KAYO'S DINNER HOUSE WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1982 DURING THE LAST RECESSION, TO GIVE THE LOCALS IN BEND AN AFFORDABLE PLACE TO GATHER FOR DINNER AND DRINKS. SPECIALIZING IN FRESH SEAFOOD AND OTHER NORTHWEST PRODUCTS COOKED FRESH DAILY AND SERVED IN A WARM, CASUAL ATMOSPHERE BY THE FRIENDLIEST STAFF IN TOWN. IN 2004, KAYO'S LOST THEIR LEASE AND MOVED ACROSS TOWN AND OPENED KAYO'S ROADHOUSE, A FAMILY STYLE RESTAURANT. MANY PEOPLE HAVE LONG SINCE MISSED THE FINE DINING AND FRIENDLY SERVICE OF KAYO'S DINNER HOUSE. WELL, ANOTHER RECESSION IS UPON US AND MANY PEOPLE CANNOT AFFORD THE EXPENSIVE PRICES FOR FINE DINING IN BEND. I HAVE DECIDED TO REOPEN THE ORIGINAL KAYO'S DINNER HOUSE AS IT WAS, WITH GREAT FOOD AND WONDERFUL HOSPITALITY. Date of visit: 04-12-19 First the positives: the staff was attentive and they were able to bring out the food in a matter of just minutes; they provided a complimentary slice of dessert for a birthday celebration I noted on the reservation. Now the improvements: all the food including the soup ramen was lukewarm ; the food quality was poor for the price; the picture tables have this white napkin laid on top of the black table cloth which I didn’t quite get. I’m thinking it’s a way to not replace the black table cloth every time.

Everything was excellent. I rated the noise level a little high only due to loud folks seated in close proximity (not the fault of the restaurant). Pricing is high for my budget, but at least every bite was delicious, and made with excellent ingredients. On future visits, we will only have cocktails in the Happy Hour bar, as Dining Room pricing for cocktails is exhorbitant.

The bartender couldn't make a decent drink if he tried. The food was cold and for 45 dollars a steak I expected much better. The only good they was our waiter james. He was very kind. We dropped over 200 dollars for 4 people and we will NEVER go back.

Dinner was excellent as was the service. It was a little loud but not surprizing on a Friday night. The birthday icecream and brownie was a nice touch, thanks. we will definitely come again.

First issue: Noise. The table staff held a short greeting meeting next to our table, twice, which was loud and annoying. Both times didn't last long, but nevertheless inconsiderate. Secondly, Food: My wife enjoyed her scallop dinner. I ordered from the "Fresh Today" specials, King Crab Legs for $49. Disappointed with undercooked, soggy texture. Also, ordered just the asparagus and was served asparagus and brutal sprouts. Waitress didn't know the difference between an IPA and a NWPA.

An excellent evening out.Fried Razor Clams done to perfection Tender , tasty and good size portion of razor clams. beautifully presented. Service was prompt and professional. Ambiance was welcoming and quiet. Always one of top choices when we want a top evening out.

It took a very long time to get very mediocre food, but at least it was expensive! They are good about filling water and drinks. You get about 6 glasses of water before your food arrives. I feel like I could have gone to Shari’s for the same quality of food.
