Absolutely love it here. I come 2-5 times a month and enjoy the vibe, hostess, bar tenders with the great memory and more. I call it my home away from home.
Fantastic! Waiter was great, service was amazing. Thanks for everything!
This was our 4th or 5th trip to Katana, and the first one that went horribly. We made reservations for a date night early Saturday morning for 10:30pm. We arrived at 10:15 knowing we were early and would have to wait. We spoke with the hostess and she told us it would be a 15 min wait, awesome we'll get a drink at the bar while we wait.
We got a drink from the AWESOME bartenders, who were very attentive and energetic. 10:30 comes around and I ask the hostess if we are almost ready, she tells me the party just paid and they are leaving. Okay we are waiting at the bar. 10:45 comes around, and nothing yet. My girl asks the manager what's going on, he mumbled something (it was very loud) and what we would make out is "we are very busy" and he walked away. No apology, no checking with the hostess. 11pm comes around my last goes to the hostess to see what's going on and she said it's just another minute and they will sit us. 11:10pm comes and we finally get seated.
At our table the server comes and we order our drinks. He comes back and brings us them and takes our order. So far so good. It took about 20 minutes and we get 2 of our orders. We finish that and realize we are missing one. So we ask a manager walking by who sends us or server who was confused that we didn't get our last entre. Mind you, it was fresh sushi (Tuna Carpaci *spelling*). Another 15 minutes and he brings it out. We finish and he comes by and asks if we want anything else. My last orders the Mochi ice cream. It takes 20 minutes for us to get an order of Ice Cream, seriously??
We finish then the server brings us the check. when reviewing we noticed and entre that we never orderwd was being billed to us. We flagged down the server and he looked confused/upset when we told him. He fixed it and dropped the check and walked off. We had to flag the other manager down to have him take our card to pay. He was also in a bad mood.
The server was terrible. We waited 40 minutes past our reservation.
Was very unhappy that when I made my reservation, with 7 of us and had people from out of town , was not informed that, what they claim the whole patio was reserved, and was seated inside in not to our liking table not that they cared. You guys are way overcome rated will not be coming there again and I was a frequent. It’s time for new restaurant to take over this location. You guys are old news. Bye!!!!
I requested a patio table and they said patio was closed for private party but the party was only for half.. when I asked again she stated they only had inside which was not the truth as I saw them seating other tables there that were not part of the table.
When they took us to the table it was in the very corner next to a work station where they stored plates and such and the air was blasting. So the table ambiance was terrible. Especially when we go there and spent $500 a meal.
Alex is always amazing and the ambience is always great!!!
The food was decent for an “upscale” dining experience. Ambience was fun and hip with a good selection in music. Took 30 minutes to seat us with a reservation after the hostess asked me three times... inside or outside? Drinks took forever... food took forever. Price was ok for the type of style they’re going for. Sushi menu was good but nothing different from cho cho San. Ordered seafood ceviche which was good. Spicy tuna rice was almost the same one from gyu kaku. And the lobster shrimp scallop with mash potatoes as my entree. Overall good experience, as the servers continued to try to make up for all the wait. Multiple times, it was mentioned that this was a slow night because of Coachella. I’d hate to imagine the service on a busy night then if it was as bad as it was on a slow night. Would I come here again? ... yes. In the near future... no. For the price, quality, and service ... I guess they had it right.... I can definitely wait it out.
Went here for my birthday! The food selection was alright. Nothing out of this world. The actual food tasted ok. I've had better. The ambiance was alright. It wasn't what I was expecting. Won't be returning. No reason to!
What a great dinner! Food was delicious, atmosphere festive for our birthday dinner. Loved the patio seating. Lauren, our server, was knowledgeable and friendly. Peter, the manager delivered over-the-top customer service for our guest of honor. Katana is great place to dine and party!
Food was pretty bad, average and some plates had no taste .
First time ever, and we can't wait to return. First of all, all employees who we encountered were so friendly, polite and full of cheer. That setup our impression of the restaurant. We ordered the sea bass skewers and they were so delicious. We went from Toro sashimi, to lobster rolls, and who can forget the Ceviche. We had other plates, but in conclusion every thing we ate was fresh, tasty, and satisfactory to our taste buds.
Amazing. Would come back.
Love the patio seating and live Dj. The cuisine is excellent for sharing loved it all. MY WAITER WAS AMAZING THANK YOU!
Everyone was great! Hostesses accommodated us on last minute late arrivals! Was a lovely evening and our waitress was awesome
Overpriced and less than average food. Service was very good.
We waited 2 hours for our table to be ready. The food was decent. Atmosphere isn’t nice at all
Big call: but this is the best Japanese restaurant in W Hollywood. Beats all the big name local competition hands down.
I booked a reservation for my birthday dinner and was able to accommodate one more person when I called. When I got to the location I was welcomed by a music and a DJ outside. It was a lot of people inside and out which loved. We had to wait a little because some of my party didn’t arrive on time but once more than half arrived we still weren’t seated until about 20 minutes later (reservation was for 1030 and weren’t sat until 11pm) but I was ok with where we sat which was outside looking at the sunset strip. My server Mitch was great! I enjoyed him so much. Overall I enjoyed the experience. The food was good but I felt like it was a tease for how little the give you. But Mitch did explain what was smaller portions and not. I do plan on going back again.
Wonderful service and food
Horiable experiance, very slow in service no care in the world. And with a reservation I had to wait another 20-30 minutes
Food and drink took a long time to be delivered to table
Amazing great food and waitress!
Excellent food and great service. The ambiance is nice so I guess that's why it's a little pricey for what you get.
My husband and I went for his birthday - we loved it !!! My husband is really picky when it comes to food, but after dinner, he couldn’t stop talking about the popcorn shrimp with the miso glaze!!!
Great Service and even better food. No way I’m not coming back and VERY SOON.
Amazing place!Good music, night people and tasty food 👍
Great place. Food was really good and worth the money. Will definitely be back soon.
The girls were so cute & so nice & the food was delicious! Also the manager was a gentleman!
Best sushi and environment in Los Angeles
Still one of my favorites. Always the best time here on the patio with many Lychee Martinis.
One of the best places to eat in LA. Excellent all around....
Our server was so kind and accommodating. My friend was sick with a cold and he brought her tea. Wonderful atmosphere and as usual lovely food.
Absolute Favorite In Los Angeles.
Keep Up The Great Work!
Nice I really liked it
Katana roll was amazing
Our server, Amanda helped make the evening special. Katana is my favorite Sushi restaurant
Music was a bit too loud for conversation. Service and food was great otherwise! Lauren was awesome
Food and drinks not taste good
It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Katana, everything was better than I remembered. My husband and I celebrated my birthday there. We got the sampler meal that cost $65 for each of us. It came with some of the best items menu. We had sushi, the scallops were amazing and the crab fried rice (we ordered in addition to our meal) is a must try!! My husband, who is not a foodie really enjoyed his food like I try to all the time lol. I definitely won’t wait until a special occasion to enjoy this place again. And to top of off, I received a complimentary chocolate molten cake that was super decadent! Yum!
The food, cocktails, and atmosphere were all amazing! However, we came on a Saturday night and they were extremely busy. Because of that, it was hard to get much time with the wait staff for recommendations/orders and we weren't able to order extra drinks that we wanted to given the time limit of seating. Regardless of this, I would still go back and give this place one more try because the food and drinks really were that good.
