Ate during a Monday night happy hour. So yummy and so much fun! Amazing oysters- Rockefeller and raw! Delicious experience!
Sam our server was great. The food was delicious as always. Can’t beat Happy Hour Mondays!!
Food is a little overpriced. Need more options.
We had reservations but were not seated right away as they had no tables ready...that’s the point of reservations - so you don’t have to wait.
The food was good but WAY overpriced for what it was. For the prices they charged I was expecting something super fantastic. It was no where near that. I could have stayed closer to home and spent half the money for similar food, and not had to park three blocks away. There really is nothing special about this place that would justify the prices or the drive out to the plaza area.
The food service service took an extraordinary amount of time. The restaurant was not at all busy or crowded. The server was sweet but s l o w to the party. We were 4 adults and not in a hurry for a Saturday afternoon luncheon.
I love the Jax in DT Denver, but this one in Kansas City, not so much.
Service was great, craps cakes were the best I have ever had, other food okay and bar drinks were poor.
plastic which hold bundle of vegetables in the grocery store was in my side of veggies. Which makes me question if they wash them before cooking as this large piece of plastic would easily be seen during proper hygiene practices.
I guess the happy hour is good, brunch was very disappointing. Website menu did not reflect actual menu.
Great time, good food, just a bit complex for my liking. I’m more of a Bristol sort of plate guy
Not the best place to go for a fast business lunch on the plaza. They only had three tables when we arrived at 12:15 and seemed to have only one waiter. We were waited on by the bartender and it was a very odd experience. The service was super slow. We didn't like two of our dishes, many of the mussels were not open, and they were out of tuna. Over $100 bucks for three of us, certainly not worth the value, and the service was so odd!
Great ambiance, excellent service and Happy Hour prices are quite good. Everyone enjoyed their choices, we were disappointed that the fish cake slider shown on menu posted on website was no longer available. I highly recommend the wedge salad and the fish and chips. My only negative comment is regarding difficulty of parking and then finding the restaurant from the parking garage. Signage has improved though, so it is easier than it used to be. Try JAX!
Always amazing. Our server made sure a member of our group new what items he couldn’t eat because of an allergy.
Five of us went to Jax Saturday evening We hadn’t been here in a while. Upon arriving we were taken to a table by the kitchen and we asked if there was another table where there was less activity and noise. We were told there was a table in the bar and we pointed out there was another table in the corner that was available. So we were given that table which was fine. We asked for bread after placing our orders and were told were not serving bread. We could order cornbread off the menu. So we order the cornbread and then asked for a manager. He explained that their BREAD MACHINE HAD BEEN BROKEN FOR A COUPLE WEEKS AND WE’RE WAITING FOR AN EXPENSIVE PART. So you’ve been without your bread machine for weeks and you haven’t sourced a bakery to deliver fresh bread?!?? We asked if he could comp the cornbread and we were told NO I CANT DO THAT AS I WOULD HAVE TO COMP EVERY TABLE AND THAT WOULD BE $8 A TABLE. HMMMM I think they must be struggling if they can’t provide fresh bread to their guests and are unwilling to take care of their guests.
The crab legs were very good, the shrimp cocktail and seafood gumbo were also very good. The mussels were over cooked and the catfish was served with a sweet/sour sauce that did not work with the catfish whatsoever.
Our waitress tried her best to make our experience a good one. We hope the restuarant will return to its excellent service and food that we’d experienced in previous years.
This restaurant used to be one of our go-to places and it was really good. Not any more! The service was poor the food was awful (A seafood restaurant with bad Osters). A friend of mine ordered a fish dish and could not identify the side dish that came with it. The manager walked by and we inquired as what it was, he could not identify it either. Stay away from this restaurant. I guess if a restaurant on the Plaza is not busy during the Plaza Art Fair the people know something we didn't.
Great food. Four in the party. Two were served about 10 minutes after the first two.
It was a great experience for our Anniversary the manager brought us a glass of champagne and some truffles it was very nice!!
Charbroiled oysters - excellent!
Cat fish with greens, fried and blackened - excellent!
Cheese grits, rice sides - excellent!
Craw fish gumbo - bland! Needed some sausage.
IMO, must have okra and sausage to be called gumbo!
Next time I eat here I will request that they add sausage if it's not in there already!
In my opinion best overall experience in KC. Loved the staff. Loved the selection. The food was outstanding.
Great service. Food was delicious. Excellent presentation of the food. Great tasting.
My ongoing craving for Jax is relentless until satisfied. I make reservations for my birthday every year. However make it a frequent go to spot. Special request of a booth in the bar is always answered. Service is outstanding and the food , phenomenal. Our waitress this go round provided perfect service. Thanks Jax!!
We had the shrimp cocktail, a variety of oysters, and snow crab legs. The oysters were great!! The shrimp cocktail was good, however the shrimp had been over cooked making them very firm. The most disappointing part was the crab legs. For the price you’re paying you don’t get very much, I believe the crab had also been over cooked, the meat seamed unusually stringy and difficult to crack the legs properly. I’ve eaten a lot of crab legs and never struggled like this to get the meat. This was our first time here and unfortunately probably our last. The price for what we received just wasn’t worth it! Disappointed to say the least.
Awesome service as always. Definitely going back.
This was our first visit to Jax but we will definitely be returning. I took my husband here for his birthday and we had a wonderful time. Mark, our server, was personable, professional, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu items (not always the case at some eateries). The appetizers, cocktails, and entrees were all so good that we finished EVERYTHING and for once, did not have a doggy bag to take with us! Excellent choice and I would highly recommend you add this restaurant to your "To Do" list!
It was a quiet night at Jax’s. It was a very pleasant evening.
The meal was excellent from the appetizer to the main course. The service was average.
My dinner at Jax was one of the best meals I have had in a while. I ordered the Moonfish, which I had never had before, and the flavors were out of this world. My kids had the lobster rolls, which aren't on the actual menu, and lobster mac. They also loved theirs. My husband had the halibut and thought it was delicious. The service was great, and I can't wait to go back in the future.
Excellent ambiance and service.
Charged us additional for substituting a side. The staff was okay but seem a bit off putting. I would try again and see if we caught them on an off day.
My wife asks are we eating at a club or a restaurant with this music. Maybe ok for a bar but not for a quality restaurant.
Always great food and top notch service!
Jaxx is one of our favorite restaurants. There was a large party the night we attended. Because of that our service was sub-par. Our server kept apologizing, but it was frustrating.
The prices on the snow crab per 1/2 pound went WAY up and they said they may be phasing crab legs off the menu. They also took my favorite dish off the menu. They did make it for me this time, so I was able to enjoy it...but will they be able to next time???
Our waitress was perfectly nice but she would walk by our table and not check on us and took about 20 minutes to get my glass of wine. She also didn’t know what Prosecco was and told me the mimosas were made with Chardonnay, so there needs to be some training done on the wine side.
Always delicious food. Excellent service and a calm, atmosphere even when it's busy. Never feels like you're being rushed. Highly recommend.
The menu has changed from what is on the website - and we understand the market and availability. Service was very slow, and frankly for a restaurant on the Plaza, it was well, meh...
Friendly service, people checking in with you was better than normal. Frankly - would not go out of my way to go there again, been there done that, not wowed.
Reservations was an issue because I was told I did not have a reservation however, we were seated right away.
Manager stopped by the table a couple of times throughout the meal. Great service
The food was terrific. The service was friendly, prompt, and professional. We enjoyed it very much and recommended to others to visit the next day.
Beer as cold as it can be.
The Tuna Nachos has a little more wasabi than needed. Crispy nachos and good amount of tuna but The wasabi ruled the flavor leaning the Asian sauces far behind. Not to order again unless the wasabi sauce is on the side.
The oysters always fresh and delicious.
The halibut lost is flavor with the base soup. I need to say that I order by mistake, las time it was on the grill and it was excellent.
It may have been an off day but the gumbo was not very good. That was disappointing because that a big reason why I went there. In general, the other food was good. We had decent service but it was slow at times. Some of the people in my party felt our server was annoyed with us. It took him a couple of tries to get our bills correct so maybe he was just frustrated in general.
