In 1998, Buddy Guindon, his wife Katie, and his brother Kenny opened Katie's Seafood Market in Galveston, Texas. For more than 20 years now, Katie's Seafood Market has provided the highest quality of products available to its customers. The majority of seafood comes from local fishermen and shrimpers, including Red Snapper, Grouper, Golden Tile Fish, Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. A producer contacted Guindon in the hopes of doing a reality show about his family business. In 2015, the reality show 'Big Fish Texas' came to life on National Geographic. As a supporter of the local economy, In September of 2019, Buddy opened Katie’s Seafood House, next to the market. Katie’s seafood market supplies the restaurant with all fresh seafood. We take pride in being the only local seafood restaurant on the island that brings fresh fish straight from the boat and to your table.

    Everything was wonderful! Can’t wait to go back. We had the gumbo, crab bisque, both types of raw oysters, redfish sandwich and fried shrimp. There were 6 of us.

    Food was pretty good. The drinks were small and not good. However they were expensive. Overall our experience was ok. We will be trying a different restaurant next time.

    If you've never had fresh fish; it is a life altering experience. Katie's fish comes straight from the boats, prepared, and to your table. Treat yourself to Fried Green Tomatoes while you're at it

    As always when I go here, 4-5 “hostesses” at stand .. all seemed confused.. rude and act like the customers are raining on their parade. Alexandria was literally twisting her hair as she rudely told me that my RESERVED table was not ready.. ok busy day but customer service is NONEXISTENT. Now our server was nice and tried very hard but failed as our toddler had to wait 47 minutes for a grilled cheese. Did not do well with that. Used to bring friends and family here because of the food and location but we will be looking for a new place after one too many times having been treated as an inconvenience.

    Always good seafood at Katie's. Fresh fish and awesome gumbo with a crab claw sticking out of the bowl. One of the best places on the Island.

    Food was excellent, service was warming and inviting. The only issue was the noise as it is was a Friday night and a full house. Otherwise, we had a great time and the red snapper was cooked via chef’s recommendation to perfection! The fish tacos were also excellent. Definitely recommend!

    Quickly seated which was a bonus the night before Thanksgiving. Raw oysters and Rockefeller both great with nice selection of draft beer. Only complaint was restaurant about 3/4 full and really loud. Other than that, we’ll keep coming back!

    Nice place. Sat inside which was a bit loud. We got a sizzling grouper and shrimp “fajita” special - which was really high priced and I am kinda feeling taken advantage of since they did not tell us the special prices when we ordered. Only had 3 tortillas and rice and beans was not hot. My bad for not asking about the price. But $57 seems very high for one lunch entree. Was decent enough but not a good value.

    A wonderful setting for our family get together. The weather was pleasant so we sat outside. Our server, Sara, was very attentive. I definitely recommend.

    Outstanding dishes for all four of us. Service not so much. The very hospitable Busman got us our serving utensils, napkins for drinks etc. had to ask waitress 3x for water. Hope she was new or just having a bad day.

    Great fish! I would recommend the Galveston style. I also have celiac and was able to eat plenty of items on the menu. We sat outside by the water (inside is loud) and it was beautiful. They had heat lamps for us.

    Katies is a great place to eat. Our server, Monica , was a delight! And the barrel fish with penne pasta was incredibly good. Everything we ate tasted great!

    We have been vacationing in Galveston for years. This is hands down the best restaurant we’ve been to. The seafood is so fresh! The service was outstanding! I highly recommend it!

    Service was very prompt although at one point we felt like server was rushing us through our meal. Food was good. Fried oysters were over cooked - good thing the tartar sauce was amazing. I feel like a fried oyster platter for $28 with product so close to the source, it should have been better. Our fave seafood place in NW Houston is less expensive and better quality. Suggestion if you’re (semi)local: buy fresh from their market next door and take home for a better meal.

    Paula was our server… she was great. The grilled platter was outstanding - and enough for 2 (we are in our 60s). Overall, the experience was excellent. We will go back.

    I had heard really good things about this place. We ordered the garlic bread and cornbread as an appetizer. The garlic bread was nothing I would order again and the cornbread was not good. We then ordered the grouper with shrimp and lump crab meat with a side of macaroni with crab. My husband and I shared this meal, thinking it would be alot of food for the price of $57. It was about 6 oz of grouper with 4 shrimp and a bit of crab meat on top of the grouper. Not a lot of food for 2 people. It was good, but not worth the price. The macaroni was not good and definitely not worth the $14 price tag. We had 10 people and our bill was over $300 with all of us sharing meals. Oh, and the noise level is very high! The service was excellent but we definitely will not be back.

    Great experience! It was our first time at this restaurant and we enjoyed every minute of it! Our waiter was Joe Ray and he did not disappoint! He knew his food and we loved his recommendations. From drinks to appetizers to the entrees to desserts. Everything was delicious. We finished off with coffee and he brought us a French press and poured it fresh for us (we even bought a bag to bring home lol). We dined outdoors and it was the perfect ambiance with the cooler weather and we watched as the ships passed by.

    Great night out at Katie’s. Service is really good, attentive and staff is really knowledgeable. Food is excellent and a lot of it. This is a top spot on the island for seafood.

    Delicious drinks! Beautiful crab cake & amberjack board. The Caribbean Sunrise Salad was impressive and so flavorful! I loved the spice to it. Seafood broil was smaller than we anticipated with lots of rice and overcooked fish. Awesome outdoor seating atmosphere and I’m excited to eat here again!

    It’s is such a wonderful treat every time we come. My husband and I bring new people with us as often as we can so that they can experience the great service and exceptional food! Vernon was a great server. Joey (manager) always goes above and beyond each time we visit! He is absolutely amazing!
