About this restaurant

Kizaki is Chef Toshi Kizaki’s long-awaited solo omakase restaurant, representing the pinnacle of his celebrated career and decades of influence in Denver’s culinary scene. After more than 40 years of success with Sushi Den, Chef Toshi returns to his roots with deep reverence for Edomae-style sushi—a 200-year-old Tokyo tradition that highlights the true character of each ingredient through precise Japanese techniques. Kizaki brings Denver its first authentic Edomae omakase, offering around 20 courses featuring raw, cured, seared, cooked, and dry-aged preparations. Guests can enjoy a full bar along with carefully selected sake, wine, or combined pairings to complement the experience. Omakase at the counter or table is $225 before tax. Drinks, additional sushi, and gratuity are not included. Reservation times are at 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Once all guests have arrived, we will transition to Kizaki, where the Omakase experience begins approximately 15 to 20 minutes after the scheduled time.

Finally, a true omakase experience in Denver. We've been to omakase restaurants across the US and in Japan, and Chef Kizaki and his team have done a fantastic job bringing a traditional Japanese menu and experience to life, while also balancing the influence of American flavors and cooking styles.

The food was excellent. I’ll highlight two significant issues that I hope ownership addresses as they get kinks out. First, we arrive at 7:45 for an 8 pm reservation. We didn’t get seated until 8:35 pm. That is a long time to be waiting. A complimentary drink or some better explanation than “the prior seatings is going over their time” would have been nice. Instead we were told to just keep waiting - 35 minutes delay is inexcusable (for an 8 pm reservation) and they should have their timing better. Second, I appreciate the cost of the experience for the high quality food. My wife and I added some extra pieces at the conclusion of the email. The uni price on the menu was clearly stated at $12. We order some extra pieces. When the bill comes, the server says, sorry but it was actually $18 a piece “as we had different uni today”. I didn’t want to object in front of other people. But it was quite insulting to have one thing in the menu and then charge AFTER we ate and got the bill. Again, if your prices are wrong - tell us before we order and eat. Not when you drop the bill.

Incredible experience for sushi lovers. It’s obvious that Kizaki is the culmination of chef Toshi Kizaki’s life work. Every detail of the intimate space and the entire experience of eating a 23-course omakase dinner prepared by a world-class sushi chef proves that point. Having only 8 seats in a space separated from chef by a small prep table staffed by Toshi and 3 othe chefs (one of whom mostly worked as a translator) made it impossible to not be fully immersed in the experience of the meal.

It was amazing! I really appreciated that it’s the traditional style omakase not some “fusion trendy” style. We’ll be back for sure!

We experienced a wonderful Japanese omekase dinner at Kizaki. The entire meal was orchestrated like a symphony of food with each piece of fish beautifully prepared. We have been to many sushi restaurants worldwide and Chef Toshi and his team have outdone themselves with Kizaki. I highly recommend this restaurant but book early.
