Best meat ever
Kudos to Jar as they adapt to the challenges before us and manage to keep the integrity of their food preparation.
Good for them. A city treasure.
We worship this place. Renata, the manager, is God!
Excellent food and A+ service. It’s my favorite neighborhood place. Never disappointed!
food and service are always excellent! The outdoor set-up is really nice
Fabulous experience and meal! Our waiter Kevin was excellent! 5 star experience.
Great service, great food. Steak muah, (kisses sky)
They definitely need more than one outdoor heater. I had called and was assured they had heaters. Nope. Just one that two guys were using. It was pretty cold to not have more available, but as always the food was perfect. Service was great.
Top notch service. Delicious food, refreshing craft cocktails and lovely environment.
The food was fantastic. Lack of heaters for the tables closer to the street is a problem. We were very cold.
I have been going to Jar since it opened in 2001, and I never cease to be amazed at how consistently excellent it is. The salads, the sides, the pot roast, the steak, the desserts - all are exceptional every time, year after year. They have created a charming outdoor area under tents and heat lamps during COVID, which feels safe. I highly recommend getting out and having a meal there - it is as good as it has always been.
We were pretty disappointed overall. The food was excellent actually, and everything was delicious. However, we came on a particularly cold evening and it was very cold. When we sat down, there was only one heater for 4 tables (for a high class restaurant like this that was a little shocking), and we told the waiter we would probably go elsewhere this evening if the heater wasn't sufficient. We sat, were a little cold with the heater and then ten minutes later the heater went out completely.
They went to go get more propane gas, but it took about 30 minutes or so. We ordered hot tea, soup, etc and nothing really worked. It made the experience less than enjoyable to say the least.
We figured they would at least compensate the bill by removing the tea and soup (at least) because we ordered those to stay warm. There was no reduction in the bill, and for a pretty miserable half of the dining experience, they made no attempts to make up for it.
So pretty unhappy with them and their service overall. The food was great and the waiter was kind, but that is unacceptable at such a fancy restaurant in my experience.
I used to love Jar. It was my go-to "where should we eat tonight" place for dinner.
I took my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary and we had a lovely evening.
The service was impeccable and I appreciate the efforts of your staff to make it a memorable night.
You made the patio seating work and we both felt very safe dining out in the time of COVID.
The food was good, but for some reason not as amazing as I had remembered. The pot roast was delicious, but the Sunday Fried Chicken was fine. The mashed potatoes were fine, the gravy was a bit salty, but the biscuit was very good.
The onion rings were perfection, the lettuce wedge was good.
Since you were asking, I was a bit put off by the $5 buck charge for bread and butter...for to rolls that were eh. They were not "hot out of the oven" and considering how much dinner cost...I expected better.
The biggest disappointment was the chocolate pudding that was 80% whipped cream. When you charge $12 for dessert, it should be outstanding.
I understand that running a restaurant in 2020 is a challenge and your profit margins are tight. That being said, spending almost $240.00 for dinner for two should be an amazing experience.
Best food in Los Angeles. Great service. We felt very safe there during this covid period.
Love this place. It’s become one of my favorite places. It’s very tasty and originals and it’s casual yet upscale. I’m never disappointed and always satisfied.
Had a great time! Staff was amazing food was perfect!
Jar is a delight. Not only are its cocktails and cuisine marvellous, but sitting outside in the rocks outside the facade of Jar, with Christmas-tree-like lights strewn, as the sunset, is currently one of the most sheerly beautiful experiences to be had in Los Angeles.
Loved the pomegranate margarita and the fish special was amazing! The arugula salad was delicious! Would definitely come here again!
Consistently excellent. Great food and staff. And really enjoying the outside dining. Appreciate how they have adapted to a bad situation and made it better. Jar under the stars!
Over cooked flavorless steak
Because of Covid-19, we were seated outside in the make-shift patio. It was fine but not great like their indoors; also, the heater was a bit weak... but overall, it was fine and i enjoyed it. I would totally come back.
Jar has kept up its consistently great food since the beginning. That is especially noteworthy given the protocols in place now. The food and service were just terrific.
The beauty of Jar outdoors is glorious.
Good food, not quite as good as we've had on previous meals.
Nothing special about this place. Food was disappointing and service was average. Took forever to get our mains. We ordered a bottle of wine but they never filled our glasses after the first pour.
We ordered some of the specials - halibut, lobster soup, and endive salad. The lobster soup was the worst I’ve ever had, I’m surprised they served it. The halibut and endive salad were not terrible, but not interesting.
From the regular menu we ordered the deviled eggs, which were pretty good. The Brussels sprouts and kimchi was boring.
Perhaps their signature dishes are good, but nothing left me wanting to come back.
If I can walk down the street to get a better meal that’s bad. I don’t mind paying a premium for good food and service. I just feel like I received neither
Jar is amazing - such an incredible restaurant. The food, staff, service, and experience are incredible. Having Jar stay open and now have outdoor seating during the pandemic was a true bright-spot. Love Suzanne and her team!!
The food, ambiance and service was fantastic. Called the host letting them know we were going to be late. They accommodated us great! Our server, Tomek (I think that’s how you spell it) was great and knowledgeable. Helped us out with evwrything. Will be back soon!
Another fabulous lobster dinner in a peaceful well spaced out outdoor setting!! Can’t wait for next weeks dinner
Outdoor dining only right now but a very pleasant experience.
It was great food was amazing only problem was they had ran out of steaks so I resulted in getting the delicious Porkchop! Service amazing and perfect food!
I LOVE JAR 🖤
One of our best meals in a very long time. The food was outstanding, the outdoor seating was perfect and the staff was great. The purple yams are a must and halibut was delicious. We’ll be going back very soon.
Awesome outdoor set up with lots of space between each table, hand sanitizer at each, and just awesome Lobster Thursday dinner!!! Will be back!!
Always a wonderful experience. Everything is first class
Jar recreated outside is magic. Well run, service on point and friendly and food wonderful. I've ordered from Jar during the Covid-19 period and it was great but never as much fun as dining there! This is simply one of LA's best excuses to go out! They still make a great Martini too!
JAR on Beverly is making an earnest effort at safety. The tables are quite far apart and all outside, some with umbrellas. Their food is rich so take that into consideration. Their Caesar salad is actually very well prepared and not over dressed. Their salmon is pricey but worth every penny. Good oysters. Wedge salad is lovely but order the dressing on the side. Pot roast is amazing. Side dishes are excellent. Best Onion Rings in the city. After 7pm you can find parking within a block walk (meters till 8). Be prepared to spend around ninety to 100 per person (with a cocktail). The clientele is lovely for the most part. The younger ones act quite entitled. Not everyone wears their masks while seated.
Fantastic food and dining experience! Great menu with choices for all!
