We had a family (6) dinner at Javier’s. We each had one drink and an entry. The mandatory 20% tip was not appreciated. I also believe the $451 cost is too high for the quality and quantity of food.

Great, like always! Aguachile is so spicy and so good! Mexican chocolate ice cream was also a perfect 10! May be the best meal I ever had!!! Great service. My girl loved her enchiladas! 5 stars!

We went to celebrate my birthday. Upon arrival, we were told that if we had a cake, we would have to pay a service fee of $3.50/per person. We asked if this was because the waiter would be serving it and cutting also, but the hostess said irregardless if we opted to cut and serve it ourselves, we would still be charged that fee. This is the only place I have ever been to (fine dining included) that I know of charging such a fee. It really is baffling that on top of already paying for a cake and bringing it in, we incur an additional charge just so it can be stored, cute and served... it’s not like we already decided to give you OUR business (group of 10 with a receipt total of $687.23). I really encourage management and the ownership to take this away because it really did take away from my birthday experience. It almost seemed like my celebration was an inconvenience, and therefore they charge this fee to make up for it. Apart from that, the atmosphere, food and attention from our waiter was great. I won’t go as far as saying I won’t dine at Javiers again, but if this continues to be their policy as far as supplying my own cake for a celebration, I will definitely not be bringing my large parties here again.

Birthday gathering. Besides saying happy birthday when we arrived, nothing. Food was good but way too expensive for what is was. Brought a bottle of wine to celebrate, they charged $40!! Without mentioning the high cost.

Waitress was OK but uninterested in us or our needs. Can’t see any reason to return.

Went to Javier’s with friends to celebrate my birthday. After canceling our original plans for Las Vegas, Javier’s La Jolla was a must. After all, going to Javier’s Las Vegas was the highlight of the weekend! We will definitely be making more trips to La Jolla/San Diego to see friends and go to Javier’s!

Perfecto! The ambiance, service, and wonderful food and drink are not to be missed. The Beef taco is the best in town. The house margarita superb and the Mexican chocolate ice cream is to die for! Don't miss this place/

My second time visiting, my first time for dinner. I had the carne asada fajitas and they were fantastic. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked. The staff are very friendly and the service is great.

This place was fabulous. There were 4 of us & we all enjoyed our meals. The shrimp is yummy. I ordered there crab& shrimp enchiladas & they were delicious. Omar, our server wasn't friendly & I was disappointed in his service. He just lacked customer service & for being at a high end restaurant, he was a disappointment. We had to call him over a couple of times to get more drinks & my meal was missing the rice & I had to request it, otherwise he would have never asked if we needed anything else. I'd definitely come back again, we enjoyed the food and the ambience is very fun.

My husband and I opted to go to Javier’s to celebrate our 34th anniversary. I’ve been to Javier’s on the Newport Coast and expected the same quality at the La Jolla restaurant. They did not disappoint! Food was delicious and their staff respectful and helpful. Of note, this is a busy restaurant and we were there for longer than usual as we ran into friends we hadn’t seen for a long time. They never made us feel rushed and were always completely respectful. If you’re looking for good, inexpensive Mexican food, this might not be the place. Javier’s is expensive as far as Mexican food goes, especially because San Diego has so many Mexican restaurants to choose from. What sets Javierr’s apart is the quality and freshness of their dishes. They’re amazing! We will definitely go back even with the sticker shock on their prices as our food was absolutely delicious.

We have been there twice...both times with a 7pm reservation...both times checking in a half an hour early at 6:30pm...and both times did not get seated until at least 30-40 minutes AFTER our reservation :(
Will go somewhere else next time.

Started at the bar first and wasn’t very happy with the service. It took about 5 minutes to be acknowledged and another 5 minutes to receive a drink menu. I chose Javier’s margarita and asked for it to be spicy. The bartender was a total b***h with an attitude. It was by far the spiciest margarita I have ever had. My lips were tingling. I received my check to see the advertised $18 drink was $19. I said, “I’m sorry. I don’t wanted to belabor a dollar, but the menu states the drink is $18 and I’ve been charged $19.” For which I received a curt response of, “You asked for it to be spicy and the jalapeño is an extra dollar.” First, that should have been made clear when I ordered the drink. Second, nickel and diming on an $18 margarita is uncalled for. I then looked around the bar and saw literally everyone else had chips and salsa. I did not, nor had I been asked if I would like some. I was early for our reservation and had about 30 minutes to kill. But I never received any follow-up to ensure all was well with me and I never had an opportunity to ask for them. The bartender’s name was Ciara. Once at the table, everything was exceptional. But again, the nickel and diming was discovered with the check. Three of us ordered vodka soda with a bit of fresh lime juice. We received about an ounce of fresh lime juice each in a separate glass. I’ve never received it like that before, but ok. It was tasty and can’t really complain about that, but once again, we were charged $2 per fresh lime juice order on a $16 or $18 drink. I could have bought 4 limes or 5 jalapeños for what I was charged. The food was delicious, the restaurant is beautiful, but given all of the above, I will not be returning.

Met my friend here for her birthday and we had a lovely time. We couldn't stop looking around at the gorgeous interior design! A very beautiful spot for large parties, romantic dinners and of course birthdays. I had the Chile Verde and it was perfect, not too much tomatillo sauce and not too spicy. My friend had the chicken entree (can't remember the name of it) and she said it was very good, slightly dry in the thickest part. The margaritas are yummy! I had the organica margarita very refreshing and made with a top tequila. Of course they brought my friend a lovely flan with a candle for her birthday and sang to her. She loved it! (And it was proper flan too!)
The ambiance of this restaurant is amazing, very open so it's not too loud. To me, it has an elegant Cuban flare. They also have a large circular bar in the middle of the room which looked like fun..and also beautiful outdoor seating. A must try!!

Absolutely beautiful decor but it pretty much ends there for a good review. Very loud, lousy service and the food is very bland. I wouldn’t revisit. Really wanted to love this place but sadly disappointed!

We had a wonderful meal at Javiers. We had the tuna ceviche and then we tried the enchiladas suizas and enchiladas poblanos. All the food was outstanding and fresh. The restaurant decor is beautiful. The service was great. We drink a lot of water and our water glasses were always full. I can’t wait to go back to Javiers.
