This is the best tasting menu experience in North County, without a doubt.
I really do think that this restaurant deserves a Michelin star. The only drawback of a recent meal was that the vegetarian replacement for the meat course was, again, a faro dish that was only okay, not great. The fish replacement was a successful cauliflower preparation.
Nevertheless, the other courses, including all the meat courses for the omnivores in our group, were excellent. The dessert was brilliant. Overall, certainly worth the price.
Chef Bost, please consider expanding the vegetarian options. FYI, our vegetarian's favorite meat course "replacement" is a Thomas Keller chop at his Ad Hoc restaurant. Charlie Trotter, in his day, was wonderful in that regard. On the other hand, you clearly have the talent to create your own successful approach.
This was our third visit. The staff was friendly, food was good with the exception of the egg. There was a LONG delay between the fish and the quail. I believe there may have been a problem in the kitchen. If someone had told us and perhaps offered a glass of wine we may not have left so disgruntled. We were comped on the wine. We appreciated that very much. It is usually a nice experience as evidenced by the full house.
Really top notch cuisine BUT they did forget it was my friends 50th birthday - no cake with a candle which made me sad :(

Food was great. Couple misses with the service--they brought something we didn't order, which pushed the next course out about 30 minutes--but nothing major. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a delicious, fun night under the lights! They've done a great job converting their outdoor space.

The last time we dined here was the day before California went on lockdown in March, so we were rather excited to return to Jeune et Jolie post-lockdown. And also wondering how the outdoor safe dining experience would be. We weren't disappointed! The parking lot has been transformed into a lovely outdoor space surrounded by and covered by trees. Sure, the menu is slimmer, but still lovely and we enjoyed the courses and the wines. It continues to be our favorite restaurant in the SD area!

This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had! Their five course tasting was truly a feast for my eyes and my stomach. All five courses were exceptional. Plus, their outdoor patio is beautifully done with mature trees, lights twinkling overhead, enough heaters to keep you comfortable, and wonderful jazzy French music in the background. Also, the service was excellent . Jeune et Jolie is truly a first class dining experience without being pretentious or stuffy!

We did the 5 course plated experience and each dish was a bite of joy. Even our "least favorite" dish would have thrilled us at any other restaurant!!

Service was quite good. Pleasant and attentive. Fairly knowledgeable. Wine list was a bit constrained though. Food was very good. Well executed. Perhaps slightly one dimensional but nevertheless see great things happening on the plate here. Can’t wait to watch this team evolve and push boundaries of San Diego dining scene.

We enjoyed the Starry Night five course tasting menu in their outdoor dining patio area. Starting with Hamachi Raddish, then Egg Matsutake, Halibut Swiss Chard, Quail Edive, Apple Brown Butter Honey Lavender with the wine pairing and a couple extra complimentary toss ins that made the experience truly exceptional. Each menu selection was delicious with perfect wine pairings for each course.
During these difficult COVID lock down times, the dining experience at Jeune et Jolie was even more memorable and special.
First visit: Friendly staff. Good spacing of tables. Lots of up selling on appys, truffles added to an egg dish that if it needed truffles it should have been part of the dish, frog legs, etc. That was annoying. They did add several extra ‘courses’ ie a piece of warm bread ( no bread otherwise). A demitasse cup of soup and a second desert which was better than the included one. Another non highlight was how they treated the birthday person- they essentially did nothing- putting a candle on the plate of the same desert as the other eaters were getting. Bad move there. Now about the courses in general. There were some excellent ones, the egg course you have to experience, amazing. The halibut perfectly cooked,nice. Nothing else really stands out. Did try the extra cost frog legs, interesting but could have lived without. Also the drink were good but no surprise way over priced. Lastly the wine pairings- blah at best. Overall you get a lot of food. Mostly good but not much outstanding. Would I return. Not likely for the fixed menu perhaps when the place gets back to normal. Bon apetit!
Each course was excellent and beautiful. The service was absolutely wonderful! It was a lovely celebratory evening!
The salmon and lamb was cold, service was slow, drink portions were small, and food overvalued and not that flavorful. Best thing was the halibut. My wife and I were disappointed after spending over $350 for dinner.
What an evening! We had the pleasure of dining at this amazing restaurant last night and we were blown away with the culinary experience. We have had the pleasure to dine at the French Laundry but Jeune et Jolie in our opinion was their equal at almost 1/4 the price. While the theatrics do not align with Alinea, the Chicago iconic restaurant, the food presentations, textures and tastes rival the creations of Grant Achatz. The menu changes bi-monthly so you may not get to savor the same items we enjoyed, but the techniques and flavors exhibited will transcend virtually any food item.
We opted for the wine pairing addition at $50 per person for 5 wines and each selection matched impeccably with the food. We were so taken with some of the wines, we are headed to Total Wines in search of these gems.
We live 50 miles away but have decided on at least an every other month trek to Carlsbad to satisfy our culinary cravings.

If you want an over the top gourmet french dinner in an amazing outdoor (for Covid) setting, this is the place to go. Fixed price tasting menu was almost too much food! The menu changes frequently depending on what is available fresh and local. We had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, but the pandemic messed that all up. But if you are ready for a 5 star experience outdoors, this is the place. Highly recommend this to anyone who wants a special meal in these trying times.
New chef is adding WAY more salt than before. It almost every dish, and it just doesn't need it. 😭

My husband and I had a wonderful evening “under the stars” at Jeune et Jolie. The decor is extremely charming and our waiter was knowledgeable, making excellent pairing recommendations. Dinner consisted of five courses, 3 of the 5 were outstanding and the other two were very good, however I’m being picky due to the price point. We managed to try almost every specialty cocktail on the menu and honestly you can’t go wrong with any of them and all were perfectly balanced and unique. I would definitely recommend coming here for a special evening!
Wonderful. Best restaurant in San Diego. The food and service is impeccable. As someone who is rarely impressed with the food scene in San Diego, this is a world class food experience. So happy to finally have an exceptional restaurant here. This is my 4th time at Jeune et Jolie and every time is near perfection.
This dinner has to be in the top three of meals I've ever had in my life, and I've had very nice meals all over the world! We had the Starry Nights prix fixe menu, and every dish was exquisite, and the wine pairings were wonderful. The wait staff were attentive, friendly and informed, but not pretentious. Hats off to the chef!

Everything was quite good and unique. Definitely a gastronome experience as opposed to a relaxing evening under the stars experience. Glad to have experienced, will now look forward to a return to a slower paced evening where each diner opts for their preferred courses.
amuse bouche was good to very good; steak tartare was outstanding in multiple flavors and consistency, one of the best I have had in many years; the calamari was interesting; the monkfish (poor mans lobster) did not come together and I am not a monkfish fan, use lobster; the agneau was very tasty but the eggplant was not tasty. we did not stay for dessert because we had been there for almost 2 hours and the seats are very uncomfortable. the kitchen service was slower than it was 2 weeks ago. i would come to this restaurant at least once every 2 weeks, if not more often but only if food quality was better like king crab, lobster, dover, dungeness crab or other great sole and meats and charge more or if you need to stay under $100 eliminate a course and serve quicker.
We loved our evening at Jeune et Jolie! The service was kind and impeccible. We enjoyed the prix fixed 5 course meal. We left feeling pleasant....not full. We loved the additional oyster and muscles appetizer (especially the horseradish oyster). Our servers were lovely and we felt safe during the pandemic. Thank you to all. We highly recommend
This was our second visit. We ended up with the last table next to the parking lot. If this were my establishment I would forego that table and add some lattice to hide the view. The food was wonderful as before.
Truly an experience to eat at this restaurant. Everything here is perfection; from the ambiance and service to the incredible food :)
Our dinner under the stars was even better than anticipated; exquisite food, friendly ever ready service, and surprising little extras. My sister and I had read the reviews, and we were intrigued. But I was a bit skeptical, could it live up to such high expectations. It can, it was a delicious and memorable meal. A sublime prix fixe menu with tax and tip included was a great value at 95.00. I have already told my friends, and I can't wait to return myself.
Had to request to switch to a different table away from a boisterous group. After the switch, the ambiance was much better by the plants. Food was excellent, price reasonable, and service great. Really enjoyed the amuse bouches as well. Will be back.
We love Jeune et Jolie, but this was not the smoothest nights of service we've had. We got a reservation for a vegan tasting menu in the "Starry Nights" setting after looking forward to this night for several months. The ambiance was wonderful and the food was delicious but not once did our food come with a description of vegan food. Every dish needed clarification if not an exchange. "Scallops?" "Shrimp?"
I'm not unrealistic to think that vegan food is on the minds of every person working at a French restaurant but for $190 you would think we wouldn't need clarification or an exchange on every dish. It's all about presentation right? If you botch five out of five then you aren't trying. We'll be going back to Jeune but we'll be hoping that we won't have to question each presentation.
