brought back an entirely new Gluten Free dessert on the house.
It was a perfect evening. We highly recommend it and will definitely be back!
Great food, can't wait to go back! We loved everything we tried! Fun to share stuff
This is the first time at ko.an. It was absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend it.
For pandemic dining, air flow is important. If you eat in the sushi bar area, you will notice the humongous fan in the cooking area. The counter is wide and there is a new protective barrier - you will feel safe. Chef Jeremy Beck is wonderful ... inventive. The menu is great, and, let Jeremy decide (omakase) for you ... you won't regret it.
Excellent menu and food! Great variety of different Asian offerings.
Because they are trying to move the meter on pay and benefits in restaurants
kō•än has done a really great job at creating a safe space during this time. We enjoyed the covered patio where tables were spaced to give an intimate feeling. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is always full of flavor and creativity.
Food was fantastic and service was excellent!
Absolutely incredible! The flavors, the service, everything was spectacular. I’m making our next reservation right now. We loved the surprise between-courses treats.
Went there to celebrate a Birthday. From the excellent customer service to the exquisite dishes served and the refreshing drinks, it was a definite night to remember. The attention to detail is spot on.
Best Bao Buns ever!! Cauliflower appetizer was outstanding! We went two nights in a row! Loved everything!!
Great food and cocktails, full of surprises! Antonio was our waiter and he gave us wonderful recommendations and advice. We will go back!
Pricey, but very good quality. Excellent service
Good new menu. We had a sushi roll appetizer that was very tasty and the Thai curry and Korean BBQ short ribs for dinner and both were excellent. Very good Rose for a very reasonable price. Very polite and warm service.
Our first nice dinner out since the pandemic and it was great. We felt more comfortable and safe than we expected to. Service seemed especially fast but i assume that is because they are only about half full. This was a very nice experience and i would recommend.
First visit, definitely not the last! Our server, Jamel, was friendly and knowledgeable. Drinks from the bar were refreshing and well balanced. We tried several appetizers - the beef, oysters an cauliflower, and all were amazing, particularly the cauliflower. The duck and short rib entrees, also delicious! This place is not afraid of spice. The kitchen sent out a small appeteaser and dessert that were phenomenal! And the desserts... Seasonal and delicious! To say we are beyond stuffed would be an understatement! On to of the amazing service, this is a restaurant that pays its staff a living wage, front and back of house. They will definitely be getting more of my support!
Loved everything!! Service was excellent and food was beyond delicious.
Wonderful staff, delicious and beautiful presentation of food. Great cocktails. Perfect social distancing in all areas of the restaurant.
Koan is doing a fantastic job on keeping their customers safe during this period. All staffs are super friendly and accommodate our need.
Food wise, I think there is hit and miss. The sushi is very nice. We order pork chop and pho, and, unfortunately, these two main dishes don't meet my standard. The issue is not about the ingredient quality, but the seasoning. For pork chop, the taste of the sauce is way too strong, so we cannot finish the pork chop. The pickled mustard come with the pork chop is also sweet-ish, so the flavor is not very balance. For the pho, the broth is not hot enough. I do understand it may be doing this for preventing the beef to be overcooked, but the temperature of the broth is way too low to even soften the herb come with the dish.
This is an excellent addition and replacement for the departed An. A little pricy, and ambiance is obviously a bit bland during the pandemic. But the food was all really top-notch, and service was friendly and accommodating.
We were so impressed with the attention to detail in every plate, cleanliness of entire restaurant and service. My new fav restaurant! The four of us felt very comfortable and secure with the sanitation of the restsurant.
We had a great dinner at Koan. So glad they now serve Sushi, and it was amazing. The service and staff were super friendly. Will return soon.
