Another great experience. Food was absolutely delicious!!
Can’t wait to go back 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Took my family of three to Javier’s to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The ambiance is beyond beautiful and the drinks, food & service were top notch. Nightly recommend Javier’s for lunch or dinner.
Great restaurant to celebrate my hubby's birthday.
Came here for my birthday, food was overpriced for quality/taste in my opinion but it was good. staff is super friendly and made the experience extremely special!
Had booked a table for my birthday weeks ago. Arrived, snubbed us and put as at a small table literally at the entrance while there were plenty of empty tables inside — plenty lol. When asked why we weren’t good enough to get a normal table, again snubbed. Will never return. Good is food though, might as well have gotten it to go since that’s what it felt like.
Javiers’s never seems to disappoint. Service was amazing. Rhianna, our server, was the best. Presentation of food was inviting and so professional and the quality superb. Even the owner, Omar, gave us a special welcome.
Happy birthday to my beautiful wife
We typically go to the Newport location and have never had any issues there. Being in San Diego, we wanted to go somewhere “safe and consistently good” that we knew of. The La Jolla restaurant itself is beautiful, so we were looking forward to a normal Javiers experience. When we arrived the hosts were not well organized - they had the wrong day pulled up on their reservation book. There was slight confusion, but we made it to our table. We were greeted quickly, and waters were brought right away. Our server was polite, as was the rest of the staff. Drinks and Appetizer came out quickly and tasted great. Unfortunately, our server put in the wrong entree order. No big deal, mistakes happen. What is an issue is the way it was handled. The manager came over and explained what happened, which was obvious - not a big deal. Then the server came over to let us know the correct food would be out soon and proceeded to blame us for the incorrect first order and finish with its hard to hear in here. Making guests feel uncomfortable is super unnecessary. We order the same thing at the Newport location and never have any issues with it. We also never have to ask for silverware and plates when dishes are brought out. In addition, the bathrooms don’t have toilet paper thrown everywhere on the ground. It’s even more unfortunate because we have a guest visiting from out of town. Overall, the experience was okay, only because the food and drinks were good. The server was not so great.
Definitely get the feeling they are doing you a favor by letting you dine there. No warm welcome, no smiles. I actually stood at the host desk for several minutes while the three people behind the desk chatted with each other and cleaned menus with no acknowledgement before I asked them if they could help with my reservation. Incredibly loud inside restaurant, we could not carry on any conversation, it was laughable. Salad came out drenched in dressing. Whole night was just an eh. And then super expensive check on top of everything.
I have always liked the other Javier’s I have been too, hopefully this one catches on. Making guest feel welcome would be a good start.
The service is very much nonpersonal
loud for dinner conversation
The food was delicious and service overall is good. The place is beautiful and with great ambiance but very loud. It’s expensive for enchiladas and churros but the quality is amazing.
We had an absolute great experience at Javiers!
Sat at the bar with a friend and got served swiftly and effectively. Food was great. Drinks were just as good. Loved the pollo Josephina, ceviche de pulpo and tamarind margarita. Talk about delicious
Such a great ambiance
The food was amazing but the service was horrible. Our waitress was very cold and barely checked our table. She seemed very friendly with other tables but completely forgot about us. When she did check our table, she was very rude. I loved the food but she ruined the whole experience.
Had a great dinner with great service.
It’s always a great time at Javier’s La Jolla! The consistency is unmatched.
Delicious food but not the best Mexican food I’ve ever had… prices are higher than the quality of the food.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. They have a bunch of salsas that aren’t on the menu that you can ask for that are delicious. Everything about this place is beautiful and the food and service is amazing.
Literally the most beautiful atmosphere-food is amazing, visiting from Vegas and visited her twice-love it here-this place is a “must” no matter where you are staying in SD-worth the drive! Thanks
We had an issue with the food, it was not very pleasant to find “extra ingredients” on our enchiladas. The issue was resolved by our server, who was not happy about the issue.
Best service I’ve had in a long time. Our server was very attentive.
Delicious food as always!
My family and I have been coming to Javier’s for all our special occasions or birthdays. Yesterday was not what we have come to know when dining at Javier’s. The service staff seemed like they didn’t want to ge there. Once we were sat down, our waitress came by and took our drink order and after that, our interaction was very limited to any at all. We brought chips, salsa, water in the beginning but once again after no staff came by to check or fill our water or baskets or even attempt to ask if we needed anything. because it took so long for our waitress to finally come back and take our order, it took us over an hour to get our meal. Not once did she come back and check on us or see if we needed anything once again. We were left to attempt and flag down staff for anything. I am extremely disappointed since this is not typical of Javier’s service but yesterday was a complete disaster as it seemed our table was basically brought the initial items and then forgotten about. Our waitress barely said more than 10 sentences to us and it seemed when we asked for anything that it was a burden on our part for asking. I am hoping this is not a recurring theme at Javier’s now because this was meant to be a nice anniversary dinner for my parents and turned into a mess just trying to anyone to notice or come to our table.
I will say that the food when it finally came out was OUTSTANDING which I am so happy that standard has never failed. Hopefully the waitress and other servers can be a little more conscious of ALL tables and make the effort to help guests when dining.
Great food. Not sure if 100% authentic though, but it doesn’t matter to me.
Very overrated. If you are looking for relaxing dinner, this is not the place. We were not finished our starters and they were bringing our main course. The place is a see and be seen vibe. Food is good, but very pricy as are the drinks.
Very harried experience, I could do without.
Very slow service and food was coming out at different times and not cooked properly. For that price we expect much more.
Omar Sosa is an amazing owner/ manager! Came to the table and greeted us personally! Had an amazing Tablita for 2 and a couple of Roca Patron drinks! First class all around!
The service was terrible, wrong items brought to us. Way over priced for the basic bland food. Not authentic Mexican food. Pretty sure the food was straight from a can including the watery guacamole.. Not even close to the hype. Highly disappointed!
Everything was great. The food was wonderful but it was so loud that it was hard to have a conversation
The food was good and the drinks were strong. But 2 combo plates and 2 cocktails for lunch was $110. Nice, but not that nice.
Javier's always delivers. The food is delicious, the service great and the ambiance lovely. It may seem a bit pricey for Mexican food, but it's more than worth it in my mind.
Very good food
Beautiful interior! Party atmosphere. LOUD! Requested a booth. Got one in a far back corner away from the bar and main dining area. You would think we got a really quiet spot. Not at all. Because its bad acoustics, we were gearing clear conversations of parties on other side of this back area. The voices, music and mucho people talking all together bounced off the walls all throughout our time there. I ordered their crab enchilada. The salsa verde was quite sour. Hubby had a shrimp pasta. He waited for a burst of yummy but it didn’t happen. Fell short. Redeeming to Javier’s was their service. Great service!
We were very sad this location is not as their Los Cabos location is: quiet ambiance, majestic interior decor and amazing service.
Never a disappointment ….food and service exceeded expectations!
Valet parking is available near the entrance.
Well staffed for excellent service. Our drinks and chips were refilled continuously.
Food was perfectly prepared and tasted fabulous.
