    Way too noisy. Acoustics had tons of echo, making it very hard to have a conversation. While the food was very good, the atmosphere really sucked. The service was overworked - apparently need another server or two. Hanging up some cloth décor and/or some sound studio panels will help the acoustics dramatically. Worth some testing with an decibel meter - simple project, takes a couple hours to do the work - hanging various amounts of tapestry decor or sound panels and making some dining room and sushi bar noise and measuring decibel levels around the room. They should be below 80 all the time. A table across the dining room singing happy birthday literally hurt my ears - probably had levels up to 120 decibels.

    My husband and I shared 4 small plates and two grilled meat dishes. Everything was delicious, especially the grilled ribeye, the grilled pork belly, and the Jidori chicken wings. Along with 2 large glasses of craft Japanese beer, the tab was under $100. Very satisfying meal. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes.

    I've been ordering carry-out, and this was my First-time visit to indoor dining with Izakaya Hachi. Nothing beats eating hot food right off the grill. The servers were pleasant, food tasted good. The price was decent.

    Great Izakaya. All of their dishes are perfectly made and every detail is taked care of. Our waitress (Arandana 😁) was great and very attentive. Maybe the prices are a bit higher than usual but it is very good quality

    The food was slightly disappointing. The salmon truffle carpaccio was slightly warm and the truffle was just overpowering. The Negi Hama roll and the okra wrapped in pork belly were good. The chicken kaarage which was flavorful lacked some crispness. The crab croquettes were good and I liked the creaminess. Lastly the salmon skin roll was over salted, The service could have been better, they were very nice but hard to get ahold of. Overall the food seemed slightly pricey for what we got.

    Food always great and service quite good as well. Our favorites are the beef/uni, and fried pork belly. This last time we tried gobo fries which were terrific as well and feel less guilty than eating regular fries. Would definitely keep coming back.

    The food tastes normal, but the price is a bit higher than others. Espeically for the Uni & Kobe style, the Uni tastes A little BITTER. For the Oyester, we ordered three and only one of it looks like a good Oyester, the other two are not fresh at all. By the way You have to turn up your volume a lot in order to hear your friends. I do not recommend this place unless you want to give it a try or you can't find any other Japanses Restuarants.

    Overall not very satisfied. Chose as plan B since the BBQ in the same plaza was busy. Understand it was Friday but 2 hours rule is bit short but price stays same no happy hour made us feel not very worthwhile. Sashimi 2 order rule is fine but few portion, piece selection was boring plus taste not very good so definitely overpriced. $25 each ish NOT worthwhile never gonna order that again unless it gets improved. Especially tuna, I could taste and feel it was just being defrosted, texture was awful not even close the good quality. The other were ok but no impressive food but just overpriced item. Hachi in Torrance not that bad experience in the perspective of service, rule, and food quality.

    Sushi was poor quality and not fresh at all. Server was not prompt and returned after 20 minutes at a time. After 1 hour we we were told we needed to order more or leave as we had been at the table for an hour but already ordered $200 of food.

    This is our 4th time here and service has definitely declined. Service is usually slow and robotic but we do like the shabu here a lot so we keep coming back. Until this visit. Good food is not hard to find nowadays; therefore, good service is whAt will make a difference. Especially if I’m paying $$$!! It was my friends 50th birthday and we were excited to share this place with her but after this visit none of us will be back. First they gave us a hard time about the sake bottle we brought. Informed hostess we brought the same bottle the times before with no issues. She checked with the manager came back, told us needs to be a bottle not on the list. I showed her it’s not on her list. Ok we got over that first hump. Asked the waitress for an ice bucket for my bottle, she told me they don’t have one that fits our bottle. Ok…cool. Came back about 5mins later, oh your bottle is too big, we don’t have license for that. Wth? Ok fine. We ordered 2 of their sake bottles, beer and some water. 15mins went by and we still haven’t gotten our liquid. Mind you, we were told in the beginning we only have 2 hours to eat. SMH! Not only did they wasted their time going back and forth about a stupid sake bottle, they wasted my time as well. And I still didn’t have water!! The ordering part was another experience…ordered the fresh oysters. She asked how many, told her a dozen. She tells me umm each oyster is $4…ok? Ok I said. She asks me again so how many? Wanted some yuzu paste…again I was reminded multiple times it will cost me $$. I had to go look at myself in the mirror to make sure I didn’t look too poor to eat there or something lol!! I think I’ll just take my poor self to another izakaya next time.

    We had a reservation and went in on a Sunday before MLK holiday. The place was fairly crowded but not full. We were told at check in we had two hours to dine. We ordered a few items but not all as we were still navigating the menu. It was hard to place order after the initial one as I guess the assigned server had to place the order. Throughout the dinner we just felt like we were being rushed out the door. Poor customer service at best. I understand that the restaurant wants to be able to turn the tables over but they still had enough empty tables. The servers were like robots. No smiles at all. Very disappointed.

    This was our first time trying this restaurant. Made reservations ahead of time for counter seating. We were first sat right next to the entryway to the kitchen. We requested to switch to the other side of the counter, because for some reason, it smelled like sewer over there. Right in front of us, behind the counter, was a chef preparing the various rolls, and pressed sushi, along with salads, and more. He had very good knife skills, and prepared all the dishes rapidly. However, we noticed he was using the same rag to clean and wipe his knife, and also to wipe the counter, cutting board and barely rinsed the rag. When you wipe the tabletops to remove dirt, you should rinse the rag. Or use a different rag to wipe the knife. Your knife is used to cut the fish, and all the other raw foods. Your patrons end up eating all the dirt that you wipe off the tabletops. The servers were very friendly, and attentive. Noticed there were many Japanese employees, and their main chef was also Japanese. Be prepared to pay on the higher side. The overall yakitori dishes were very tasty, and all the different chicken dishes were not chewy or tough. Overall experience was pretty good, despite the chef who contaminated the food with the rag. Spent over $170 for dinner, but got to eat pretty good food.

    This was the first time we were here. The food was excellent, but pricey. My recommendation is don’t go there with an empty stomach aka starving. You will end up ordering waaay too much. Definitely will come back.

    TLDR: Food was pretty good, although the portion was pretty small especially for the price. needs some deep cleaning throughout the place. Average service. We were the first customer that day and the whole place was empty. As soon as we entered the restaurant, there was a distinctive stinky smell inside the place... which gave me an impression that this whole place probably wasn't deeply cleaned in a while. I can see how you won't be able to smell this if you were to walk in when the place is packed full of people with the smell of food cooking from the kitchen. Service from the server was average - not stellar/amazing but wasn't bad either. Food was tasty. However, the portions were very small for the price - especially the carpaccio. Yakitori skewers were very tasty and had a good fire/charcoal scent to it. Bathroom... was little disappointing. The stinky smell was even stronger back here which is not the kind of impression you want to give to your customer... The facet for the sink was just poorly done. The Chicago Facet is so short that there's no room for you to place your hand between the facet's water output and the sink itself. So you awkwardly place your hand in between, while trying to keep the water flowing with the other hand... They should really change this.. probably the biggest negative about the place.
