What Insiders Are Saying
Juniper is a fancy-ish Italian spot in East Austin that's good for dinner with the parents or a grown-up brunch.
Zack Knight and Michael Z , the valet attendant who escorted us to the host desk, plus the two hostess were superb! Was pleasantly surprised with the meal and the service! Thank you for just making it a great night. Will be back 1000%
I've been wanting to try Juniper for quite a while and finally we were able to get a table. It was definitely worth the wait. The food was fantastic, order the puffy potatoes, service was great and we could actually hear each other talk. I would recommend it for a special night out. Enjoy!
We were there with our 5 year old son. He loved the meatballs. Our meals were spectacular too. The mushrooms in my risotto had a wonderful taste. My husband who is French and is hard to please, loved his meal too.
Set at counter, served by Mark -- Cocktails and food were really good. Mark's service was spot on.
Great service! Great food!
Everything was amazing! I’m vegan and they were able to accommodate me with no issue whatsoever. And my meal was delicious! Loved everything from cocktails to dessert!
The food was horrible which was really disappointing. The meatballs were actually chicken meatballs which is fine but the menu never said they were made out of chicken. The sweet potato gnocchi wasn’t good either, I didn’t even taste sweet potato and the kale pesto sauce it was in wasn’t good, the flavors just didn’t go. The Brussels sprouts were a big soggy with texture too.
2nd time dining at Juniper... it's one of my faves now!
Good food and great counter experience for foodies! Chefs Zak, Elliott, and Alex were wonderful. The tasting menu is definitely worth the $65.00. The fish course was my favorite. And I loved the risotto-like stuffed truffle.
The evening’s disappointment was not meeting Executive Chef Amanda Turner, a remarkable young woman, as expected. Manager Zach hopes to remedy that on the next visit.
Amazing pasta and outstanding service! The atmosphere was cozy and modern and the drinks were unique and delicious.
Outstanding food, very evocative of our trips to northern Italy. The appetizers we had were a nice portion, and perfectly set up the first course, where the pappardelle really shined. My second course was the osso bucco, which is one of my favorite dishes, and Juniper did not disappoint. We were too full for dessert, so we'll have to go back to try that. Great cocktails too. I loved my negroni. And since we were there celebrating, they even put a little box together of a few food items (dry pasta, biscotti, a dry rub, and a souvenir menu signed by the staff) to help us celebrate. Really nice touch. Five star experience.
always agreat experience. Genius of Love drink, and Cacio e Pepe were the hilights. I wanna go back all the time.
Loved it. Perfect for an impressive client dinner. Been there for date night too.
Only thing I would look to improve is portion sizes in general and my shrimp pasta plate was a bit on the cool side.
Entree- porcetta 50% fat
Over priced for quality.
Very kind and attentive service. Their suggestions were very helpful. Got to sit at the counter and watch the staff work. They were extremely talented. Everything was homemade and incredible. Highly recommend!
Juniper is a great go-to restaurant for date night. They have a nice outdoor seating area with fans when its comfortable out. The food is pretty good, Italian inspired, with a large pasta section and some meat and fish entrees.
We had a wonderful experience sitting outside. The food was delicious. The service excellent. I highly recommend it.
Absolutely fabulous. The food is SO delicious, but what makes this place one of our favorites is the overall experience. The service is impeccable- friendly, efficient and eager to make your night the best. Every single dish was unique, delicious and just the right size. We’ll be making this a regular for sure
I would recommend it for grabbing a cocktail and a bite to eat at the bar. Not for a full blown dinner.
The ambiance is very nice. But unfortunately, that was the best part of the evening. The food was interesting, but not yummy. We had the puffed potatoes, which some in my party thought were delicious, but I thought they were so-so.
The meat cheese anti pasta, again, very unremarkable. I ordered the sweet potato gnocchi which was good, and memorable, but nothing I would crave or need to go back for. There were six in my party. We all said the same thing...very unmemorable. Also, the service, though friendly, was inattentive. Honestly, I wouldn't even recommend trying it. It's expensive, small portions and blahish food. Too bad. Wish I could say something better.
We could not eat the food
The tasting menu was amazing. Will definitely return.
Food and ambiance were great, but server was almost non existent, didn’t describe or recommend anything on the menu. The most we saw her was when she was securing payment.
The food and atmosphere here is wonderful!
The appetizers and main courses were excellent. I had the cacio e pepe, a simple dish which is often made with extraneous ingredients. This one was was prepared perfectly. The server was attentive and had good recommendations for the appetizers and the wine. The only real downside was that I thought the wine was overpriced.
We were a large party and we were rushed out of our table in the rudest manner imaginable even after spending a large amount of money.
Whenever we are in Austin Juniper is our go to place. Counter service is the way to experience this place. You get to be witness to all the amazing dishes coming together. We had a front seat to Josh’s talents in the kitchen putting together various appetizers and desserts. His charm was evident and knowledge of all the dishes made the night fun. Love this place. The kitchen team works so very hard to ensure we all get an amazing dining experience.
We feel the food was just ok, not really what we expected; it was not worth the high prices they charge for entries or a glass of wine. (not even 6 ounces). In our opinion, the establishment is charging for the idea of fine cuisine when is not. If looking for a romantic dinner, this place is probably too loud and crowded.
The only thing that was an issue to us was the food was really salty across almost all of the dishes we ordered. However, the service was wonderful!
Outstanding eats and drinks all around. Huge huge fan of their cacio e pepe. Really wish I'd gotten the large order to have some to take home. The cocktails were delicious and creative. Everyone I talked to there was incredibly friendly and helpful. I am very thankful to the coworker who recommended I give this place a try!
High quality, flavorful Northern Italian. Relatively quiet for the size and number of diners.
The chicken liver pâté was amazing! I had the mushroom risotto which was pretty salty, almost inedible. A couple of the other dishes we had were good but could’ve used a little more flavor touches to them. Overall experience was still pretty good.
We made a reservation for Juniper on OpenTable , for an outside table. We didn't realize that it would end up being on a night that was very cold. However, the waitstaff was extremely gracious, and managed to find us a table inside - this was definitely appreciated!
The service was excellent - besides the aforementioned last minute table switch, our waitress was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The cocktails we had were fantastic. The food was quite good, with some spots of excellence - we really enjoyed some of the more creative touches on the dishes. The chicken liver mousse in particular was very good.
Nice vibe and yummy food. Great for a special occasion.
So damn good!!! My fiancé and I are both in the industry so it’s a real treat when we can go out to eat. Juniper was amazing!
I went there for my 7th wedding anniversary the food was good but not outstanding we went to another place for our 6th anniversary and that place was much better and for the same price, I think this restaurant is beautiful but in a restaurant what really matters is the taste of the food and the only thing that I liked were the oysters besides that nothing and the worse thing is that it supposed to be the best because we order the Valentine's menu (tasting menu) I will never come back
Incredible food, awesome waitress, solid wine selection with knowledgeable staff. Really great overall experience. Only issue was we were outside and traffic noise at the start of dinner was a little distracting. However, that was my gault for making reservations on valentines too late. Credit to Junipers for finding room for us.
We will absolutely go back again and again....even if we have to sit outside!!!!
All I can really say is ehhhh....
Food was okay, and I appreciate them pacing the dinner, but just ended up taking forever.
What a great experience! We came for our anniversary and were welcomed with a “happy anniversary” and a specially printed menu. The staff made accommodations due to an issue with the outside seating. Our waiter, Austin, was friendly and helpful with suggestions. The staff were all attentive and friendly. Most of all - the food was so good. Everything that came out was delicious. Will definitely return soon.
