Jeune et Jolie
A Modern French Restaurant dedicated to celebrating the idea of a transportive dining experience, we are inspired by the unpretentious sophistication characteristic of modern French cuisine and a culture of genuine hospitality.
It is a shame to have good food without good dinner.
The noise level is unbearable. The restaurant have a loud music with high base. It is very unhealthy to sit in the restaurant for couple hours with high base level.
We were sitting next to the open kitchen. It was not the problem of open kitchen. It was the problem of the chef or kitchen captain kept giving order with yelling at the crew.
Loud music and noise from the kitchen. My partner needed to put in ear plugs.
We had dinner finished without any conversation.
Might be asking for outdoor sitting and hope for no screaming customers sit next to you, will help to have better quiet donner.
We travelled to france many times and ate in many bistro. all are quiet and pleasant. There is no reason to establish french bistro in such noisy atmosphere as American bar and grill restaurants.
Best restaurant in San Diego, by far! This is an exquisite gem of a restaurant, with world class cuisine showcasing ingredients, compositions and techniques that will blow your mind; an adorable and fun, yet elegant decor and a playlist to swoon over! They deserve at least one star from Guide Michelin.
By far the best restaurant I have been to in 13 years of living in california.
First the space is so refined and intimate.
The food, you can taste fully every single ingredient in your dish and nothing is over whelming or plain, just the perfect amount of finesse .
We were received with a complimentary glass of champagne for our anniversary; nice touch. Our server Patrick explained in detail the ingredients of the various dishes we asked about and checked back with us regularly; well done. My wife whose passion is cooking rated the scallops as “tops” - best she has had in 30 years of eating out. The fancy beef featured was flavorful, beautifully presented, but a bit chewy; apparently it is a cut near the shoulder. Sauces on both main courses were delicious, but had to ask for bread to soak them up; the hostess comped us with a freshly baked french roll and butter, which is listed as a separate a la carte item (?); again, nice touch. Only shortcoming which was relayed to the chef was the escargot under a pastry shell dome; tasty pastry but the tiniest snails ever. Extensive list of by-the-glass wine choices also a plus. Overall, a very nice experience.
Amazing experience! Definitely in our top 5 in San Diego!
Excellent. One of the best restaurants in San Diego. Service is also very good and very friendly.
What an amazing dinner! Great service and delicious food! We loved it and will definitely return.
Lively, creative and friendly spot! We enjoyed every bite and the service was impeccable.
Thanks to the entire team for making my birthday dinner truly memorable :)
The food is always spectacular, as is the service. We have zero complaints about those things, which are the most important. The only complaint is the music. I think it is supposed to be some sort of French rap or French jazz but it gets really annoying and its hard to talk over. A very small criticism in an otherwise fantastic evening of food and delightful service.
We had heard only good things, but sadly were not impressed at all. The atmosphere was extremely cute, that was the best part! The food was clearly thought through and a lot of effort went into the menu, we just did not really enjoy anything we ate. It seemed as though a lot of the focus was on adding foams, creams, emulsions, etc.... which I am fine with, but the quality was not quite high enough for SO many different things to be added onto each dish. The service was also EXTREMELY slow. I found it comical that they state that a table for 2 has a 90 minute allotment at the table, when it took the restaurant over 20 minutes to bring out each course... and you are expected to order 4-6 courses. Very sad to have been disappointed. We love Campfire and were expecting good things from this sister restaurant.
Service was impeccable,; Derrick and the crew were attentive and sensitive in all ways!
Food was so flavorful and creative in taste and presentation.
This place is a unique gem in San Diego and we are so lucky to have it up in North County on a quiet little street off the beaten track!
We sat outside and the overhead heater made it very comfortable!
A special occasion place- worth every penny!
This was such an amazing culinary experience. We did the chef’s menu and every course was better than the last. The flavors exploded! Regardless of what you order, definitely order the bread to soak up any sauces! You definitely won’t want to leave a single drop on your plate!
very helpful and pleasant staff which could direct me on the menu choices. We went for brunch with a rather limited menu but that's fine with me. Overall, it had a very feminine feel about the place- colors, styling and seemed perfect for a girl's night out or a get-together. My wife loved the place and will go back again-probably with her friends.
Outstanding in every way!
We read all the great reviews and it lived up to them. Delicious, imaginative good prepared with quality ingredients and beautifully presented. Great service and a fun atmosphere. A bit pricey, but great for a special night out. We will definitely return.
Always fabulous. . .it has never failed to disappoint.
The best of excellent service & creative dining options.
Nice restaurant. Wasn’t the French Bistro I expected but it all worked out.
My hubby and I had our first date night after the birth of our twins at Jeune et Jolie and it did NOT disappoint. We chose to do the 8 course tasting menu with the wine pairing. The food was incredibly good. I was savoring every bite! I did get a little too tipsy though since I hadn’t really had any alcohol in quite a long time! Will absolutely be back to try brunch and for another dinner!
There are plenty of options to choose from and we went all out. Cocktails, a dozen oysters, un-deau-trois, coffee and dessert. We were there to celebrate a birthday and it was romantic and amazing. The food had complex and depth of flavors we throughly enjoyed. The staff was friendly, helpful, sweet and fast. We enjoyed everything our dining experience here.
Jeune et Jolie is my absolute favorite restaurant I've ever been ! Amazing decor & creative delicious food. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere ! A complete work of art
I was with my parents, who don't usually go out to restaurants like this, and was afraid they'd be intimidated by the menu. But our waiter (with a great mustache btw) was amicable and funny, and took the time to explain everything on the menu in a non-pretentious manner, while giving us insight to the dishes (how each ingredient and flavor contributes to the overall dining experience, to the techniques required to achieve certain textures, etc). He was knowledgeable about cooking and his passion was contagious.
The atmosphere enhanced the experience. The layout of the bar, the decor, the staff, music choice, lighting, tableware, everything. The open-kitchen set up made for a show. You're able to see the inner workings of a kitchen in real time. You can see the hands that prepare your food and the delicate care they dedicate to every dish. It connects the product to the process and makes you savor each bite that much more.
The food itself was incredible. It gave me a greater appreciation for food, and reminded me that, while it's a necessity that we tend to autopilot, dining can be just as enlightening of an experience as reading a good book or watching a great film.
Dining at Jeune et Jolie was unforgettable and I'll be sharing my enthusiasm for the experience for some time to come.
Sitting at the end of the horseshoe shaped bar watching drinks being made and looking beyond straight into the open kitchen at the talented, efficient cooks is an absolute pleasure. The food is exquisite and the service impeccable.
Hats off to this talented chef Andrew and his team. What a wonderful spontaneous dinner. Frog legs were beyond my expectations & the service!!! Don’t even know where to start. Our bartender was very educated on ingredients and food preparation & paired our food with exceptional cocktails. This has truly become our date night spot. Privileged to have been a campfire employee/part of the family! Honored to enjoy amazing food & unity with my loved ones.
This visit to "Jeune et Jolie" allowed four friends from San Clemente and Vista to enjoy the $35 three-course prix fixe dinner served only on Mondays and for entire parties. It included the best (savory, not sweet) pumpkin soup with nut-like, crispy shallots, a steelhead also perfectly cooked with crispy skin over a middlin' couscous, and a mille feuille on which the chef might go back to the drawing board. Our engaging server, Brent, drew our attention to the cocktail menu. Absinthe-infused drinks were available for only $6 each before 6 pm. Of course, we ran the bill up with wine, but overall the restaurant left us feeling both "young and beautiful, heureux et satisfait."
Lovely to look at, but limited brunch menu and a little pricey for food served and portion size. Tried it because of positive newspaper review and clever name
Amazing meal! From start to finish we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious. We did not feel rushed during service and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to come back.
Incredible food and impeccable service. One of my favorite restaurants in San Diego.
Experience was very nice. Food was good, service was good. After hearing the buzz and reading the reviews I think I expected a bit more in all aspects of the experience..... but would definitely recommend to others. One negative was the noise level. Our server had a very quiet voice and it was difficult for us to even hear her description of our options and the dishes themselves
This place is just fabulous! I went here about a year ago, close to the time they first opened, and I liked it and was eager to return. Brunch menu is limited, but the cocktail menu abounds with creativity! Employes are all friendly and happy to be working at such a showcase.
Came for brunch so can’t speak to the dinner menu, which I hear is the main appeal. Brunch was good, albeit in small portions. We had the eggs on toast — more like a single muffin cut in half — with smoked salmon, coffee, and mimosas. The decor was a little too Instagram-y/over the top for my taste. One may appreciate the attempted tribute to France, but the fact that none of the staff is French (including the chef and owner) or speaks French (thus butchering pronunciations altogether) feels a bit pretentious. The menu items are single French words (“Tartine” = toast; “Lapin” = rabbit etc.) that would never be used on their own to describe actual French dishes. As a native French person I was a little annoyed. Service was impeccable and the food was good nonetheless. Brunch was about $90 (with tip) for two, which could legitimately be deemed overpriced.
Everything was just wonderful. My favorite brunch in north county by far. Great ambience for meeting with friends, gorgeous decor, and impeccable service. Me own woe is they charged me $16 for a 10 oz bloody merry. Nothing special at all. No amazing garnishes or anything. Was very disappointed in that. They also charged me $15 for a vodka soda water with mint. Very overpriced drinks. Stick to wine event though they have a small selection.
This was my third time dining at Jeune et Jolie and I was not very pleased with our experience from the start. We had a 7:30pm reservation and when we arrived a couple minutes after 7:30, the host had informed us that the previous reservation was running a bit behind and were still waiting on their desserts. The hosts had said that they do not allow double standing at the bar on the weekends and told us we had to go to Campfire to wait or walk around until our table was ready. I had told them that we had just come from Carruth Wine Cellars next to Campfire before dinner and that we rushed to finish our wine to make it to our reservation only to be told that our table wasn’t ready and we had to go back where we just were to wait. I received a call that our table was getting reset and that we could head back over. We did not get sat until 8:20pm and were starving. There was no acknowledgment from the host, server, or even a manager that we were seated 50 min behind our reservation. Aside from all of that, dinner was delicious and our server Jess was great. Working in the industry, I was a bit disappointed that there was no recovery taken and the lack of attention due to the huge delay in seating. I expected more from the restaurant and left with a bad taste in my mouth because of our experience tonight. Not sure I would return in the future.
excellent menu with many great choices. the King Crab legs were fresh, sweet and delicious and good value as was the Jidori chicken. the baguette and butter were special. service was a little slow but a manager was very attentive and helped take our order. will return.
Just lovely - transported us both
Ate at bar ; both food and service was fantastic. One of SD’s best restaurant experiences.
I wish there was another star. Hands down the best restaurant in Carlsbad. Perfect date night. Feels like you are in the movie “Burnt”!!
Interesting modern French menu. Meant to be a DIY tasting menu. So everything is quite small. But the prices are quite high. That is why I rated the value as just good. It’s expensive to eat enough to make a full dinner. That said, each item was gorgeous and creative and delicious. I will definitely go back. But not often. I eat out a lot and spend a lot but this place will be reserved for special occasions. Its sister restaurant down the block, Campfire, is also pricey, but a much easier, less fussy place for creative and outstandingly delicious food.
Finally the server was not good. I didn’t get my drink for 35 minutes and had to remind them twice. They took it off the bill, but still.... Then, at the end she asked if we want dessert and we said yes. She brought the menus but never came back. When we saw her next, she appeared with our check, which we had not asked for, and said thanks for coming. So no dessert.
PS, I also didn’t get my drink the night before at Campfire and had to be comped. What is it with this company. They don’t want me to have drinks or dessert.
The staff is amazing and so friendly. But the Chef is unbelievable, he really cares about his food. You can see it and taste it. I highly recommend for foodies and people who enjoy a nice meal. The presentation of the food is beautiful.
Amazing food! Bigger portions would be lovely and less pressure from the wait staff on ordering according to their program.
