Jar is my favorite restaurant in L.A. hands down. I go every time I visit the city. Chef Tracht consistently produces the most amazing and sophisticated twists on classics. The staff, the ambience and everything associated with Jar makes for a wonderful dining experience.

Outstanding food and service in an extremely pleasant room. My only disappointment of the evening was the burnt taste of the butterscotch pudding. Otherwise, our meal was superb: first courses we tried were haricots verts “salad,” roasted beets, and seared scallop cocktail; my son and I had the extraordinary pot roast while my wife had a beautiful john dory (sides of baby broccoli, purple yams, and (especially) onion rings were all excellent. Our son’s banana creme pie dessert was also great. Add three cocktails and a bottle of wine and it was one premium-priced meal. But so worth it!

Except for the cocktails, the food was passable but service was disappointing at best.
We arrived on time for our reservation but they were running at least fifteen minutes behind and the maitre’d was troubled by my asking how long a wait it might be! Also the young lady helping seat guests could not remember our names nor what each customer looked like while waiting at the bar!
The bartender created unsavory martinis and picked his hair before placing my lemon twist!
When we finally secured a seat, they placed us in front of the kitchen door in an area that truly should not have tables.

Our experience at JAR was phenomenal! The food was incredible. Everything was prepared to perfection. We enjoyed every moment of our dining experience. We will most definitely be returning customers.

We were there for Valentines day dinner. The food was DELICIOUS! The service was prompt and very friendly. The cocktails were yummy! We were all extremely pleased! I would definitely go again!!!

Excellent food and service. Kevin provided excellent recommendations and answered my questions from cocktails to appetizers to entrees to dessert. Only drawback was the amount of entertainment industry folks eating at Jar.

The best food in the world doesn't matter much in an understaffed restaurant. Not enough servers means you wait way too long to order-at one point before ordering we hadn't seen our server for 10 minutes. I was angry which is not what you want when paying $230 dollars for dinner for 2! 2 servers for a full restaurant. Also we seemed to have passed a threshold where good food in a fine restaurant is incredibly expensive. 3 very small scallops for $46. My pork chop tasted precooked, it was good but fatty. Again if the experience and food is top notch that may not matter to some.

We had an 8:15 reservation. Got there at 8:00. Met some nice people at the bar. We live in Century City and tend to hang on the west side. We read about Suzanne and knew Campanile well and as such were excited about our dinner. True to their promise we had a nice corner table.

The restaurant was in full bloom. I did notice though a franticness from watching the wait staff and busboys. Nonetheless our waitress Jessica was delightful. We were thinking about splitting the pork chop as it was highly recommended. Jessica however sold us on the Aged(28days) Porter House which we ordered thinking we could take the uneaten delectable meat home.

The food came. The meat spectacular. The yams, overcooked IMHO. I brought a Seasmoke “Ten”, while not the perfect wine for the steak but yes for the pork chop was amazing. We offered as tradition our waitress a taste usually reserved for the Somolier.

All was going great until “the party of thirty” came in. At first I thought, how great that an 18 year old restaurant was still “ so happening”. Congrats to Suzanne and her staff.

Then the &@$? hit the fan. The food for this large party was planted by the busboy immediately to my left to be distributed. If I wanted to get up for any reason I couldn’t. The smoke from the smoke from the food invaded our clothes. Fine whatever. Then three men from this party move immediately next to me in the same space for a heated confab. “A little space”?! I asked!

Then the busboy brings another tray of food and sits it again immediately next to me! Managers saw how upset I was and moved it to the end of the large party’s table where it should have been put.

By now what should have been a sublime evening was ruined.

Then we get the bill. Should have asked in the beginning the cost for the special, $140. Would have been nice to know that.

Great food, a little frenetic but I feel the management and staff may have let the kitchen and the restaurant down.
